Quick start Guide
Connections
•Connect the analog equipment on the RJ45 ports: telephone, modem, RTU …
oNOTE: If a 75 ohm coaxial termination using the BNC connectors is required for E1 use, an internal jumper must be
changed. See page last annex, E1 port.
•Connect the Ethernet port to the WAN or LAN.
•Connect the green connector power on the right side of the product:

Create a Bundle between two CIP-ALL products
A Bundle is a number of parameters to establish a link between two user interfaces through the CIP-ALL. Here is an example of two Leased
Line modems connected to the analog port of each CIP-ALL:

In the ‘General’ menu: set an IP Address for the equipment. For example, the first unit is on the 192.168.1.0 network with the address .2 and
the second unit is on the 192.168.2.0 network with address .2
In the Analog Port Menu: set the analog interface parameters. For example, 2 wire mode and internal clock source for one unit, and Clock
Recovery mode for the other unit.
Set the clock source Bundle number as the slave clock reference; Bundle number 3 in this example.
In this case, the Clock Recovery is slaved to the Bundle number 3 clock source.
Click on the “Save” button to save this setting, and restart the product with the new parameters.

Restarting the product is not required when changing analog port parameters.
In the Bundle Menu: create a number 3 bundle, set the remote equipment IP address, and tick the relevant analog port number.
Then activate the Bundle and save it. The other parameters satisfy most applications to get started.
Then you must restart the equipment. (See the next chapter).
The Bundle menu shows the IP address previously defined in the general configuration menu.
Note that this IP address may have no relation with the product management IP address.
The default Bundle id number created is 1003 (with Bundle number 3)
In the Reboot (restart) menu: restart the product to activate the Bundle. After reboot, the link is established between the analog ports and the
modems.
Note: depending on the network jitter, some amount of time (seconds to minutes) may be required for perfect recovered clock stability.
The Status / Bundles menu shows the Bundles status and transmission statistics.
When the Bundles are set on both products, this menu shows the Bundle connection status and the real time number of Ethernet / IP packet
transmission.
These counters are refreshed every 10 seconds.

Range of Products and Options
The CIP-ALL comes with several options:
Power supply: 36-72 Vdc, 9-36Vdc or 110-230 Vac external power adapter.
Number of analog ports: ALL / E&M, FXO, FXS.
E1 option
These different versions are summarized in the following table. The same designations will be used throughout this manual to indicate when
functions apply. The generic name CIP-ALL will be used in the general case.

FCC Part 15
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These
limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment.
This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction
manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful
interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense. Modifications not expressly approved by the
manufacturer could void the user's authority to operated the equipment under FCC rules.
Safety Instructions

The power cord is the main switching element. Thus the mains outlet must be installed close to the equipment and provide easy access. In
order to comply with the safety regulations, it is imperative to use only the accessories (cables) provided with the equipment. When access to
the inside of the modem is necessary it is imperative to disconnect the power source.
For safety reasons, any operation on the equipment and particularly opening the enclosure must be carried out by maintenance person qualified
by CXR.
The equipment must imperatively be returned to CXR in any case of anomaly, fall, loss of performance, water exposure, power supply damage,
power or line cord damage, or anything else that can provide a safety concern…
Environmental
The CIP-ALL is designed for residential or light industrial use within the following environmental conditions:
•Storage Temperature : -10 to +70 °C
•Operating Temperature : -10 to +60 °C
•Hygrometry : 0 to 90% without condensation
•Class : IP40
•Flammability : UL94-V0
Place the equipment in an area well suited for its good operation and its longevity:
•Equipment must not be exposed to excessive solar radiation
•Equipment must not be in contact with water. It must not be used near a water reserve or in a wet location.
•Equipment must be installed on a plane and horizontal surface, without vibration.
•Make sure the area is clean, dry and exempt of dust
•Make sure that nothing could obstruct the air vent of the product, and that no small size part (screw, staple, clip, …) could get into it.
•Always disconnect the line and mains connections before any operation (move, connecting other equipment, …) on the equipment. The
mains cord must be taken from the socket; any effort on the cord could induce damages and risk of electrical shock.
Use
The CIP-ALL is intended to transport analog voice signals, 2/4 wires Leased Line interface, or FXO interface for a PBX connection, or FXS
interface for a telephone set connection, or 8 wires for E&M line interface.
The WAN port is either a 10/100BT or an optical Gigabit Ethernet port. The analog signal and E1 interface are transported over an Ethernet
packet network.
A POE source option can feed two Ethernet devices connected the Ethernet ports 3 and 4.
The CIP-ALL is compatible with another CIP-ALL, or other equipment complying with CESoPSN (RFC5086) (ask CXR for details).

In compliance with the European rules for separate collection systems and Waste of Electric and Electronic Equipment, this
marking shown on this product indicates that it should not be disposed with other household wastes at the end of working
life. To prevent possible harm to the environment or human health from uncontrolled waste disposal, please separate this
from other types of wastes and recycle it responsibly to promote the sustainable reuse of material resources.
Household users should contact either the retailer were they purchased this product, or their local government office for
details of where and how they can take this item for environmental safe recycling.

1. Introduction
The CIP-ALL emulates analog voice circuits over an Ethernet and IP network. It converts an asynchronous RS-232 interface to IP and has an
E1 option featuring Circuit Emulation Services over IP. It connects to the Ethernet network through a 10/100BT port, or an optical Gigabit
Ethernet port.
The voice and E1 interfaces are converted by TDM over packet processor according to the SAToP or CESoPSN standards.
A Bundle defines a set of parameters to transport a circuit between two CIP-ALL products.
Point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and even protected optical ring topologies can be designed with the CIP-ALL.
A basic application requires two CIP-ALL units to interconnect all of the interfaces.
Each CIP-ALL provides:
•4x Ethernet 10/100 Base TX.
•2x Gigabit Ethernet optical interfaces.
•1x asynchronous RS-232 / V.24 / V.28 port.
•4 Analog interfaces: 2 or 4 wire (Leased Lines) or 2 wire FXO or FXS or 4 wires E&M.
The CIP-ALL is available with a 48 Vdc (36 -72 Vdc) or 12/24 Vdc (9-36 Vdc) power input, and a 110-230 Vac mains to 48 Vdc converter option.
1.1. Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces
The CIP-ALL connects to other devices on the network through four 10/100 Base TX (RJ45) Ethernet ports, and two Gigabit optical ports.
The product embeds an Ethernet switch that delivers wire speed switching, QoS, VLAN functions.
1.2. Analog Interfaces
The CIP-ALL is connected with one or many other remote CIP-ALLs to transport 2 or 4 analog interfaces:
2 and 4 wire E&M and Leased Line emulation, 300 to 3400 Hz voice frequency signals to connect to leased line modems, RTU / SCADA /
Remote Control devices. Input level 0 dB max, or input level +3 dB max (option -108)
FXO interface to connect to a PBX with ringing and On Hook / Off Hook function detection.
FXS interface to connect to a telephone set or a dial-up modem with ringing and On Hook / Off Hook functions.
E&M interface to connect a PBX and a telco interface.
1.3. RS-232 Terminal Interface
An RS-232 serial asynchronous port is available on the CIP-ALL to connect a 300 to 115,200 bps asynchronous terminal. Asynchronous data
are converted to IP with UDP/TCP encapsulation and transported over the Ethernet/IP network.
The CIP-ALL features different protocols for asynchronous data control:
•Raw-IP: transparent mode.
•Modbus: Modbus and Gibus Industrial protocol emulation, and master / slave point to multipoint mode.
•Message: bloc of data with a ending character.
•Bloc: bloc of data followed by an idle / silence delay
The interface is addressed by an IP address and TCP / UDP port.
Other specific protocols may be available from CXR: please ask CXR for details.

The CIP-ALL can be managed from the Ethernet network by http or https protocol, and a Web Browser.

1.5. « Bundle » Name
A Pseudo-Wire circuit or Bundle is defined as a bit stream from a physical interface that is transmitted over a packet network to remote
equipment performing the same TDM over packet process.
For example, the bundles can include any number of DS-0 time slots from a single E1 or analog interfaces, or a full E1.
Bundles define one-way streams, so two streams are required for full-duplex communication.
More than one Bundle can be transmitted between two devices.
2. Installation

Connections
•Connect the equipment as follows, front view of the product with E1 port option.
•For safety reasons it is imperative to use the accessories provided with the equipment.
•The LAN ports will be connected to any host or switch product with either straight or crossed (null modem) cables.

3. Front panel and light indicators
The LED indicators are installed on the front panel of the CIP-ALL to show its operation status.
Admin console port:

Shows that the equipment is powered on. Flashes when the unit is starting, or during a firmware upgrade.
SYNC OFF when all Bundles are synchronized.
Flashing when a test is in progress.
ON when a Bundle connection fails
It is possible to connect the ADMIN port to the serial port of a computer (19200, 8, N, 1). This connection is not required for the operation of the
equipment. It is temporary only during installation and testing.

4. Typical Application
The most common installation of the CIP-ALL is the transport of Ethernet access, multiple voice analog ports, a terminal server port and
optional E1 port. These data are transported in a duplex or simplex fiber optic, or copper Ethernet link connected to a LAN.
To make an active connection between two modems, for example, configure the IP address of the equipment, associate analog ports to a
Bundle number, then create a Bundle for these analog ports and specify the IP address of the remote equipment.
Refer to the “Quick Start” part of this document for getting started and to the following section for details on the operating parameters.
5. Operation and Configuration
This chapter describes the operation of the CIP-ALL through its WEB interface.
A Personal Computer with a WEB browser must be connected to the first LAN port of the CIP-ALL.
The CIP-ALL default IP address is 192.168.1.1.
CIP-ALL configuration can be made in the web interface menus.
The use of the web interface offers valuable advantages such as simplicity and online help.

Configuring the IP address from the ADMIN console interface
Connect a PC COM to the CIP-ALL ADMIN console port (on the right side of the product)
Start a terminal communication software (HyperTerminal, or Procomm for example), set for 19,200 bps, 8, N, 1.
The user login and password are root and admin on this console port
Enter the command system-config-network and answer questions.
If the choice in parentheses is correct, then just press the Enter key. If not, then enter the proper parameters.

The top line shows the product name which depends on the installed analog ports and options: CIP-4ALL / CIP-2ALL-2O for example.
The top right of the menu shows:

5.3.1. Configuration Menu
Click on the parameter to be changed. Click on the Apply button to apply the change.
The « Save » button saves the parameters in the non-volatile memory.
The « Apply » button saves the parameters in the non-volatile memory, and applies them to product operation.
Some parameters need a product restart: a special message appears in the top of the menu in such cases.
General Configuration:
The user interface parameters are defined in this menu:
Language: English or French.
Site name: a 20 character long product identifier. This name is displayed in the top line of the Web interface.
TDM over Packet:
RTP Clock Source:
RTP mode is used when using the Loopback clock and when both product clocks are extracted from a common GPS source or E1 operator
network. For example:
Differential: used with two external reference clocks.
Absolute: in other cases.
Source IP 1 and 2:
Define the source Bundle IP address used for transporting E1 and analog interface stream on the packet network. IP1 and IP2 addresses
are selected in each Bundle. Also set the appropriate subnet mask length: /24 is equivalent to the 255.255.255.0 netmask.
Default Gateway:
Default Gateway IP address used to route the IP traffic. Each Bundle may also have its own specific gateway: refer to the Bundle menu.
Source MAC address 1:
Source MAC address 1 used with IP1 source address
Source MAC address 2:
Source MAC address 2 used with IP2 source address
VLAN provider tag:
VLAN tag for the protocol 802.1ad or Provider VLAN (Q-in-Q)

Ping the remote:
Never: Only the ARP mechanism is used to establish and maintain the bundle.
If needed: the response of the remote bundle to the Ping request is necessary to establish and maintain the bundles if the remote device is
on another IP network.
Always: the response of the remote bundle to the Ping request is necessary to establish and maintain the bundles.
5.3.2. Analog Ports
Analog ports connect to voice frequency devices, leased line and dial-up modems, telephone sets, PBX and specific RTU/SCADA systems.
Clock Source:
Recovery: recovers the clock from the remote device. In this case, the associated Bundle identifier must be defined.
Internal: uses the internal clock of the CIP-ALL equipment.
Associated Bundle ID:
Bundle number associated with the remote synchronization clock. A unique clock source can be used for all analog ports.
Signaling Mode (FXO and FXS interfaces only, E&M):
CAS Standard: on hook, off hook and ringing signals are transmitted in the ABCD CAS signaling bits of an E1 frame. The number of
frames per Ethernet packets is limited to 16 in this mode (i.e. 16x125 µs encapsulation delay). With the E&M card, the CAS transports the
state of the E, M wires, it depends of the type of configuration.
Proprietary: on hook, off hook and ringing signals are transmitted in a proprietary mode between two CIP-ALL products. This method
reduces the Ethernet bandwidth required to transport the analog channels. On the right side of the example bellow, the FXS port #3 sends
its signaling information to the remote IP address 10.45.160.44 and port 3002, and it receives the remote signaling information on port
3002 (server port) to its management LAN IP address as defined in the Administration Menu.
1-2-3-4 Analog Ports:
The analog ports are defined in factory:
ALL: 2 and 4 wire E&M or Analog Leased Line to connect a leased line modem, for example.
FXS: FXS interface to connect a telephone set
FXO: FXO interface to connect PBX like equipment
EM: E&M interface side A, side B (see annex A, chapter 8.1.7).

Coding law:
Law A or Law µ : linear or compensated analog to digital conversion
Transmit gain:
Sets output amplifier gain after the digital to analog conversion.
Input Gain:
Adjusts the input gain after the analog / digital conversion.
CAS Mode:
Sets the ABCD CAS signaling standard: ANSI or ETSI. These bits ABCD are used for transporting on-hook, off-hook and ring signals of
the FXO and FXS interfaces or E&M interface.
PLAR Mode
OFF: normal operation to connect and FXS device (telephone set) to and FXO one (PBX) through a couple of CIP-ALLs
ON: connects two FXS devices (telephone sets) through a couple of CIP-ALLs. The on-hook to off-hook transition on one side makes a
RING signal on the remote side till the remote device hangs off. PLAR mode is used between two CIP-2ALL-2S and CIP-4S for example.
Ring Cadence (PLAR mode):
Defines the ON and OFF cycle of the RING signal in PLAR mode. Rapid ringing is 1 second ON and 1 second OFF. Normal ringing is 1.5
second ON and 3.5 seconds OFF.
Signaling IP: port remote
Defines the remote equipment IP address to send the proprietary signaling information. It must be its IP management address.
Signaling Server port:
In this proprietary signaling mode, this defines IP protocol port number to send the signaling associated with the IP address of the CIP
(defined in the Administration Menu, LAN IP Address).
5.3.3. Bundles Configuration
A Pseudo-Wire circuit or Bundle is defined as a bit stream that is originated from a physical interface and is transmitted by a TDM over Packet
equipment to another TDM over packet equipment. For example, the Bundles can include any number of 64 kbps timeslots from analog
interfaces or an E1 interface. Both directions Bundles must be defined for full duplex communication. A TDM over Packet device can process
Bundles coming from several remote equipments.
No Bundle is defined in a new product from factory: at least one Bundle must be created when setting the product up – Refer to the “Quick start
Guide” section.
Bundle ID:
Choose a number associated to the Bundle (from 0 to 999). Up to 64 Bundles can be defined as a maximum.
Bundle port type:
Defines if the Bundle applies on an Analog interface or the E1 interface. This option is presented only with the E1 option.
Bundle type:
Bundle Type may be AAL1, CESoPSN or SAToP.
SAToP applies only on unframed E1 / 2,048 kbps interfaces.
CES (CESoPSN) and AAL1 modes can be set on Bundles for the analog interfaces and the E1 port (unframed or framed mode)
