serves as disconnecting device.

cloth to wipe off dust and grease.
13 Non-use periods - the power cord of the appliance should
be unplugged from the outlet when left unused for a long
period of time.
14 Object and liquid entry - care should be taken so that
objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled into the
enclosure through openings.
15 Damage requiring service - the appliance should be
serviced by qualified personnel when:
a) The power-supply cord or the plug has been
damaged; or
b) Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into
the appliance; or
c) The appliance has been exposed to rain; or
d) The appliance does not appear to operate normally,
or exhibits a marked change in performance; or
e) The appliance has been dropped, or the enclosure
damaged.
16 Servicing - the user should not attempt to service
the appliance beyond that described in the opera ting
instructions. All other servicing should be referred to

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Congratulations with your new DALI MENTOR loudspeaker. It is important to us that your new DALI
loudspeakers are set up and connected optimally. For this reason, we recommend that you read
this manual and follow its instructions.This manual contains instructions for setup and connection,
as well as tips and advice on how to get the most out of your new loudspeakers. DALI is acclaimed
around the world for unique loudspeakers built to our uncompromising standards for design and
performance. The goal for every single DALI loudspeaker is always our foremost commitment: To
create a listening experience in your home that will make you forget time and place.

2.0 UNPACKING
Be careful not to damage the contents when you unpack the parts. Depending on which DALI
MENTOR model you have bought, different accessories come with the loudspeaker. Check that all
parts are contained in the cardboard box (see Table 1). Keep the packaging materials should your
speaker need to be relocated or serviced.
3.0 POSITIONING
To achieve the best results, the loudspeaker setup should be symmetrical round your favorite
listening position (except for MENTOR SUB), (see Figure 1A – 1C). We recommend that you
experiment with the position of your loudspeakers – the sound quality will change depending on
the loudspeaker position. For MENTOR MENUET, 1, 2, LCR, VOKAL, the speakers should ideally be
positioned, so that the height of the tweeter is approximately at ear height when seated in your
favorite listening position. MENTOR 5, 6 and 8 and SUB are designed as floor standing speakers.
They should be positioned minimum 10 – 20 cm (4 – 8”) from the rear wall.
Ideally MENTOR MENUET, 1, 2, LCR, VOKAL, are designed to be positioned flat up against the
wall. MENTOR 2 is designed for both stand mounting and on-wall positioning flat up against the
wall. Objects positioned between the speaker and listening position might negatively affect sound
quality. The speakers are designed to meet our wide dispersion principle, so they should not be
angled towards the listening position, but be positioned parallel with the rear wall (see Figure
2). By parallel positioning, the distortion in the main listening area will be lowered and the room
integration will be better. The wide dispersion principle will also ensure that sound is spread
evenly within a large area in the listening room.

3.1 MENTOR 5, 6, 8
The speakers are designed to stand on the floor. Using spikes or rubber bumpers under the
speakers, (see Figure 3 +4). Be careful not to over tighten the contra nuts. Spikes or rubber
bumpers can improve the sound quality.You can try both to hear what gives the best sound quality
in your setup. Please be aware, that spikes may damage the floor, if it is not protected.
Note:
On some floor surfaces and in some rooms, the use of spikes is a crucial aspect of obtaining
the best result. The spikes included on MENTOR 8, 6 and 5, should be screwed in loosely in the
threaded holes in the bottom of the speaker. Place the loudspeaker upright on its spikes on the
floor, so that it stands steadily without rocking. Tighten the nuts, so that the four spikes sit tightly.
These assembly and setup steps ensure stable mechanical coupling to the surface beneath.
3.2 MENTOR 2
DALI recommends that you place your MENTOR 2 on a stand for the optimum sound experience.
Alternatively, MENTOR 2 can be placed on a shelf. The enclosed rubber bumpers can be mounted
under the speaker for stable and vibration-free positioning (see figure 4).
3.3 MENTOR MENUET + MENTOR 1
The speakers can be positioned on a stand/shelf or hung on the wall using an optional wall
bracket(s). If positioned on a stand or shelf, the enclosed rubber bumpers can be placed under the
speaker for stable and vibration-free positioning (see figure 4). For wall mounting you must use an
optional wall bracket(s) (available at all DALI dealers). Before mounting the speakers to the wall,
position the special bumpers, which are enclosed in the wall bracket packaging, on the rear edge
of the speaker. These bumpers ensure the correct distance from the wall.
3.4 MENTOR VOKAL
MENTOR VOKAL is the ultimate center channel and should be placed on a stand or a shelf.
The enclosed rubber bumpers can be placed under the speaker for stable and vibration-free
positioning (see figure 5).
3.5 MENTOR LCR
MENTOR LCR is suited for placement on a wall or lying on a shelf (as a center channel). For wall
mounting, use the two integrated wall brackets on the rear side of the speaker. Fix two screws in
the wall, a distance of 430 mm/16.9” apart, on which the speaker can hang. Position the screws
above each other if the speaker is used as Left or Right speaker (vertically – see figure 6) or next
to each other if the speaker is used as a center channel speaker (horizontally – see figure 7).
If placed on a shelf/stand and used as a center channel, the enclosed rubber bumpers can be
placed under the speaker for stable and vibration-free positioning (see figure 5).

3.6 Ribbon Tweeter Rotation on MENTOR LCR
On MENTOR LCR the ribbon tweeter can be rotated 90 degrees if the speaker is used as a center
channel in very wide set-ups.The ribbon tweeters are pre-configured for vertical positioning in the
factory. If the speaker is used as center channel in wide set-ups, your authorized dealer or service
facility can rotate the ribbon tweeter for you.
Remove the ribbon tweeter from the cabinet using a 3 mm Allen key to remove the four screws.
When disassembled, rotate the ribbon tweeter 90 degrees. Insert the rotated ribbon tweeter and
install it, using the four screws. Be careful not to over tighten the screws when assembling the
speaker again (see figure 8).
3.7 Grille position on MENTOR LCR
The grilles of the speakers are factory fitted for vertical positioning, i.e. the upper edge of the grille
is flush with the upper edge of the grey baffle. If the speaker is used in the horizontal position, the
grille can be rotated 180 degrees. The grille will thereby be symmetrical round the center axis of
the speaker (see figure 9).
3.8 Logo placement on MENTOR LCR
The speaker is delivered with a separate DALI logo badge, since the logo badge placement
depends on the chosen placement for the speaker (vertically or horizontally) (see figure 9). If the
speaker is mounted in a vertical position, the logo badge should be positioned on the grey front
baffle. If the speaker is in the horizontal direction, the logo should be positioned on the grille.
Please see and use the enclosed positioning template for mounting the logo badge. If you are in
doubt about how to mount the logo badge, please consult your DALI dealer.
4.0 CONNECTION
Correct, tight connections to your amplifier are extremely important for your listening experience.
Always use cables of the same type and length for left and right channels. We recommend using
special speaker cables from DALI, available from your dealer.
Connection in correct phase is a detail that is often ignored. The red (+) terminal of the amplifier
must be connected to the red (+) terminal of the loudspeaker.The black (-) terminal of the amplifier
must be connected to the black (-) terminal of the loudspeaker. (see figure 10).
For the optimal listening experience, the right loudspeaker (as seen from the listening position)
must be connected to the amplifier output terminals marked “R” or “Right” The left loudspeaker
must be connected to the amplifier output terminals marked“L”or“Left”Even a single loudspeaker
connected out-of-phase in a stereo or surround installation will make the bass weaker and the
stereo image unfocused.
Note:
Before connecting cables or changing any connections, ALWAYS turn off your amplifier.
Note:
Make sure that the bare conductors are tightly gripped by the terminals with no loose wires that
could cause a short circuit and damage the amplifier.
Note:
If you are using MENTOR in a surround system, follow the instructions included with your surround
amplifier.

4.1 Bi-wiring - MENTOR 2, 5, 6, 8, VOKAL
The top terminal pair is internally connected to the crossover network’s high frequency section.
The bottom terminal pair is internally connected to the crossover network’s bass section.When bi-
wiring or bi-amping,ALWAYS remove the metal jumpers between the terminals before connecting
cables. For bi-wiring, connect two sets of loudspeaker cable, one to the top terminals and one to
the bottom terminals. At the amplifier end, connect both sets of loudspeaker cables to the same
pair of terminals on the amplifier.
5.0 RUNNING- IN
Like any mechanical system, a loudspeaker requires a “running-in” period to perform at its best.
You will experience a gradual increase in sound quality during the first period of use. The break-
in period will vary depending on use and playback volume (approximately 50 hours at medium
volume is recommended). Unlike other mechanical systems, the life-span of a loudspeaker is
increased by normal, regular playback of music.
6.0 CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Clean the cabinets with a soft, dry cloth. If the cabinets are dirty, wipe with a soft cloth dipped in
all-purpose cleaner and then well wrung out. Be very careful when wiping the speaker cones, as
they are very fragile. Fabric frameworks can be cleaned with a clothes brush and wiped with a
well-wrung, lint-free cloth and mild all-purpose cleaner.
6.1 Avoid direct sunlight
The surfaces of the MENTOR Real Wood Veneers are sensitive to sunlight, which might cause color
fading over time. To reduce color fading, we recommend that you avoid exposing the loudspeaker
to direct sunlight.
7.0 DISPOSAL
If you want to dispose of this product, do not mix it with general household waste. There is a
separate collection system for used electronic products in accordance with legislation that
requires proper treatment, recovery and recycling. Private households in the EU member states,
Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Norway may return their used electronic products free of charge
to designated collection facilities or to a retailer (if you purchase a similar new one). If you reside
in countries not mentioned above, please contact your local authorities for the correct method
of disposal. By following this process, you will ensure that your disposed product undergoes the
necessary treatment, recovery and recycling and thus prevent potential negative effects on the
environment and human health.

8.0 POWER AND ACOUSTIC PRESSURE
How loud a speaker is able to play and still sound good is completely dependent on the signal
it has to reproduce. So, in practice, you cannot define an unequivocal level for use in comparing
different speakers.
Obviously, lots of pure, undistorted output from a large amplifier is better than a distorted signal
from a small amplifier stretched beyond its capacity.The signal from a distorting (clipping) amplifier
contains much more high-frequency information than an undistorted signal, and therefore puts
a heavy strain on the tweeter. Consequently, speakers are often damaged by small amplifiers,
having to work too hard - and very rarely by large amplifiers, which are practically running idle.
It is worth noting that when the tone controls are turned above the neutral setting this significantly
burdens both speakers and amplifier. On a good sound system tone controls should only be used
to compensate for poor recordings and not to permanently compensate for weaknesses elsewhere
in the system. So, DALI recommends that the tone controls generally be set to the neutral position,
and you achieve your desired sound image through correct positioning of the speakers. Ensuring
that you keep the volume low enough so the sound remains clear and undistorted will minimise
the strain on both speakers and amplifier.
All DALI loudspeakers are designed with linear impedance to be an optimal amplifier load. The
result is significantly more open and detailed sonic image.
9.0 MENTOR SUB
DALI MENTOR SUB has a built-in power amplifier and an active crossover. Both the amount
and quality of the deep bass depend on the size and shape of the room, and the position of
the subwoofer(s) and main speakers. If positioned near a side or back wall, the bass will be
accentuated. A corner location will accentuate it even more. Experiment with different positions to
find which provides the ideal sound for you. The airflow from the DALI MENTOR SUB is radiated
from the bottom of the cabinet.To ensure, that this airflow is not blocked, thus negatively affecting
the bass performance, we recommend placing the subwoofer with minimum 5 cm (2”) of
clearance on all sides.
MENTOR SUB comes with a handy remote control (see figure 12).
On the rear side of the subwoofer you will find the amplifier (see figure 11), which has the following
features:

Press the relevant button and adjust to the desired value using the ‘+’ and ‘-’ buttons.
FREQUENCY RANGE: 40 - 120 Hz
VOLUME RANGE: 0 - 30 dB
PHASE SELECTIONS: 0°, 90°, 180° or 270°

3) Power LED
LED off: Mains power is Off
LED green: Subwoofer is On
LED red: Subwoofer is in Stand-by mode
4) Auto/manual
Flick the switch to the desired position.
AUTO: Switch up = The subwoofer will automatically power up upon detection of an input
signal on the LINE IN inputs. The Subwoofer will power down after approximately 20
minutes with no input signal present on the input connectors.
MANUAL: Switch down = Stand-by only possible via the Remote Control.
5) Left + right line inputs
Using these inputs activates the built-in crossover and makes Crossover Frequency and
Phase adjustment possible.
Use these inputs for the stereo set-up
LEFT: Connect to the LEFT RCA line output on your stereo/surround (pre-) amplifier.
RIGHT: Connect to the RIGHT RCA line output on your stereo/surround (pre-) amplifier.
6) LFE line input
Using this input by-passes the built-in crossover. All adjustments must be done from your
surround (pre-) amplifier.
Use this input for surround systems e.g. 5.1 and 7.1.
LFE: Connect to the LFE RCA line output on your surround (pre-)amplifier.
7) ON/OFF switch
Switch to turn the subwoofer On/Off from the mains supply.
8) Mains fuse - ATTENTION!
If the subwoofer does not power up in the ON position, the fuse might be blown. To replace
the fuse, unplug the mains cable, open the fuse compartment and replace the fuse with
one of the same type .If the fuse blows multiple times, have the subwoofer serviced by
qualified personnel. Please note that the voltage range written below the mains fuse holder
must match the voltage of your mains supply.
120V version: Use/replace w.T5AL/250V fuse
220-240V version: Use/replace w.T2.5AL/250V fuse

Remote Control (see figure 12)
A) Standby ON/OFF
Press to toggle between the two states (ON/OFF switch on the rear panel must be set to
ON).
Note:
When the AUTO/MANUAL switch is set to AUTO, the subwoofer cannot be turned off with
signal on the inputs.
B) Mute
Press to mute the subwoofer. The display on the front of the subwoofer will show “---”.
Press again to un-mute the subwoofer.
C,D,E) Phase, frequency and volume adjustment
Press the relevant button and adjust to the desired value using the ‘+’ and ‘-’ buttons. The
display on the front of the subwoofer will show the selected value:
FREQUENCY RANGE: 40 - 120 Hz
VOLUME RANGE: 0 - 30 dB
PHASE RANGE: 0°, 90°, 180° or 270°
F) Memories 1, 2 & 3
When you have adjusted Frequency, Volume, Phase to the desired values, they can be
stored in and recalled from the memory positions 1, 2 and 3.
To store a preset: Press and hold the desired memory button (1, 2 or 3) on the remote for
more than 3 seconds. When the values are stored as a preset, the subwoofer display will
confirm by flashing “-1-”, “-2-” or “-3-” three times, according to the memory you have
selected.
Please note that existing presets in the memory will be over written, if settings are restored
in one of the memories.
To recall a preset: Briefly press the desired memory button (1, 2 or 3). When a preset is
recalled, the subwoofer display will show “-1-”, “-2-” or “-3-” for 2 seconds according to
the memory you have recalled.
G) Battery
Open the battery compartment on the remote and insert the battery as on the illustration
(see figure 14). When the battery needs to be replaced (depends on frequency of use), use
ONLY a lithium cell battery type CR2025,3V.
ATTENTION! Keep the remote out of reach of children as they might be choked by
eating the remote or parts of it including the battery.
Display (see figure 13)
On the front of the subwoofer there is a translucent logo badge/display. The settings of the
subwoofer can be seen on the display when the subwoofer is operated by the remote control or
the buttons on the amplifier.

9.1 Adjustment of the sub woofer
When you have decided upon which method of connection you want and positioned the subwoofer,
you can commence the exciting process of tuning the system. Please note that positioning the
subwoofer will have a big influence on its contribution to the overall sound, e.g. if the DALI
MENTOR SUB is positioned in a corner the bass will be much heavier than if it is positioned
midway between two corners. The following tuning method is recommended to achieve the best
results: Use a piece of music you know well, preferably one including rhythmic bass such as kettle
drums, bass guitar etc. Start adjusting the subwoofer by setting the ON/OFF switch to ON. Set the
AUTO/MANUAL switch to AUTO. Adjust the subwoofer using the remote or the buttons on the rear
panel of the subwoofer.

When adjusting, the logo / LED display on the front of the subwoofer will show your setting.
Note:
We recommend that you take advantage of the remote control option and adjust the settings of the
sub woofer from the listening position.
9.2 Overloading the subwoofer
If DALI MENTOR SUB is overloaded, the built-in safety circuit will cut the power off. If this occurs let
it cool down before turning it back on.The built-in safety circuit is not a guarantee against damage
as a result of overloading.
9.3 Power
The POWER button is the main ON/OFF switch. We recommend switching OFF the system when
it is not to be used for long periods. When changing connections, always disconnect the mains
voltage to the subwoofer .We recommend that you ALWAYS turn off the DALI MENTOR SUB with
the Remote Control BEFORE turning off the mains switch.
10. THE LISTENING ROOM
Every room has its own distinctive acoustics, which influence the way we experience sound from
a speaker. The sound you hear consists of direct sound from the speakers and reflected sound
from the floor, ceiling and walls. The latter will affect how you experience the sound. As a basic
rule, try to avoid large, hard and reflective areas in the immediate vicinity of your loudspeakers
as it will typically cause strong reflections, which might disturb the precision and spatial effect
of the sound reproduction. Reflection might be suppressed by positioning e.g. a plant between
the speaker and the reflecting surface. Soft items such as carpets, curtains etc. might help if the
sound is too bright. Both the amount and quality of the deep bass depend on the size and shape
of the room, and the position of the speakers. Positioning the speakers near a side or back wall
will accentuate the bass.
A corner location will accentuate it even more, but will also increase the reflections.
11. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
In Table 2 you will find the most common specifications for our speakers. Please have in mind that
there are countless methods for measuring speakers. However, none of them tell you anything
useful about how a speaker really sounds. Only your ears can decide whether one speaker sounds
better than another. Like all our speakers, DALI MENTOR series is designed to reproduce music
as honestly as possible.

10 Stromquellen: Das Gerät sollte ausschließlich an
Stromquellen des in der Betriebsanleitung bzw. am Gerät

11 Schutz der Stromkabel: Verlegen Sie die Kabel für die
Netzverbindung so, dass möglichst niemand darauf treten
wird und sie auch nicht eingequetscht werden. Dabei ist
besonders auf die Kabelabschnitte nahe der Steckdose und
in unmittelbarer Nähe des Geräts zu achten. Netzkabel dient
als Hauptschalter.
12 Reinigung: Verwenden Sie keine flüssigen Reinigungsmittel.
Benutzen Sie nur einen trockenen Lappen zum Abwischen
von Staub und Fett.
13 Nichtgebrauch: Bei längerem Nichtgebrauch sollte der
Netzstecker gezogen werden.
14 Eindringen von Objekten oder Flüssigkeiten: Achten Sie
darauf, dass durch die Öffnungen keine Gegenstände
ins Gehäuse fallen und keine Flüssigkeiten dort hinein
verschüttet werden.
15 Schäden, die eine qualifizierte Wartung bzw. Reparatur
erfordern: Bringen Sie das Gerät in folgenden Fällen zum
Fachmann:
a) wenn das Stromkabel oder der Stecker beschädigt
wurde; oder
b) wenn Objekte ins Gerät gefallen sind oder
Flüssigkeit eingedrungen ist; oder
c) wenn das Gerät im Regen gestanden hat; oder

1.0 EINLEITUNG
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zu Ihrem neuen DALI MENTOR Lautsprecher. Es ist uns wichtig, dass Ihre
neuen DALI Lautsprecher optimal aufgestellt und angeschlossen werden. Deshalb empfehlen wir
Ihnen, dass Sie das vorliegende Benutzerhandbuch lesen und den darin enthaltenen Anleitungen
folgen. Dieses Benutzerhandbuch enthält Anleitungen für die Aufstellung und den Anschluss sowie
Tipps und Ratschläge, wie Sie Ihre neuen Lautsprecher optimal nutzen.
DALI genießt auf der ganzen Welt den Ruf, einzigartige Lautsprecher zu bauen und dabei
kompromisslosen Standards in Bezug auf Design und Leistung zu folgen. Jeder einzelne DALI

2.0 AUSPACKEN
Achten Sie darauf, die teile beim Auspacken nicht zu beschädigen. Abhängig von dem DALI
MENTOR Modell, für welches Sie sich entschieden haben, befinden sich unterschiedliche
Zubehörteile in der Verpackung. Prüfen Sie, ob alle teile in dem Pappkarton enthalten sind, siehe
Tabelle 1. Heben Sie das Verpackungsmaterial auf für den Fall, dass Sie umziehen oder den
Lautsprecher zur Reparatur schicken müssen.
3.0 POSITIONIERUNG
Das beste Ergebnis erzielen Sie, wenn Sie die Lautsprecher symmetrisch um Ihre bevorzugte
Hörposition herum aufstellen (außer MENTOR SUB), (siehe Abb.1A – 1C). Wir empfehlen Ihnen,
mit verschiedenen Lautsprecherpositionen zu experimentieren – die Klangqualität ändert
sich je nach Lautsprecherposition. Beim MENTOR MENUET, 1, 2, LCR und VOKAL sollten die
Lautsprecher idealerweise so positioniert werden, dass die Höhe des Hochtöners in etwa auf
„Ohrenhöhe“ ist, wenn Sie in Ihrer bevorzugten Hörposition sitzen. MENTOR 5, 6, 8 and SUB
sind als Standlautsprecher vorgesehen. Der Abstand von der Rückseite des Lautsprechers zur
Raumwand sollte mindestens 10 – 20 cm betragen.
MENTOR MENUET, 1, 2, LCR und VOKAL kann direkt an der Wand aufgestellt werden. MENTOR 2
ist als Standlautsprecher vorgesehen und kann direkt an der Wand aufgestellt werden.
Gegenstände zwischen Lautsprecher und Hörposition können die Klangqualität beeinträchtigen.
Die Lautsprecher sind für eine breite Streuung gebaut,deshalb sollten sie nicht in einem Winkel zur
Hörposition aufgestellt werden, sondern parallel zu einer Rückwand (siehe Abb.2). Bei paralleler
Aufstellung verringert sich die Verzerrung in der Haupt-Hörposition und die Raumintegration
verbessert sich. Das „Wide Dispersion“-Prinzip sorgt auch für eine gleichmäßige Abstrahlung des
Klangs innerhalb eines großen Bereichs im Hörraum.
3.1 MENTOR 5, 6, 8
Die Lautsprecher sind für das Aufstellen auf dem Boden, mit Spikes oder mit Gummifüße
vorgesehen (siehe Abb.3 + 4). Spikes oder Gummifüße können die Klangqualität verbessern.
Testen Sie beides, und finden Sie die optimale Klangqualität für Ihre Aufstellung. Bitte beachten
Sie, dass Spikes den Fußboden beschädigen können.

Bitte beachten:
Auf manchen Fußbodenoberflächen und in manchen Räumen stellt die Verwendung von Spikes
einen entscheidenden Aspekt für die Erzielung bestmöglicher Ergebnisse dar. Die im Lieferumfang
enthaltenen Spikes sollten zunächst nur leicht in die Gewindemuffen geschraubt werden, die sich
an der Unterseite der Lautsprecher befinden. Stellen Sie den Lautsprecher senkrecht auf den
Fußboden und stellen Sie die vier Spikes ein bis der Lautsprecher einen festen Stand hat und
nicht wackelt. Ziehen Sie nun die Gegenmuttern fest, bis die vier Spikes fest sitzen. Durch diesen
Aufbau wird eine stabile mechanische Koppelung an die Oberfläche unterhalb des Lautsprechers
gewährleistet.
3.2 MENTOR 2
DALI empfiehlt für ein optimales Klangerlebnis, den MENTOR 2 auf einen Ständer zu stellen.
Alternativ kann der MENTOR 2 auch auf einem Regal aufgestellt werden. Die mitgelieferten
Gummifüße können unter dem Lautsprecher angebracht werden, um einen stabilen und
vibrationsfreien Stand zu gewährleisten (siehe Abb. 4).
3.3 MENTOR MENUET und MENTOR 1
Die Lautsprecher können auf einen Ständer bzw. ein Regal gestellt oder mit den optionalen
Wandhalterungen an der Wand aufgehängt werden. Wenn der Lautsprecher auf einen Ständer
oder ein Regal gestellt wird, können die mitgelieferten Gummifüße angebracht werden, um einen
stabilen und vibrationsfreien Stand zu gewährleisten (siehe Abb. 4). Für die Wandaufhängung
müssen Sie die optionalen Wandhalterungen benutzen (erhältlich bei allen DALI-Händlern). Vor
der Wandmontage sind die speziellen Wandabstandshalter, die den Wandhalterungen beiliegen,
auf der Rückseite der Lautsprecher zu montieren. Diese Wandabstandshalter sorgen für einen
korrekten Abstand von der Wand.
3.4 MENTOR VOKAL
MENTORVOKAL ist der ultimative Center-Kanal und sollte auf einem Ständer oder Regal aufgestellt
werden. Die mitgelieferten Gummifüße können unter dem Lautsprecher angebracht werden, um
einen stabilen und vibrationsfreien Stand zu gewährleisten (siehe Abb. 5).
3.5 MENTOR LCR
MENTOR LCR kann an der Wand aufgehängt oder auf ein Regal gestellt werden (als Center-
Kanal). Zur Wandmontage sind die beiden integrierten Wandhalterungen auf der Rückseite des
Lautsprechers zu benutzen. Dazu sind zwei Wandschrauben (Abstand voneinander 430 mm)
notwendig, an denen die Box hängen kann. Wenn der Lautsprecher als linker oder rechter Kanal
eingesetzt wird, müssen die Schrauben senkrecht übereinander stehen (siehe Abb. 6).Wenn er als
Center-Kanal benutzt wird, müssen sie waagerecht nebeneinander stehen (siehe Abb. 7).
Wenn der Lautsprecher auf einen Ständer oder ein Regal gestellt und als Center-Kanal benutzt wird,
können die mitgelieferten Gummifüße angebracht werden, um einen stabilen und vibrationsfreien
Stand zu gewährleisten (Siehe Abb. 5).
3.6 Drehen des Bändchen-Hochtöners beim MENTOR LCR
Beim MENTOR LCR kann der Bändchen-Hochtöner um 90 Grad gedreht werden, wenn der
Lautsprecher als Center-Kanal benutzt wird. Fabrikseitig werden die Bändchen-Hochtöner
senkrecht montiert. Ihr autorisierter Händler oder Kundendienst kann den Bändchen-Hochtöner
wenn nötig für Sie drehen.

Mit einem 3 mm-Inbusschlüssel sind die vier Schrauben, die das Bändchen halten, zu entfernen.
Nachdem der Bändchen-Hochtöner auf diese Weise vom Gehäuse getrennt wurde, ist er um 90
Grad zu drehen. Dann ist er wieder ins Gehäuse einzusetzen und mit den vier Schrauben zu
befestigen. Dabei ist darauf zu achten, dass die Schrauben nicht überdreht werden (Siehe Abb. 8).
3.7 Position der Frontabdeckung MENTOR LCR
Fabrikseitig sind die Frontabdeckungen für eine senkrechte Aufstellung montiert, d. h. das obere
Ende der Abdeckungen schließt mit des Oberkante der grauen Fronts ab. Wenn der Lautsprecher
waagerecht aufgestellt werden soll, kann die Abdeckunge um 180 Grad gedreht werden. Die
Abdeckung ist dann symmetrisch zur Mittelachse des Lautsprechers (siehe Abb. 9).
3.8 Position des Logos beim MENTOR LCR
Der Lautsprecher wird mit separater DALI-Logoplakette geliefert, weil die Position des Logos
von der gewählten Aufstellung des Lautsprechers (senkrecht oder waagerecht) abhängt (siehe
Abb. 9). Wenn der Lautsprecher senkrecht aufgestellt wird, sollte das Logo an der grauen
Frontabdeckung angebracht werden. Wenn er waagerecht aufgestellt wird, sollte das Logo am
Frontgitter angebracht werden. Beachten und benutzen Sie bitte die beiliegende Schablone,
um die Logoplakette korrekt zu positionieren. Sollten Sie nicht sicher sein, wie die Logoplakette
montiert wird, wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihren DALI-Händler.
4.0 ANSCHLUSS
Ein korrekter und fester Anschluss der Lautsprecher an Ihren Verstärker ist von entscheidender
Bedeutung für Ihr Hörerlebnis.
Verwenden Sie für den rechten und linken Kanal stets Kabel desselben Typs und derselben Länge.
Wir empfehlen die Verwendung spezieller Lautsprecherkabel von DALI. Diese sind bei Ihrem DALI
Händler erhältlich.
Die korrekte Polung der Anschlüsse ist ein sehr häufig außer Acht gelassenes Detail. Der rote
Plus-Anschluss (+) des Verstärkers muss mit dem roten Plus-Anschluss (+) des Lautsprechers
verbunden werden. Der schwarze Minus-Anschluss (-) des Verstärkers muss mit dem schwarzen
Minus-Anschluss (-) des Lautsprechers verbunden werden (siehe Abb 10).
Für ein optimales Hörerlebnis muss der rechte Lautsprecher (von der Hörposition aus betrachtet)
an die mit „R“, „Right“ oder „Rechts“ bezeichneten Verstärkerausgänge angeschlossen werden.
Der linke Lautsprecher muss an die mit „L“, „Left“ oder „Links“ bezeichneten Verstärkerausgänge
angeschlossen werden. Ein einziger falsch gepolter Lautsprecher führt in einem Stereo- oder
Surround-System zu schwächeren Bässen und einem unklaren Stereobild.

Schalten Sie bitte IMMER Ihren Verstärker aus,bevor Sie Kabel verbinden oder Anschlüsse ändern!

Vergewissern Sie sich, dass die Aderleitungen fest mit den Anschlüssen verbunden sind und
keine losen Drähte einen Kurzschluss verursachen können, durch den Ihr Verstärker beschädigt
werden könnte.

Falls Sie MENTOR in einer Surround-Anlage einsetzen, befolgen Sie genau die Anleitung zu Ihrem
Surround-Verstärker, weil schon ein einzelner Lautsprecher, der nicht in der richtigen Phase
angeschlossen ist, zu einem schwächeren Bass und einem diffusen Klangbild führt.
4.1 Bi-Wiring Anschlusstechnik – MENTOR 2, 5, 6, 8 und VOKAL
DasobereTerminal-AnschlussPaarist internmitdem HochtonfrequenzbereichderFrequenzweiche
verbunden. Das untere Terminal-Anschluss Paar ist intern mit dem Tieftonfrequenzbereich der
Frequenz-weiche verbunden.Wenn Sie dieVerkabelungsmethode des Bi-Wiring oder Bi-Amping (in
Bezug auf den Verstärker) verwenden, achten Sie bitte IMMER darauf, dass Sie die Metallbrücken
zwischen den Anschluss-Terminals herausnehmen, bevor Sie die Kabel anschließen. Für eine
Bi-Wiring Verkabelung müssen Sie zwei Stereo Lautsprecherkabel anschließen, jeweils eines an
die oberen und eines an die unteren Anschluss-Terminals des Lautsprechers. Verstärkerseitig
schließen Sie beide Lautsprecherkabel an dasselbe Terminal-Anschluss Paar an.
5.0 EINLAUFZEIT
Wie jedes mechanische System erfordert auch ein Lautsprecher eine gewisse Zeit, bevor er
seine optimale Leistung erbringt. In der ersten Zeit werden Sie erleben, wie sich die Klangqualität
allmählich immer weiter verbessert. Die Dauer dieser Einspielzeit hängt von der Häufigkeit der
Benutzung und der gewählten Lautstärke ab (wir empfehlen etwa 50 Stunden bei mittlerer
Lautstärke). Im Gegensatz zu anderen mechanischen Systemen erhöht sich die Lebensdauer
eines Lautsprechers durch regelmäßigen normalen Gebrauch.
6.0 PFLEGE
Reinigen Sie das Gehäuse mit einem weichen, trockenen Tuch. Sollte das Gehäuse verschmutzt
werden, verwenden Sie für die Reinigung ein weiches Tuch, das Sie zuvor in Allzweckreiniger
getaucht und anschließend gründlich ausgewrungen haben. Lassen Sie äußerste Vorsicht walten,
wenn Sie die Lautsprechermembran säubern, da diese sehr empfindlich ist. Frontabdeckungen
kann mit einer normalen Kleiderbürste gesäubert werden oder mit einem gründlich
ausgewrungenen, fusselfreien Tuch und Allzweckreiniger säubern.
6.1 Direktes Sonnenlicht vermeiden
Die Oberflächen des MENTOR Real Wood Veneers reagieren empfindlich auf Sonnenlicht, was
mit der Zeit zum Verblassen der Farben führen kann. Um ein Verblassen der Farben zu vermeiden
empfehlen wir, die Lautsprecherbox keiner direkten Sonnenstrahlung auszusetzen.
7.0 ENTSORGUNG
Entsorgen Sie dieses Produkt nicht gemeinsam mit dem Haushaltsmüll. Es gibt ein getrenntes
Sammelsystem für gebrauchte elektronische Produkte gemäß der gesetzlichen Regelung, die
eine richtige Behandlung, Rückgewinnung und Wiederverwertung verlangt. Privathaushalte in den
Mitgliedstaaten der EU, der Schweiz, Liechtenstein und in Norwegen können ihre gebrauchten
elektronischen Produkte kostenlos an dafür eingerichteten Sammelstellen abgeben. Sie können
es auch bei einem Händler abgeben, wenn Sie ein ähnliches neues Produkt kaufen. Wenn Sie in
einem Land wohnen, das nicht oben aufgeführt wurde, wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihre örtlichen
Behörden, um sich nach der korrekten Art der Entsorgung zu erkundigen. Auf diese Weise stellen
Sie sicher, dass das zu entsorgende Produkt der notwendigen Behandlung, Rückgewinnung und
Wiederverwertung unterzogen wird, wodurch mögliche negative Einflüsse auf die umwelt und die
menschliche Gesundheit verhindert werden.

8.0 LEISTUNG UND SCHALLDRUCK
Mit wieviel Volumen ein Schallwandler Musik wiedergeben kann und dabei noch gut klingt, hängt
ausschließlich von dem von ihm zu reproduzierenden Signal ab. Deswegen ist es in der Praxis
unmöglich, eindeutige Standards für die Verwendung von Schallwandlern zu definieren.
Ein überwiegend reiner, unverzerrter Output einer leistungsstarken Endstufe ist ohne Frage besser
als das verzerrte Signal eines überlasteten Verstärkers. Das von einem verzerrten (übersteuerten)
Verstärker stammende Signal enthält weitaus mehr Hochtonfrequenz Informationen als ein
unverzerrtes Signal. Darum erhöht sich die Belastung für den Hochtöner stark. Folglich werden
Lautsprecher häufig durch kleine und zu leistungsschwache Endstufen beschädigt, da diese
dann zu viel Arbeit verrichten müssen. Nur sehr selten werden Schäden durch große Verstärker
hervorgerufen, da diese praktisch völlig untätig bleiben.
Wichtig ist in diesem Zusammenhang auch, dass sich durch eine Aussteuerung der Tonregler
über die neutralen Werte hinaus die auf Lautsprechern und Verstärker liegende Last erheblich
erhöht. In einem guten Sound-System sollten die Tonregler zur Einstellung der Klangfarbe lediglich
eingesetzt werden, um schlechte Aufnahmen auszugleichen, aber nicht, um andere Schwächen
des Systems dauerhaft zu kompensieren. So empfiehlt DALI generell, die Klangfar-beneinstellung
in der neutralen Position zu belassen. Ihr gewünschtes Klangbild erreichen Sie vielmehr durch
eine korrekte Positionierung der Lautsprecher.
Achten Sie darauf, dass Sie die Lautstärke so niedrig halten, dass der Klang klar und unverzerrt

Allen DALI Lautsprechern liegt das Konzept der linearen Impedanz zu Grunde, um für eine
optimale auf dem Verstärker liegende Last zu sorgen. Das Ergebnis ist ein erheblich offeneres und
detailreicheres Klangbild.
9.0 MENTOR SUB
Der MENTOR SUB ist ein aktiver Subwoofer mit eingebautem Verstärker. Quantität und Qualität
des Bassklangs hängen von der Größe und Form des Raums sowie von der Positionierung des/
der Subwoofer/s und der Hauptlautsprecher ab. Wird der Lautsprecher nahe an einer Seiten-
oder Rückwand aufgestellt, verstärkt sich der Bassklang. Bei Aufstellung in einer Ecke ist dieser
Effekt noch stärker. Experimentieren Sie mit unterschiedlichen Positionen, bis Sie den idealen
Bassklang gefunden haben. Der Luftstrom vom DALI MENTOR SUB wird vom Boden des Gehäuses
abgestrahlt. Damit der Luftstrom nicht blockiert und die Bassleistung nicht beeinträchtigt wird,
empfehlen wir, den Subwoofer in einem Mindestabstand von 5 cm nach allen Seiten aufzustellen.
Der MENTOR SUB wird mit einer handlichen Fernbedienung geliefert (Siehe Abb. 12)
