Introduction
Introduction to Bluetooth Wireless Technology
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communication technology. It allows wireless connections between
Bluetooth devices such as cellular phones, personal digital assistants (PDA), desktop and notebooks
computers, input-output devices (mouse, keyboards, and printers), and home appliances. Bluetooth refers to
a worldwide standard designed to operate in the internationally recognized ISM (Industrial Scientific and
Medical) frequency band. Within the ISM band (2.4 GHz –2.48 GHz) Bluetooth transmissions hop
between 79 separate frequencies 1,600 times every second, and with a communication range of about 10
meters.

Electromagnetic Interference/Compatibility
Note: Nearly every electronic device is susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI) if inadequately
shielded, designed, or otherwise configured for electromagnetic compatibility.
Aircraft
When instructed to do so, turn off your phone when on board an aircraft. Any use of a phone must be in
accordance with applicable regulations per airline crew.
Medical Devices
Pacemakers
The health industry Manufactures Association recommends that a minimum of 6 inches (15cm) be
maintained between a handheld wireless phone and a pacemaker. These recommendations are consistent
with the independent research by, and recommendations of, Wireless Technology Research.
Persons with pacemakers should:

•ALWAYS keep the phone and the Bluetooth phone module more than six inches from your
pacemaker when the phone is turned ON.
•Not carry the phone and the Bluetooth phone module in the breast pocket.
•Use the ear opposite the pacemaker to minimize the potential for interference.
•Turn OFF the phone immediately if you have any reason to suspect that interference is taking
place.
Hearing Aids
Some digital wireless phones may interfere with some hearing aids. In the event of such interference, you
may want to consult with your hearing aid manufacturer to discuss alternatives.
Other Medical Devices
If you use any other medical devices, consult the manufacturer of your device to determine if it is
adequately shielded from RF energy. Your physician may be able to assist you in obtaining this
information.

This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

Because this Bluetooth™ headset is very small it is not practicable to place the label including the FCC
statement on it. Therefore the required labeling information is placed in this chapter of the user’s manual of
this Dallab Bluetooth headset. However the FCC identifier is displayed on the packaging of the Bluetooth
headset in an appropriate form.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant
to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful
interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency
energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to
radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular
installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be
determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by
one or more of the following measures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

Preparing to use your Dallab:
Charging the battery
The DALLAB Headset comes with a rechargeable battery included. The battery is not fully charged when
it is new. For first time use, it takes at least 8 hours to fully charge the battery. Then after, it will take about
4 hours to fully charge the battery. With battery fully charged, the talk time will be 4 to 5 hours, and the
stand-by time will be about 72 hours.
Audio tone during call in progress indicates the headset battery requires to be charged.
A beep is repeated approximately every 10 seconds and will be heard from the headset while a call is in
progress.
Turning the headset ON/OFF
To turn your headset ON:
Press and hold the for approximately 3 seconds, the headset speaker will emit a melody. When the
headset is turned ON the blue LED will be steady ON for approximately 4 to 5 seconds. Afterwards, the
blue LED will blink several times. At standby, the blue LED will blink every 10 seconds.
To turn your headset OFF:
Press and hold for approximately 3 seconds, the speaker will emit a melody, red LED will be steady
ON for approximately 1 second. Afterwards, the red LED will blink several times indicating the headset
turning OFF.
Check phone compatibility
DALLAB is compatible with most Bluetooth phones (version 1.1) with headset or hands-free profile.
Ensure that your phone has Bluetooth capability by visiting your phone manufacturer’s web site.
Pairing to a Bluetooth phone
Before using your headset for the first time, you must pair it with a particular Bluetooth cell phone
previously. “Pairing” process creates a unique wireless link between two devices. Once paired, the
communication between two devices does not need any authentication or authorization anymore.
Please follow the instruction below to pair the headset with a Bluetooth cell phone:
1. Ensure the headset is ON.
2. Press and hold and or simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds until the headset
blue LED starts to blink.
3. The status indicates that the headset is in pairing mode and waiting to be paired with another Bluetooth
device.
4. Follow the operating instructions for your Bluetooth phone to start a pairing process.
5. Your phone’s display will indicate that it found one or more Bluetooth devices, the “dallab 80” should be
included in the list, please select it for pairing.
6. The phone’s display then prompts you for a pairing passkey or PIN, please enter four eights “8888”.
7. When the pairing process is finished successfully, the headset blue LED will flash every 10 seconds.
8. Your phone’s display may ask you whether you want to change the headset’s name; you can replace the
“Bluetooth Headset” with any name you may prefer.

If you have a Bluetooth phone that supports the handsfree Bluetooth profile, please refer to
Sophisticated features section which includes features like Last Number Redial, Call Transfer,
Call Waiting etc.
Wearing the headset
•The headset can be used in both ears. Hold the headset with the opposite hand while
holding your ear with the other hand. For instance, if you want to place the headset onyour left
ear, hold the headset with your right hand while holding your ear with your left hand.
•While holding the headset, pull slightly the small speaker away from your ear and place the
headset on your ear as shown on the picture.
•Position the headset properly on your ear and then release the speaker. Finally, make sure that the
speaker fits well into your ear. At this stage it should be stable and comfortable.
•Your headset is now ready to be used.
Answering/Ending a call
Answering a call.
After being paired with your cell phone, the headset is ready to receive incoming calls without using the
phone. When there’s an incoming call, the headset’s speaker will emit a melody tone and the blue LED will
flash, you can answer the incoming call by pressing either or or then speak normally.
Ending a call.
You can use either of the ways to end a call:
1. Press the headset’s to end a call.
2. Press the phone’s keypad to end a call.
Making a call
There are two ways to make calls:
1. Using the phone’s keypad:
As general usage, dial the phone number you want to call by pressing the phone’s keypad.
2. Using the Voice Dialing through the headset:
What is voice dialing?
Voice dialing is a feature on some Bluetooth phones which allows you to make calls by saying the name of
the person you want to call. The phone compares your voice with your previous recording (called a voice
tag). If they match then the phone will automatically dial the corresponding phone number. Not all
Bluetooth phones support voice dialing, please refer to your phone’s spec to make sure whether your phone
supports this feature.
The headset does not have a keyboard so it’s necessary to use voice dialing to make calls. Voice commands
are especially useful when you are using the headset. To do this you have to record voice tags for the
contacts in your phone address book. If your phone supports voice dialing function, you can use this feature
with the headset easily. Note that the voice dialing on your phone must be enabled and the voice tags must
have been recorded previously.

•Briefly press once.
•After the tone, say the name of the person you want to call.
•The phone number will be dialed automatically by phone after recognizing the correct voice tag.
Rejecting the call
Short Press twice to reject an incoming call.
Muting a Call
If you need to ‘mute’ a call during your conversation, long press for approximately 3seconds (be sure
not to press down on as this will end your call).Once your call is muted, you may release . You
will be able to hear the party you were speaking with on your headset, but they will not be able to hear you.
To continue your conversation, simply long press for approximately 3seconds, normal talk function
will resume, your party will be able to hear you again and you can resume your conversation.
Transferring Call from your Phone to the headset
If you initiate a call without using the headset, you can transfer the call to the headset if the headset is on,
paired with the phone and within range.
To transfer call to the headset, short press to transfer the call to the headset.
Sophisticated Features (for Bluetooth phones with hands-free profile)
Call Waiting
When your phone notifies you of another incoming call during conversation,hold and release only
when you hear a short melody indicating that your headset has now been switched to the second call. The
first calling party will automatically be put on hold and vice versa.
To end the second call during conversation,short press once to return to the first calling party and
vice versa.
Last Number Redial
Short press or will trigger the phone to redial the last number. The call is automatically
transferred to the headset.
Reject an incoming call (incoming ring)
Long Press to reject an incoming call.
Termination of outgoing call (before being connected to the outside party)
Short press to end the call.
Call Transfer from headset to phone (while a call is in progress)
Long press will automatically transfer the call to the phone.
Tips for Nokia Bluetooth Phones
Connecting the paired Headset to your phone:
The headset is disconnected from the phone when, for example the headset is switched off. To connect the
headset to your phone, switch on the headset or make the connection in the phone’s Bluetooth menu. Short
press to establish a connection between the headset and your phone.
Note that switching on the headset creates the connection automatically only if you have set the phone to
accept Bluetooth connection requests without your permission. In Nokia phones this can be done by
changing your paired devices settings in the Bluetooth menu.

Battery Information
1. New batteries
For first time use, plug the adapter into the Headset and charge it at least 8 hours.
2. Battery care
•Only qualified Service Centers are authorized to remove or replace the battery.
•The rechargeable battery has a long service life if treated with care.

•The battery can only be charged in a temperature range of –10 C to 45 C.
•Use the battery in room temperature for maximum battery capacity.
•The battery capacity may be reduced if operating in a cold environment. (The Headset has to be
recharged every two months, when it is not in use during a long time)
3. Disposal of Battery
Remove the battery before disposing the headset.
Check with local authority of your country on disposing the battery.

Troubleshooting
No sound contact between headset and phone
The headset and the phone you are using with it have to be paired to recognize each other.
They also have to be within range of each other. Make sure that there are no solid objects, such as walls or
furniture, in between the headset and the phone.
Indicator light on the headset does not turn on when charging
Ensure that the AC power adaptor is plugged firmly into the electrical wall socket.
Ensure the cable coming from the AC power adaptor is firmly plugged all the way into the headset.
Headset does not ‘pair’ with Bluetooth phone
If your phone indicates that pairing was unsuccessful, then ensure that all other nearby Bluetooth devices
(except for the Dallab headset) are off and reattempt ‘pairing’.
Crackling noise

There is an interfering signal nearby.
You have exceeded the 10meters wireless range.
Voice commands not working properly
If you fail using the voice commands you have recorded through your phone, record them through the
headset again.
Charging during a call
You should not charge the headset during a call. The call might be disconnected.
