The service & repair manual contains necessary information about the safe
maintenance and repair operations for the C-2011 lleting machine. This
manual covers all the necessary information regarding common adjustments for
the machine. There are two other manuals for this machine that should also be
read for safe operation. Each manual describes a specic function or part of the
machine. The three sections are:
The owner must make sure that each of these manuals are read through by all
persons assigned to install, operate, maintain or service the lleting machine.
These manuals should therefore always be stored within reach of the lleting
machine.

2.1 EC-Directives
2.2 Dangers
This service & repair manual, especially the safety instructions and the rules and regulations,
valid for the operation, repair and adjustments of the machine, must be observed by all person-
nel working on or around the machine. In addition to the safety specications mentioned in the
machine manuals (see list of manuals in chapter 1 “In this manual”) , the general and also the local
regulations on the prevention of accidents and on environmental protection should be observed.
Within terms of the EC- machinery directive 2006/42/EC the lleting machine is considered to be an
autonomous machine. The machine has been designed, manufactured and produced in accordance
with the machine directive 2006/42/EC, the low voltage directive 2006/95/EC and the electromag-
netic (EMC) directive 2004/108/EC.
The lleting machine has been constructed according to current technological standards and accept-
ed safety regulations. To avoid danger to the operator, any other personnel or the machine itself, the
machine may be put to use only for its intended purpose and in a technically awless and safe state.
Incorrect use of the machine or operation which does not correspond to the intended use or under-
taken by untrained personnel can result in the danger of injury, even death or damage to property or
machine.
Check at regular intervals that personnel operating the machine are aware of safety and dangers
whilst taking the operating and safety instructions into consideration.
2.Safety
2.3 Not permissible are...
The following is not permissible when operating or working on the lleting machine:
• The wearing of long hair and jewelry, including rings.
• Loose tting work clothes, especially around the arms when operating or working on the machine.
• Reaching into the machine with the hands or tools while running the machine.
• Modifying or putting out of action (additions or conversions) safety devices such as safety position
switches, safety modules, safety gates, covers etc.
• Operating the machine by unauthorized persons and those not trained.
• Making program change to programmable control or safety systems.
• The use of equipment which generates electromagnetic radiation (e.g.) mobile phones, electrical weld-
ing equipment), within a range of 2m from the machine.
• Taking medicines impairing your concentration or reaction time.
• Performing welding work on the machine.
Only persons who have read this and all other manuals for the machine (see page 4 for list of manuals)
and have fully understood it´s content may operate or work on the machine.
2.4 Personnel

2.5 Intended use
Prior to switching on / starting up the machine, ensure that no person is at risk by the start up
of the machine. No one should operate the machine before having undertaken a comprehen-
sive and thorough training. The operator of the machine should get to know the machine by
reading the manual, visually inspecting the machine and take special care of getting familiar
with the machine safety features and the dangers posed by the machine.
The C-2011 lleting machine is an autonomous machine that is designed to take headed and
gutted sh within the range given in Operation manual, chapter 3. “General introduction”, and
cut the sh so that it separates the bones from the meat, delivering llets onto conveyors lead-
ing from the machine and the bones separately. The machine is specially designed for the sh
species listed in Operation manual, chapter 3. “General introduction”, and must not be used
outside the scope of intended use given in this and other manuals for the machine.
The machine is not designed to be operated in an explosive atmosphere.
Operation systems and controls are intended for operation by a trained and authorized person
only.
2.6 General safety measures
• The owner is responsible for ensuring that the operators, maintenance and service personnel are fully
familiar with all safety and warning instructions and that these are adhered to.
• Keep all safety and danger warning information on the machine in a legible condition.
• All working methods that impair the safety of the machine are forbidden.
• The operator must notify his superior of any changes to the machine encountered which may impair
safety.
• Stop and secure the machine immediately.
• Overcome malfunctions at once.
• Where necessary, the owner is obliged to ensure that the operating personnel wear personal protective
equipment as well as tight tting clothing.
• Always wear hearing protectors while working on the machine.
The machine safety can be impaired by:
• Conversions or changes made to the machine.
• The use of additional equipment on the machine differing from that intended or approved by the
manufacturer.
• The use of spare and worn parts other than intended by the manufacturer.
• The neglect of the schedule for repetitive checks/inspections prescribed or contained in the operat-
ing instructions.
2.7 In Case of an emergency
• Life is in danger.
• Possible risk of harm.
• There is a risk of damage to the machine or property.
Actuate the emergency stop if:

2.8 Maintenance and care
Set the main switch to OFF prior to undertaking maintenance or repair work on the lleting
machine. Secure the switch against unauthorized switching on with a padlock.
• Maintenance and care are reserved to specialized personnel and has to be performed while observing
the instructions given in the operation and user manuals for the machine.
• Under no circumstances should the machine be cleaned with compressed air or a high-pressure cleaner.
Observe chapter 7, “Cleaning” in the machine operation manual for further details.
Check the functions of the safety systems in accordance with the instructions given in the
operation manual chapter 6 “ Operation”.
2.9 Checking the safety systems
2.10 Repair & service
Only personnel trained and authorized by Curio ehf. and Curio Food Machinery Ltd. are per-
mitted to undertake repair & service work.
Set the main switch to OFF prior to undertaking maintenance or repair work on the lleting
machine. Secure the switch against unauthorized switching on with a padlock.
Take particular care if the machine must be operational for certain repair work.
Ensure that no persons are within the danger zone:
• Protect the danger zone over a wide area, using additional barriers or fences.
• When exchanging parts, carefully x the individual parts, larger modules use lifting means and secure so
that no danger can exist.
• Do not stand or work below suspended loads.
• Obey the safety warnings given in the operation and user manuals for the lleting machine.
• Only trained and qualied personnel with special knowledge and experience are permitted to work on
electrical and mechanical parts of the machine.
2.11 Guarantee and liability
Guarantee and liability claims are excluded for personal injury and material damage if the
claims derive from one or more of the following causes:
• Operation of the machine when safety devices and equipment are defective.
• Improper use.
• Improper assembly/disassembly or improper operations.
• Non-observance of information on transport or storage
• Modications or reconstructions that have been carried out without the written authorization of
Curio ehf.
• Improper or neglected maintenance and repair.

Only use recommended tools for knife replacement.
