(2) Intended Use of Equipment
The Dakewe Slide Printer is a professional printer specially designed for histology slides, which is
used to print information on the slides: barcode, QR code, numbers, characters, multiple languages,
graphics.
The equipment can only be operated according to the instructions in this manual. Any other
operation is considered inappropriate!
Be sure to follow the safety instructions and warnings in this chapter.
Even if you are already familiar with the operation and use of the product, please
be sure to read these instructions.
(3) Personnel Qualifications
This equipment must be installed, used and serviced by qualified personnel, i.e. with the appropriate
technical competence, familiar with the safety issues and risks associated with the use of this equipment.
We recommend half a day training for both operators and users to attend a half-day training to be able to
operate in full independence the installed unit.
The equipment can only be operated according to the instructions in this manual.

II. Safety
(1) Safety Precautions
The user manual contains important information related to operational safety and equipment
maintenance. It is an important part of the product and must be read carefully before installation and use,
and always be kept near the equipment. This equipment is manufactured and tested in accordance with the
safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use, and complies
with the following safety and EMC test standards:
IEC 61010-1:2010+AMD1: 2016 Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement,
control, and laboratory use – Part 1: General requirements.
IEC 61010-2-101: 2018 Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and
laboratory use - Part 2-101: Particular requirements for in vitro diagnostic (IVD) medical equipment.
IEC 61326-1: 2020 Electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use - EMC
requirements - Part 1: General requirements.
IEC 61326-2-6: 2020 Electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use - EMC
requirements - Part 2-6: Particular requirements - In vitro diagnostic (IVD) medical equipment.
To ensure safe operation, the user must observe all safety precautions and warnings in the user
manual.
The safety precautions described in this chapter must be observed at all times.
Protective devices on the equipment and its accessories shall not be
disassembled or modified, and only authorized service personnel may repair
equipment and dispose of internal components of the equipment.
Use only original equipment parts and original accessories.
Improper operation or handling of the equipment can result in injury to users or
other personnel, or damage to equipment, or other property damage.
It must be used as specified and only when all safety functions are in proper
operating state. Faults that compromise safety must be corrected immediately.
(2) Warnings
The safety devices installed by the manufacturer on this equipment constitute only the basis for

incident prevention. The primary person responsible for safe operation is the institution that owns the
equipment, followed by the person assigned by the institution to operate, maintain or repair the equipment.
To ensure smooth operation of the equipment, be sure to observe the following instructions and warnings.
1. Warning - Symbols on the equipment
An indication of warning triangle symbol is displayed on the equipment. The correct operating
instructions as defined in this manual must be followed during operation or replacement. Failure to
comply with the instructions may result in incidents, injury to personnel, or damage to equipment
or accessories.
2. Warning - Transport and installation
The equipment may be shaken, tilted or lifted during transport, so shakable parts, including
input hopper, batch output hopper, must be secured or removed prior to each transport - otherwise
the equipment can be damaged.
Lifting up and carrying the equipment from the packaging box requires 2 people to work
together.
After unpacking, the equipment must be kept upright during carrying.
Strictly observe the instructions for unpacking to avoid damage to the equipment!
The equipment must be placed on a horizontal surface, and the location must have good
ventilation to ensure that the equipment has sufficient space for heat dissipation.
Do not place the equipment in an environment with flammable ignition source and explosive
hazard.
Do not expose the equipment to direct sunlight.
The equipment shall be connected to a grounded mains outlet and shall not be connected to an
extension board without a protective ground conductor.
If the equipment is connected to a mains supply with a voltage different from that indicated on
the label, serious damage may be caused.
3. Warning - Operation
The Dakewe slide printer should only be operated by trained laboratory personnel in
accordance with the intended use and instruction manual.
In case of emergency, turn off the main power and unplug the power switch.
During operation, do not block the hopper motor drive assembly with objects or bare hands, or
it can cause injury.
Load slides according to equipment markings or indications, and make sure that the slides are
loaded in the right direction.
Dispose of slides in accordance with laws, regulations and waste management policy
requirements of the institution.
Load input hopper and batch output hopper according to equipment markings and instructions,
and make sure that the hoppers are inserted properly.
Input hopper and batch output hopper must not be pulled when the equipment is resetting.

4. Warning - Laser safety
Do not attempt to operate the laser printer when the protective cover on the lenses is absent.
Do not disassemble or repair the laser unit. In case of malfunction, please contact the service
personnel.
Any of the above actions may result in permanent damage to eyes or skin.
5. Warning - Cleaning and maintenance
Before each maintenance or cleaning, turn off the equipment and disconnect the
main power supply.
Please use a soft cloth and mild detergent to clean the equipment housing.
Prevent corrosive liquids and high temperature from being in contact with the
housing, otherwise the housing may be damaged!
Do not use paint thinner, any solvent containing acetone or xylene to clean the
equipment, and avoid spilling liquid on the internal components of the equipment.
Follow all safety requirements of the equipment manufacturer and laboratory
management policy when using cleaning reagents.
Under no circumstances should the input hopper and batch output hopper be
directly washed with water, otherwise it may cause the hopper to be abnormal!
(3) Safety Functions
The Dakewe Slide Printer is equipped with safety functions and complete software.
1.Indicator light and Hopper Lights
The Dakewe Slide Printer is equipped with a status indicator light and hopper lights. The status
indicator is located above the touch screen. Users can know the status of the instrument in real time based
on the color change of the status indicator. The hopper lights inside the instrument are designed for aiding
users to observe the slides in the hoppers from the visible window. Meanwhile, the color of the hopper
lights is consistent with that of the indicator, which can also reflect the operation of the instrument.
blue: Indicates that the instrument is idling;
green: Indicates that the instrument is printing;
red: Indicates an abnormality occurs on the instrument.

2. Alarm
The Dakewe Slide Printer is equipped with an alarm function, and the alarm is given from the laser
inside the instrument.
When the temperature of the laser inside the instrument exceeds 40°C, the laser
alarm system of the equipment will send out a continuous short tone of “Beep...”.
Instruction:
First shut down the equipment, wait for 5 - 10 minutes, and then start the
equipment; If the alarm still cannot be turned off, please contact service personnel
for inspection.

(1) Device Overview
The Dakewe Slide Printer is a professional printer specially designed for pathological tissue slides. It
can print English letters, numbers, Chinese characters, one-dimensional codes (barcodes), QR codes,
pictures (bitmap formats supported by the current system: .DXF, .PLT, .SVG) on the painted surface of the
glass slide. The printed information can withstand the immersion of alcohol, xylene and acid/alkaline
chemical reagents under high-temperature conditions, and is suitable for long-term storage.
The Dakewe Slide Printer mainly consists of 10 modules: slide in/output module, slide transfer
module, slide translation module, on-demand output hopper (not applicable for S200 Pro), print module,
control system, power supply system, safety module, air purification system, and human-machine
interaction system.

(2) Requirements for Installation
The device requires an installation area of about (L*W*H) 600*400*800 mm.
The device power supply range is 100–240VAC and the power cord should be a dedicate cable
that conforms to the local power supply.
The device should be installed at a place where the main power switch can be easily accessible at
any time. Never connect the device to a power strip. Instead, it must be connected to a grounded mains
socket-outlet.
The operator should ensure that electrostatic discharge (ESD) safety precautions are in place.
The device is for indoor use only. Do not use the device indoors where there is a risk of explosion.
Avoid collisions, direct sunlight, and frequent electricity fluctuation.
Considering the weight of the device, the workbench should have the capacity and stiffness to
carry the weight of the device.
The room temperature should be always maintained between +10 °C and +35 °C; the
installation site must be well ventilated and free from any sources of ignition.

(3) Unpacking and Installation
1. Unpacking requirements
The device needs to have enough space when being unpacked. The sides and the rear of the device
should be at least 1 m away from the wall.
To take the device out of the pallet, always reserve at least 1.5 m space in front of the device, and
move the device packaging box as close to the final installation site as possible.
At least two people are required to unpack and carry down the device.
If there is a large temperature difference between the warehouse and the
installation site and the air humidity is high, condensation may form inside the
device. In this case, you must wait for at least two hours before turning on the
device, otherwise the device would be damaged.
Before unpacking, please check that the packaging box is intact, and no damages
or deformities in appearance. In case of any of the conditions above, please mark on
the shipping documents accordingly.
To ensure the device will operate properly, the device should be installed with at
least 100 mm space around the device for ventilation.

2. Remove the wooden crate
The following steps are required for removing the crate:
(1) Remove the fasteners using a disassembly tool or a flat-blade screwdriver (Figure 3-6).
(2) Align the disassembly tool (or flat-blade screwdriver) with the round hole at the bend of the
fastener and press in the direction of the force point (Figure3-8).
(3) Remove the foam in the box, and take the instrument out.
(4) To reassemble the crate: press the fasteners into the slots on the box based on the length direction.

3. Checking components
Check the components to be installed according to the packing list. Components include: Power cord
(Figure3- 9)、Slides (Figure3- 10)、USB drive (Figure3- 11)、Ethernet cable (Figure3- 12)、USB network
interface card (Figure3- 13)、Vacuum cleaner (Figure3- 14).

4. Loading slides
The Slide Printers S200 ((Figure 3-15) and S200 ((Figure 3-16) Pro are equipped with two input
hoppers (input hoppers A and B), while S100 is equipped with the input hopper A only (Figure 3-17).
The input hopper A is on the right side and input hopper B is on the left side, with a loading capacity
of 100 slides in each .
The Dakewe Slide Printer S200 and S200Pro will consume the slides in the input hopper A during
printing. When the input hopper A is not loaded with slides or the slides are exhausted, the software will
automatically detect the slides availability in input hopper B; if slides are loaded in the input hopper B,
printing continues, otherwise the software system will stop printing, give a voice prompt “please fill slides”,
and unlock the input hoppers and the batch output hopper.

Before loading the slides, check that the slides are in good situation (no adhesion between the
slides,no broken slides, etc.).
Loading slides: Wear gloves and use the thumb and the rest of the fingers to hold the top and bottom
of the slides to keep it neat; put it in from the top of the columns and move it down vertically along the
columns (Figure 3-19).
When loading slides, pay attention to the orientation and front and back of the painted surface of the
slides, and load the slides strictly in accordance with the direction of the painted surface up and towards the
handle (Figure 3-20).

The columns of the three hoppers are slightly different in structure. The input
hopper A (Figure 3-21) is low on the left and the right is high, and the input hopper
B (Figure 3-18) is high on the left and low on the right. Batch output hopper has
equally high columns. Three hoppers cannot be used exchangeably.

(4) Turning on/off the Instrument
1. Power connection
Connect the power cord provided for the device to the external power cord connector. Before connecting
the power supply, ensure that the power switch is at the "O" position (Figure 3-22).

2. Turning on the instrument
The following six steps are required to start the Dakewe Slide Printer:
(1) Connect the power switch of the instrument to a grounded power outlet.
(2) Turn on the main power switch on the back of the instrument and keep the switch at the “丨” end.
(3) After the power is turned on for the first time and the main power switch is turned on, the
instrument will automatically start the operation.
(4) Turn on the instrument daily: Select the on/off button on the front of the instrument, and short
press the on/off button for 1s to start the instrument.
(5) The software is initialized, i.e., instrument self-test; wait for the initialization to be completed.
(6) After the instrument is initialized, the software enters the main interface.

Before connecting the instrument to mains for the first time, be sure to keep the
power switch at “〇”.
Daily startup of the device: Select the ON/OFF button on the right side of the
device (Figure 4-17), and briefly press the ON/OFF button.
While operating, please do not turn off the instrument.
Please follow the steps provided above to completely shut down the instrument.
Turning off the instrument in other ways may cause serious damage to the
instrument hardware and result in data loss.
3. Turning off the Instrument
The following three steps are required to completely turn off the Dakewe Slide Printer:
(1) Long press the ON/OFF button in the front of the instrument for 3 seconds so that the software will
pop up the account logout prompt to enter the shutdown process.
(2) After the touch screen turns off, the shutdown process is complete.
(3) Instrument outage: Select the main power switch on the back of the instrument to keep the switch
at the “〇” end (this step is not necessary during the use of the instrument).
