Symbols on and in the device
This symbol indicates general information that requires increased
attention from the user or operator of the machine and is intended
for general information.
This symbol indicates moving machine parts that can cause injury
if used improperly. Handling these machine parts requires a high
level of attention and sufficient expertise and should therefore only
be carried out by trained personnel.
The air-conditioning system of the machine is marked with this
symbol. The outside of the air-conditioning module gets warm
(about 60°C) and the inside cools down to up to 2°C. The inside of
the air-conditioning module gets cold. Incorrect mechanical action
can cause the cooling rods to buckle and the cooling liquid to leak
out. Caution is advised with the two fans inside and outside the unit
The unit is to be operated exclusively via the mains unit supplied.
This has the necessary earthing concept and protects the unit,
which is operated with 15V direct current.
This symbol indicates points in the unit where mains voltage (AC
voltage 230V) or supply voltages (e.g. for the air conditioner DC
voltage 15V) occur in combination with currents relevant to health.
Contact with these points must be avoided under all circumstances
as long as the unit is connected. Work on these points must only
be carried out by qualified personnel.

Description of the Cuula Basic
1. The Cuula Basic device is a stand-al one solution for cooling and dispensing 250ml
beverage cans.
2. The dispensing takes place by the barrier-free removal of the beverage can upwards
from the device. The device is not locked and has no user-opening door or flap.
3. The device stands on a stand, which generates the necessary inclination, so that
after removing one can, the next cans slide independently.
4. The enclosed power supply supplies the device with 15V operating voltage. The use
of another, non-original, power supply is expressly prohibited by the manufacturer.
5. At the back, the device has a refill flap that must be opened to refill the cans. This
activity is carried out by the operator and must always be carried out at the latest
when the red LED on the back starts flashing. The capacity of the Cuula Basic is
seven 250ml cans.
6. A replaceable design cover is attached to the top of the Cuula Basic. The
replacement is carried out by the operator after consultation with the operator of the
device
7. At the front of the device, below the can removal device, is the condensation water
container. In this is a fleece, which absorbs and stores excess moisture. The
container must be emptied at regular intervals by the operator according to the
instructions and the fleece replaced.
8. The back of the case is removable and allows access to the inside of the Cuula Basic
for maintenance purposes. The housing must only be opened in accordance with the
specifications of these operating instructions and the Cuula must not be operated
without or with a damaged housing.

Cuula GmbH
9. The Cuula Basic also comes with the Cuula App, which can be downloaded using
the enclosed QR code. This is used to control and operate the Cuula. (from 2023)
Operating instructions Operator
The following chapters are aimed at the operators of the device and must be strictly
adhered to in the manner and order in order to ensure a smooth process.
Setting up the Cuula Basic
The Cuula Basic must be placed in a stable, horizontal and dry place. The opening for
taking the cans points in the direction of the customers. The device has a supplied power
supply, which is connected to the 2 pole. Round plug on the Cuula Basic is plugged into
the back. The cable incl.dem power supply must then be stored and stowed on the side
of the sales area that is not visible to the customer. Care must be taken to ensure that
the cable is moved in such a way that no employee or customer can trip over it.
The device starts working with the factory settings immediately after connecting. In the
illuminated versions, the Cuula starts to light up immediately after connecting and the air
conditioning module starts cooling. When the device is fully filled, this process takes about
30-45 minutes.
Further settings of the Cuula Basic are made by the provided app. See the item "Software
– Working in the backend of the machine".
Filling the vending machine
For the first filling of the device, as well as for refilling, the rear refill flap is opened with the
appropriate closing mechanism and the cans are inserted upright, with the cap facing
upwards into the Cuula. Due to the inclination of the Cuula, the cans slide forward by
themselves for dispensing. At the latest, when the red LED on the back of the device
starts flashing, the Cuula must be refilled to ensure proper cooling of the drinks.
Software – Working in the backend of the vending machine
The work in the backend of the Cuula Basic is reserved for the "smart" versions of the
Cuula. For more information, see www.cuula.eu
Recurring service work
The following maintenance work serves the permanent functionality of the device.
Neglecting the service intervals can lead to damage to individual components and total
failure of the Cuula Basic.

Cuula GmbH
Basically, the device is designed to be low-maintenance and requires no additional
attention between service intervals. For the following work, only two Allen keys of size 2
and 2.5 are necessary.
Air conditioning maintenance
For all maintenance work on the air conditioning system, the device must be
disconnected from the power supply without exception.
The air conditioning system is a low-maintenance Peltier air conditioning system which,
due to its design, has no mechanical components such as compressor or condensing
unit. The core components of the plant (Peltier elements) require no maintenance.
In addition to the usual visual inspection, which should be carried out regularly when
refilling the beverage cans, the inner fan of the air conditioning module must be checked
every 3 months. Ongoing operation can lead to accumulation of dust and dirt. The
protective grilles of the fans can be carefully removed for cleaning without tools (pull away
backwards and observe the bayonet lock). The fan should be cleaned without liquid with
a dry cloth or brush.
The cooling fins of the air conditioner must also be cleaned every 3 months with a brush
or a damp cloth. Dirty ribs are less able to release heat or cold into the environment. The
cooling behavior of the air conditioning system can be impaired as a result.
Cleaning the Cuula Basic
Some areas in the device must be cleaned or checked at regular intervals, but at the
latest after an operating time of 6 months.
The external air filter of the case fan (on the lower side) must be removed and cleaned
with compressed air or brush. Alternatively, the filter insert (blue/white filter material) can
be washed and then dried. Wet or damp filter cartridges must not be installed, as they
can damage the fan. Filter insert material is available from the manufacturer on request.
Dirty fans can generate increased power consumption, get stuck or stop working.
(The fans are a wear part. Spare parts are available from the manufacturer on request.)
Although a condensation water tank is mounted under the device, which collects
condensation water formed from the internal cooling surfaces, condensation water
formation can occur in the housing, especially on the walls. These areas must be cleaned
with a dry cloth during regular refills. In case of increased condensation water formation,
the air conditioning system must be readjusted.
The inner and outer surfaces of the Cuula Basic, especially the design cover, must be
carefully cleaned with appropriate surface cleaners (e.g. Würth Haftclean 089010060).
The use of cleaning agents is under your own responsibility. Too strong or corrosive
cleaning agents can damage the surfaces or the design cover.
Disinfection intervals may vary depending on use. An information sheet on how to handle
the device with regard to current situations is included with the device.

Cuula GmbH
Behavior in the event of an error
The Cuula Basic has an internal error management program, which specifically detects
electronic errors or cooling errors and displays them in the Cuula backend. Electronic
errors, if displayed in the backend, can be corrected by the operator itself through
telephone support from Cuula GmbH.
In the event of smoke, the device must be switched off immediately and disconnected
from the mains and checked by specially trained personnel. The device must not be put
back into operation independently. After switching off, the device must always be
observed and, if necessary, the manufacturer or the fire brigade should be contacted.
In the following, the replacement of the three main components of the cooling system
(fans, Peltier elements and heat pipes) of the Cuula Basic is described. These three
components are maintenance-free and designed for the entire service life of the Cuula
Basic. In the event of an error, only a complete replacement of the devices is possible.
Corresponding replacement components are available from the manufacturer on request.

Cuula GmbH
Replacement of individual components
Replacement of the air conditioning fan
To replace the rear fan of the air conditioner, the device must first be de-energized and
all sockets removed before then removing the rear housing (pulled backwards). In the
second step, the front plastic cover is pulled upwards on the output tray. After that, the
front half of the housing can be pulled forward.
Then the device is placed on its side, and the corresponding cable of the air conditioning
fan on the motherboard is disconnected. The fan is mounted with 4 plugs on the frame
of the Cuula Basic. These can be carefully pushed down with a flat, wide screwdriver.
Then the fan can be removed. The installation of the new fan is done in reverse order.
Exchange of heat pipes
The device has 2 sets of heat pipes that carry the heat from the Peltier
elements to the cooling fins on the left and right of the housing. As described in the
previous step, the entire housing is opened to replace these elements (see "Replacing
the Air Conditioning Fan").
The heat pipes are pressed to the Peltier element with 4 screws each (M4x30 – inner
hexagon) with a pressure plate. For disassembly, these screws must be removed. Then
the heat pipe element can be pulled forward. ATTENTION: Only pull the heat pipes
forward and do not bend them to the side so as not to break out the retaining eyelets on
the Cuula frame. ATTENTION: Do not bend the heat pipes or expose them to excessive
mechanical stress. As a result, the pipes can leak and the coolant can escape.
