The DIR-813 AC750Wi-Fi Router is an aordable yet powerful wireless networking solution which combines the latest high-speed
802.11ac Wi-Fi specication with dual-band technology and fast Ethernet ports to deliver a seamless networking experience.
The increased range and reliability of wireless AC technology reaches farther into your home, and the DIR-813’s advanced

Connections
1LAN Ports (1-4) Connect 10/100 Ethernet devices such as computers, switches, cameras, and network storage devices (NAS).
2Internet Port Connect your broadband modem using an Ethernet cable.
3Power Connector Connect the supplied power adapter.
4WPS/Reset Button
WPS - Press for one second to start the WPS process. The WPS LED will blink during the process. The light will
turn solid green when successfully connecting to a device.
Reset - Press and hold the reset button for eight seconds to reset the router back to the factory default settings.

LEDs
1Power LED A solid green light indicates a proper connection to the power supply.
2Internet LED A solid green light indicates a connection to the Internet port.
3WPS LED A solid green light indicates a successful connection using WPS. The light will blink during the WPS process.
4Wireless LED A solid green light indicates the wireless function is working properly. This light will blink during data
transmission.
5LAN LEDs (1-4) A solid green light indicates a connection to a device is working properly. The LED will blink during data
transmission.

Before you Begin
Installation
This section will walk you through the installation process. Placement of the router is very important. Do not place the router in
an enclosed area such as a closet, cabinet, or in the attic or garage.
• Users with DSL providers - If you are using a PPPoE connection, you will need your PPPoE user name and password. If you do
not have this information, contact your Internet provider. Do not proceed until you have this information.
• Users with Cable providers - Make sure you unplug the power to your modem. In some cases, you may need to turn it o for
up to ve minutes.
• Advanced Users - If your ISP provided you with a modem/router combo, you will need to set it to“bridge”mode so the DIR-813
router can work properly. Please contact your ISP or refer to the user manual for your modem/router device.

Wireless Installation Considerations
The D-Link wireless router allows you access your network using a wireless connection from virtually anywhere within the
operating range of your wireless network. Keep in mind, however, that the number, thickness and location of walls, ceilings,
or other objects that the wireless signals must pass through, may limit the range. Typical ranges vary depending on the types
of materials and background RF (radio frequency) noise in your home or business. The key to maximizing wireless range is to
follow these basic guidelines:
1. Keep the number of walls and ceilings between the D-Link router and other network devices to a minimum -
each wall or ceiling can reduce your adapter’s range from 3-90 feet (1-30 meters.) Position your devices so that
the number of walls or ceilings is minimized.
2. Be aware of the direct line between network devices. A wall that is 1.5 feet thick (.5 meters), at a
45-degree angle appears to be almost 3 feet (1 meter) thick. At a 2-degree angle it looks over 42 feet (14 meters)
thick! Position devices so that the signal will travel straight through a wall or ceiling (instead of at an angle) for
better reception.
3. Building Materials make a dierence. A solid metal door or aluminum studs may have a negative eect on
range. Try to position access points, wireless routers, and computers so that the signal passes through drywall
or open doorways. Materials and objects such as glass, steel, metal, walls with insulation, water (sh tanks),
mirrors, le cabinets, brick, and concrete will degrade your wireless signal.
4. Keep your product away (at least 3-6 feet or 1-2 meters) from electrical devices or appliances that generate RF
noise.
5. If you are using 2.4GHz cordless phones or X-10 (wireless products such as ceiling fans, lights, and home security
systems), your wireless connection may degrade dramatically or drop completely. Make sure your 2.4GHz phone
base is as far away from your wireless devices as possible. The base transmits a signal even if the phone in not
in use.

1. Unplug the power from your modem.
Manual Setup
For best results, place the router in an open area of your intended work area for better wireless coverage. Please use the
computer that you are currently connecting to the Internet with.
2. Connect an Ethernet cable from the Internet port of the router to the Ethernet port on your DSL or Cable
modem.

3. Connect another Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port on your computer to one of the LAN ports on the router.
You can also connect wirelessly to the router with your computer. Use the supplied Wi-Fi Conguration Card for
the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password of the router. Complete steps 4 and 5 before attempting to
connect.
4. Plug the power back into your DSL or cable modem. Please wait about one minute before continuing.

5. Plug the power adapter into your router and connect to an available power outlet or surge protector. If the
Power LED does not light up, verify the power adapter is plugged in a working outlet or power strip.

6. After the router has powered up, verify that the Power and Internet LEDs are both lit. Proceed with router
conguration.

Conguration
There are a couple dierent ways you can congure your router to connect to the Internet and connect to your clients:
• D-Link Easy Setup Wizard - This wizard will launch if you log into the router for the rst time. See below.
• Manual Setup - Log into the router and manually congure your router (advanced users only). Refer to page 14.
Setup Wizard
1. Open a web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, or
Safari) and enter http://dlinkrouter.local./ or the IP address of
the router (http://192.168.0.1).
2. Enter your router password. If you have not created a
password yet, leave the password blank and click Login to
continue.

3. Select your Internet type from the drop-down menu: DHCP (dynamic) is
most commonly used with cable Internet, PPPoE (common with DSL), or
Static.
If you selected DSL (PPPoE), enter your PPPoE user name and password
supplied by your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

If you selected Static IP, enter the IP information and DNS settings
supplied by your ISP.
4. For both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, create a name for your Wi-Fi Network
and a password. Your wireless devices (i.e., tablets, smartphones, and
laptops) will need to have this information entered to be able to connect to
your wireless network. Click Connect at the bottom to continue.

5. Your router will now connect to the Internet. Please allow 1-2 minutes.
Once the Setup is Completed message appears, click Complete.

Web-based Conguration Utility
To access the conguration utility, open a web-browser such as Internet
Explorer and enter the IP address of the router (http://192.168.0.1).
You may also connect by typing http://dlinkrouter in the address bar.
Next to User Name enter Admin and then enter your password (Leave
the password blank by default). Click Log In to continue.
The Setup > Internet page will appear. You can now navigate to the
settings your want to congure. If you want to run the setup wizard
again, click Easy Setup on the left side.

Enter the IP address assigned by your ISP.
Enter the Subnet Mask assigned by your ISP.
Enter the Gateway assigned by your ISP.
The default MAC Address is set to theWAN’s physical interface
MAC address on the Broadband Router.
You can click the Copy Your PC’s MAC Address button to
copy the MAC address of the Ethernet adapter installed in
your computer to the router.
Enter the Primary DNS server IP address assigned by your ISP.
Enter the Secondary DNS server IP address. This is optional.
Maximum Transmission Unit - you may need to change the
MTU for optimal performance with your specic ISP. 1492 is
the default MTU.

Select Static IP if all WAN IP information is provided to you by your ISP. You will need to enter in the IP address, subnet mask, gateway address, and
DNS address(es) provided to you by your ISP.

The Host Name is optional but may be required by some ISPs.
The default host name is the device name of the router and
may be changed.
The default MAC Address is set to theWAN’s physical interface
MAC address on the Broadband Router.
You can click the Copy Your PC’s MAC Address button to
copy the MAC address of the Ethernet adapter installed in
your computer to the router.
These addresses will be assigned automatically from your ISP.
You can manually enter DNS servers if you do not want to use
what is assigned to you.
Maximum Transmission Unit - You may need to change the
MTU for optimal performance with your specic ISP.

Select Dynamic IP (DHCP) to obtain IP Address information automatically from your ISP. Select this option if your ISP did not
give you any IP settings to use. This option is most commonly used for cable modem services and some DSL services.
