Sample 1 Battery Setup
Sample 2 Battery Setup

Revision A.5 Cyclops Storm OSD tpalshadow English Translation 4
The above images show sample configurations for either 1- or 2-battery setups. Please note
these are only general samples and your particular installation may vary. The key difference
between the setups is in Sample 1 the main power battery also provides power to the STORM
OSD and your video equipment where in Sample 2 you have a separate battery for the STORM
OSD and video equipment.
NOTE: The STORM OSD will provide 12V power to the camera and video transmitter. If your
camera or video transmitter do not support 12V power you are required to provide power
through an alternative method.
It is important to note that power from the receiver supply is used for the servos. Use three
wire leads (positive, ground and signal) for connecting the receiver to the STORM OSD and then
to the servos. When signal from the receiver is lost the STORM OSD will provide the signal to
the servos but the power continues to come from the receiver supply.
The following image describes the BAT jumper and it’s usage in more detail:
Important: Choose the correct power jumper configuration:
To use the system power, short circuit pins 1 and 2. (System power must be 12V, or 3S
LiPo batteries)
For separate OSD/video 12V or 3S LiPo equipment battery, remove the jumper cap and
use pins 2 and 3.

BAT SCALE
mAh alarm value
When power consumption reaches the set value, the battery capacity
symbol and value will flash. The mAh consumption rate can be adjusted
between 0%-200% to correct for current sensor inaccuracies.
Recommended steps to set the consumption rate for best accuracy:
1.Fully charge a battery.
2.Fly your airplane as you normally would.
3.When your flight is complete, note the mAh used as displayed in the
STORM OSD (mAh_OSD).
4.Charge the battery used again and record how many mAh were charged
back into the battery (mAh_CHARGER).
5.Consumption Rate % Value = ( mAh_CHARGER/mAh_OSD) X 100.
RESET CURRENT
Reset the current
sensor to zero
To be used upon first use or after replacing the current sensor.
SEV
CENTER
Servo center
confirmation
Please make a test flight of the aircraft and adjust the center point of
control surfaces using your transmitter. After modifying the zero point of
servos on your transmitter, activate this option on the STORM OSD so the
STORM OSD learns the new center points of the transmitter aileron and
elevator. Also ensure your receiver failsafe positions match these new
zero points.
AIL
Aileron reverse
setting
After properly configuring the STORM OSD and powering it on, switch
the flight mode to PA. Tip the aircraft in the roll and pitch directions.
Ensure the control surfaces react appropriately to right to motion. If it is
reacting in the opposite direction needed, use the reverse settings to
correct.

balance
AUTO: Place your plane on a flat and level surface. Choose this option to
have the STORM OSD reset the center point of roll and pitch.
MANUAL: Power on the STORM OSD and place the aircraft on either a flat
and level surface or at the same pitch attitude the airframe requires for
level flight. Through the video interface observe the pitch and roll angle
parameters. If the pitch and roll are not displaying 0, you should use this
option to compensate. For instance: P-3, R+5, you would adjust the P to -3
, R to +5 for the TRIM, exit the menu, and observe the parameters again.
Do this until they display 0 at flat and level.
NOTE: You will need to set these options upon initial installation of the
STORM OSD and anytime you move the STORM OSD to a new aircraft.

During calibration, STORM OSD main board must be placed horizontally,
and strictly remains still.
RSSI
Signal Strength
Indicator
You need to confirm the maximum and minimum value for RSSI in the
configuration menu. During flight when the RSSI value falls below 5% the
display will disappear and the radio icon will flash to warn you that the signal
is too low or lost. The RSSI will not show if the min and max settings for RSSI
are equal.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. After correctly setting your menu options, exit the menu to enter the flight
mode. Pressing the UP button will switch between display modes (which will be
saved if powered off).
2. As GPS begins searching for satellites the number of acquired satellites is displayed
next to the GPS strength icon in the upper right corner. A flashing icon indicates weak
or unreliable GPS strength and cannot be used for navigation. With good GPS signal,
the satellite acquisition process should last for 1-5 minutes.
3. Press and hold the OK button for 3 seconds to switch between metric and standard.
The STORM ODS’s setup will be saved upon power off. (The RTH choice in the menu
will also switch between metric and standard based on this setting.)
4. You may connect the Flight Mode Control interface to any three-way switch or knob
channel on your control transmitter unit. After the GPS signal has been acquired you
may choose flight mode using your assigned switch/knob. The Flight Mode Control
options are: manual mode, manual stabilization model (PA), and automatic return
mode (RTH). You may set the chosen switch/knob to the RTH mode for the failsafe
setting, which may assist in returning your aircraft in the event of control signal loss.
When the STORM OSD controls the aircraft in RTH mode, the aircraft will first fly
directly back to the take-off (home) point. Once it nears the take-off location it will
begin to circle counter-clockwise with the take-off point in the center. (The height of the
counter-clockwise circling will be determined by the RTH ALT value setting in the menu.) If
the STORM OSD GPS is unable to attain a satellite signal, the system is only able to
operate in Manual and PA mode.
When PA or RTH mode is selected, flight control is managed by the OSD unit acting
on inputs from the accelerometers built into the Storm OSD. In Manual mode, flight
control is managed by your input to the transmitter sticks. When in PA or RTH
mode, the OSD needs the same mechanical ratios to affect satisfactory control as
you need in Manual mode. The OSD inputs are equivalent to using 100% stick travel
"weight" so your transmitter stick inputs need to be set to 100% travel weight and
the mechanical linkage adjusted to achieve satisfactory control no matter which
mode is selected. In general, if you receive unstable flight or oscillating flight in PA
or RTH mode, adjust the mechanical throw travel of your model first.
5. Before takeoff, press the reset button on the control pad in order to reset all
parameters. (This operation will reset altitude, distance, timer, current and mAh

Revision A.5 Cyclops Storm OSD tpalshadow English Translation 12
consumed). Note: do not press the button for an extended time or the unit will
make the metric/standard conversion.
6. Should the STORM OSD detect 0 volts on the system power battery, voltage, current
and mAh consumed of power batterywillnotbedisplayed.
7. Your STORM OSD can display RSSI voltage (receiver signal strength indicating
voltage) with a range from: 0.1-3.3V. When the voltage is below 0.1v the STORM
OSD will not display this parameter. In order to properly display RSSI voltage, you
may be required to open your receiver make changes including soldering. The
STORM OSD manufacturer bears no responsibility for any damage as a result this
operation procedure.
8. The STORM OSD heats up during operation; this is normal.
9. The STORM OSD does not control throttle during failsafe or RTH operation.
Recommended receiver failsafe settings (NOTE: please consult the instructions
provided with your receiver to program failsafe setup):
Throttle: set to a value high enough to allow the plane to fly! A common value
is 65%
Aileron, Elevator, Rudder must be in a neutral position.
Channel for flight mode must be set for RTH.
10. The Display Control (DIS) port may be connected to any switch on your control
transmitter unit to switch between fighter and concise surface display. In concise
surface display the direction representing a return to the take-off (home) point is
indicated with a line on screen. (This is noted with the ‘H’ on the image below.) If
the ‘H-line line’ is in the middle and not flashing it indicates the plane is heading
directly towards the take-off point. When the ‘H-line’is in the middle and is
flashing, it indicates the plane is flying 180 degree away from the take-off point.
Your choice of display will not be stored upon power off.

SYMBOL DESCRIPTIONS
Power Alarm When the power consumption of the system reaches the value
prescribed by BAT SCALE in the menu, this symbol will appear and flash to alarm.
Semi-Manual Stabilization ModeWhen flight mode is switched to stabilization
mode this symbol will appear. At this time the aileron is in auto-balance mode, and the
STORM OSD will maintain fixed altitude flight.
Height Locks and Heading Locks In PA flight mode with the elevator stick in the
neutral position the system will lock and maintain altitude at the time of PA activation; the lock
symbol will appear next to your altitude. When you operate the elevator joystick the height
lock symbol will disappear and you may change the flight altitude. When the elevator joystick is
returned to neutral position the height lock symbol re-appears and the new current altitude is
used for altitude hold.
In PA flight mode, should you have heading hold enabled and the aileron stick is in the neutral
position, the lock symbol will appear next to your heading. When you operate the aileron stick,
the lock symbol will disappear and you may change the flight heading. When the aileron
joystick is returned to neutral position the height lock symbol re-appears and the new current
heading is used for heading hold.
Note: If you have elevator and aileron stick centered and you do not see the lock symbol in PA
mode, you must re-set the SEV CENTER option in the menu.
Return to Home

Posture Alarm This symbol indicates the system's measurement for posture value
is not accurate. The aircraft may only be operated manually. Switching flight mode to PA and
RTH is not allowed.
Possibilities causes for posture alarm:
1. Excessive aircraft vibration.
2. The first 10 seconds after starting the STORM OSD.
3. The aircraft's roll angle exceeds 45 degrees.
4. After a violent flight maneuver (i.e. spiral, extended inverted flight, etc.)
