Therearetwowaystosetupyourcamera:
Zero Conguration Setup:Ifyouhaveamydlink-enabledrouter(D-LinkCloudRouter),thisistheeasiestwaytosetupyourcamera.Refer
to “ZeroCongurationSetup”onpage15.
mydlink Lite Mobile App: If you do not have a mydlink-enabled router, you can use the mydlink Lite mobile app to guide you through
setup and initial conguration of your camera. Refer to MobileAppSetuponpage18.
Note: If you experience issues registering this device with your mydlink account, or If you purchased an open box or resold unit, perform a hard
reset by pressing and holding the reset button on the device for 10 seconds while the device is powered on. If you are returning the device to the
place of purchase, please perform the hard reset procedure to clear the device of any personal data.

Wireless Installation Considerations
TheD-LinkWirelessNetworkCameraletsyouaccessyournetworkusingawirelessconnectionfromanywherewithintheoperatingrangeofyour
wirelessnetwork.However,thenumber,thicknessandlocationofwalls,ceilings,orotherobjectsthatthewirelesssignalsmustpassthrough,may
limittherange.TypicalrangesvarydependingonthetypesofmaterialsandbackgroundRF(radiofrequency)noiseinyourhomeorbusiness.The
keytomaximizingwirelessrangeistofollowthesebasicguidelines:
1. Minimizethenumberofwallsandceilingsbetweenyouradapterandothernetworkdevices(suchasyourNetworkCamera)-each
wallorceilingcanreduceyouradapter’srangefrom3-98feet(1-30meters).
2. Beawareofthedirectlinebetweennetworkdevices.Awallthatis1.5feetthick(0.5meters),ata45-degreeangleappearstobe
almost3feet(1meter)thick.Ata2-degreeangle,itlooksover46feet(14meters)thick.Positionyourdevicessothatthesignal
willtravelstraightthroughawallorceiling(insteadofatanangle)forbetterreception.
3. BuildingMaterialsmakeadierence.Asolidmetaldoororaluminumstudsmayweakenthewirelesssignal.Trytopositionyour
accesspoints,wirelessrouters,andothernetworkingdeviceswherethesignalpassesthroughdrywalloropendoorways.Materials
andobjectssuchasglass,steel,metal,wallswithinsulation,water(shtanks),mirrors,lecabinets,brick,andconcretewilldegrade
your wireless signal.
4. Keep your product at least 3-6 feet or 1-2 meters away from electrical devices or appliances that generate RF noise.
5. Ifyouareusing2.4GHzcordlessphonesorotherradiofrequencysources(suchasmicrowaveovens),yourwirelessconnection
maydegradedramaticallyordropcompletely.Makesureyour2.4GHzphonebaseisasfarawayfromyourwirelessdevicesas
possible.Thebasetransmitsasignalevenifthephoneisnotinuse.

Zero Conguration Setup
If you have a mydlink-enabled Cloud Router and an active mydlink account,youcanuseZeroCongurationSetup.Your
CloudRouterwillautomaticallyassignyournetworksettingstoyourcamera,andaddittoyourmydlinkaccount.Thisallows
you to set up your camera by simply plugging it in and connecting it to your router. After setup is complete, you can remotely
access your camera from the website (http://www.mydlink.com).
If you do not have a D-Link Cloud Router, skip to “MobileAppSetup”onpage18.Tolearnmoreaboutmydlink,referto
“Whatismydlink?”onpage21.
Plug in the External Power Adapter
Attachthepoweradaptertothepowerconnector(MicroUSBport)onthebackofthe
camera, and plug the power adapter into a wall outlet or power strip. Power is conrmed
when the Power LED is lit.
Press the WPS Button on Your Camera
Press and hold the WPSbuttononthebackofthecameraforthreeseconds.Theblue
WPSstatusLEDwillstartblinking.
Press the WPS Button on Your Cloud Router
PresstheWPSbuttononyourCloudRouterwithin60seconds.TheWPSbuttonisusually
onthesideorbackofyourCloudRouter.TheDCS-935Lwillautomaticallycreateasecure
wireless connection to your router and reboot. When it has successfully connected, the
PowerLEDwillbelitgreenandtheDirectLEDwillbeo.

camera, a notice will appear that says, Zero Conguration(atthebottomofthescreen).
Click the notication to continue.

FromacomputerconnectedtotheInternet,openaWebbrowser(e.g.,InternetExplorer,
Chrome,FirefoxorSafari)andgotohttp://www.mydlink.com.Signintoyourmydlink

*Note: If you notice a white haze when viewing in night vision mode, the night vision light on
the camera may be reecting o a nearby surface. Try repositioning and aiming the camera.

Mobile App Setup
If you do not have a mydlink-enabled Cloud Router, you can congure your camera using the mydlink Lite mobile app. For
more about the benets of registering your camera with mydlink, refer to “Whatismydlink?”onpage21.
After you download the mydlink Lite app to your mobile device, launch
theapp.TapontheLocal button at the bottom, then tap the Add Camera
button. Follow the onscreen prompts to set up and install your camera.
Searchforthefreemydlink Lite appintheAppStoreorGooglePlay.You
can also nd the mydlink Lite app using a QR code reader to scan the
corresponding code for your mobile device.

Mounting the Camera
Tomountyourcameraonawallorceiling,pleasefollowthestepsbelow.Werecommendthatyoucongureyourcamerabeforemountingit.
Step 1
Useapenciltomarktwopointsonthewallorceilingthatare40mm(1.6in)apart.Usea6mmdrillbitto
drilltwoholes25mmdeep(about1indeep)whereyoumarked.Insertthescrewsintotheholes.Whenyou
tighten the screws, leave 2mm for tting the mounting base over the screw-heads.
Step 2
Placethemountingbaseoverthescrewsthatareinsertedintothewallorceiling.Makesuretotthescrew-
heads over the big holes in the base, and slide the mounting base downward to lock it rmly into place. Lightly
pullthebaseforwardtomakesurethatitislocked.Adjusttheangleofthecameraasneeded.
Note: If the wall is made out of concrete, before inserting the screws, insert the plastic anchors to support the screws.

TheDCS-935Lcanbeusedasaportablecamerathatyoucantakewithyou.DirectConnectmodeletsyouwirelesslyconnectyourmobiledevice
directlytoyourcamera,whichmeansthereisnoneedforanInternetconnectionorarouter.Youcanuseyourmobiledeviceasamonitorforyour
camera.
Attachthepoweradaptertothepowerconnector(MicroUSBport)onthebackofthecamera,andplugthe
power adapter into a wall outlet or power strip.
If the Direct LED is not lit green, press the Direct LED & Button to switch to Direct Connect mode.
Fromyourmobiledevice,connecttoyourcamera’sWi-Finetwork.ThenetworknamewillbeDCS-935L-XXXX,
whereXXXXisa4-digitcode.Thenetworknameandpasswordareprintedonalabelattachedtoyourcamera.
Note: Once you are connected to the camera, your mobile device will no longer have Internet access.
Youcannowusethemydlink Lite app to view video from your camera, as long as your mobile device is within wireless range.
Don’tforgettoturnoDirectConnectmodewhenyouarenishedusingyourDCS-935Lasaportablecamera.PressandholdtheDirect LED &
ButtonforatleastvesecondstoturnoDirectConnect.ThiswillensurethatyourmobiledevicewillreturntonormaloperationwithInternet
access, and you can easily connect your camera to your W-Fi network when you return home.

Note: You have the option of using a portable USB battery pack (not included). Use a Micro USB cable to connect
