Your Room Air Conditioner is designed to be
highly efficient in energy savings, Followthese
recommendations for greater efficiency.
!. SeIecl Ihermoetat setting that suite your
comfort needs and leave thermostat at that
chosen setting.
2. The flfteris very efficient in removing airborne
particles. Keep air filter ctean. Normally, filter
should be cteaned every 2:weeks., More
frequent cleaning may be necessary depending
on outdoorand indoorair quality.,
3. Use drapes, curtains, or shades to keep
direct sunlight from heating room, hut DO NOT
obstruct"theair conditioner, Allow air to circulate
around the unit withoutobstruction.
4. Start your air conditionerbefore outdoor air
becomes hot and uncomfortable. This avoids an
initial period of discomfort while unit is cooling
off the room.
5 When outdoor temperatures are cookenough,
use HIGH, MED, or LOW FAN only (depending
on your model). This circulates indoor air,
providing some cooling comfort, and utilizes
less electricity than when operating on a
coolingsetting..

Your unitis designed to evaporate condensation
under normal conditions. However, under
extreme humidity conditions, excess condensation
may cause basepan is ovediow to the outside.
The Unit should be installed where condensation
run-off cannot drip on pedestrians or neighboring
properties°
A drain lube connection (excluding hose) is provided
to redirectcondensation overflow° See Fig, 25°
Select the Best Location
A. This room air conditioner isdesigned to Fiteasily
in_oa single or doubie hung window.However,
since window designs vary, Itmay be necessary
to make some modifications for safe, proper
installation.
B_ Make sure window and frame are structurally
sound and free from dry and rotted wood.
C. For maximum efficiency, instaII the air conditioner
on a side of a house or building whtchfavors
more shade than sunlighL g the unit isin direct
sunlight; it is advisable to provide an awning over
the uniL
D. Provide sulfictent clearance around the cabinet to
affowfor ample air circulation throughthe unit.

E. Be certain the proper electrical ouFiet iswithin
reach of the Installation. Use only a single
oufiet circuit rated at 15 amps. NI wiringshould
be in accordance with local and national
electrical codes,
FoDO NOT USE "REGULAR" EXTENSION CORDS
WITH THIS UNIT. If itts necessary to use an
extension cord to connect your air conditioner,
use an approved "air conditioner" extension cord
only. (available at most focal hardware stores)
G. DO NOT instatlunit where leakage of combustible
gas is suspected. Your air conditionermay fail to
operate in air containing oi}s (including machine
oils), sulfide gas, near hot springs, etc...

1. Preparation to Remove the
Air Conditioner Slide-Out Chassis
• Positionthe air conc_tioner in the normal(upright)
position.
• Remove the air filter by grasping the fiiter handle
(on front grill) and sliding it to the right
•Remove the phillips screw (behind filter)securing
the grill frontto the chassis, (F_g,2)
°Remove the phillips screws located on the (lower ,z.
left/right) edge of front grill,.(Fig.,1)
Toremove the front gdll, grasp the {ewer front
corner of the grill,pulling (genlly) outward and
upward, (Fig3)
Repeat thts step on the 3 remaining cerners.
•Remove the two phillips screws (lower leWright --z-
side of cabinet)securingthe slide-out-chassis
to the cebineto (Flg.5)
NOTE:These screws must be reinstalled
upon completion of the window Installation.

• Grasp lhe pult handle at the frontof the
sl[de-out-chassls and carefully slide the air
conditioner out of the cabinet. (Flgo4)

2. Assembly of the Upper & Lower
Channels, to Cabinet.
"L" Shaped Top Channel; Installthe "L"
shaped channel tothe top ofthe cabinet as
shown in Fig. 8using four (4) 1/4" screws°
"U" Shaped Bottom Channel: install the "U"
shaped channel to the bottom of the cabinet as
shown in Fig, 8 using four (,1)I14" screws.
NOTE; Some models may already have the
bottom channel factory installed,
2a. Assembly of the Side Curtains to
Cabinet.
Slide the shutters inlo the lop end bottom
channels as shown in Fig. 9.The shutlers are
identified(on frame) as left& right. Attach the
shulters to the cab}netusing four 1/4" screws on
each s}de.
3. Installation of Mounting Brackets and
First Sealing Strip
SPECIAL NOTE: Window applications come tn
a variety of different styles, Therefore, It may
be necessary to modify or improvise your
particularfnstalfatlon,
3a, Assemble the leveeingscrew bracket to the
bracketassembty as shown in Rg,_0, using
four 1/4" screws provlded_ Inslal] the leveling
screws intoeach of the leveling screw
brackets.. (this will require the use of an
adjustable wrench)
3b_ Measure the inside window sill length and find
the center as shown In Fig. 11. From this ltne,
measure 8-118" on each side and mark these
points, Align the V-slot in each bracketon these
marks end mount tothe sillusing four 3/4"
screws provided. Brackets shoufd be
perpendicular to the inside window sill,wilh step
in bracket tight against the sill.. See Figs12.
3CoAdjust the leveling screws untilthe brackets lilt
no more than 3/16" downward tothe outside,
Do net atlowthe brackets to slant inwardas
condensation could possiblyddp on interior
walls and Iloors. See Fig. I2
3do Cut the 1st foam sealing strip to fit the
underside of the bottom window sash. Remove
the peel-off backing on the foam end attach it Io
the sash° See Fig. t3_

4. Instsl|ation of the Cabinet

4a, Place the air conditioner cabinet into the window
wiih the "U' shaped mounting channel (on top)
positionedin front of the upper w+ndowsash,
The "U" shaped channel on lhe bottom ofthe
cabinet should be positionedIn the "recessed"
portionofthe Irack located at the front ofthe
window bracket assemblies, Pull the window
down untli It restsjust behind the front flange of
the (top)"L" shaped mounting channel. See
Fig_14+
4b. Align one hole in the bottom of the cabinet
withone hole inthe bracket assembly.
Secure 1hecabinet tothe bracket using a
t/4" screw provided. Repeat the same
procedure on theopposite side of the
cabinet. See Fig. 15
4c. Check to make sure that the cabinet is slanted
slightlydownward on the outside, If necessary,
re.adjust the levelling screws _nthe support
brackets.
4d+ Cut the first foam sealing strip to lit the
underside of lhs bottom window sash. Remove
the peel-off backing on the foam and atlach itto
the sash° See Fig, 13.

5. Completing the Installation for All Models
• Carefully slide the alrcondiltoner back into
the cabinet, (in window)
(ptease seek assislance for this procedure)
Reinstall (slide-out-chassis) secudly screws
removed earlier on the (lower left/right)side of
the cabinet. Figo7
•Expand the shutter frames (fully) on each side
and secure the top of the frames to the window
aash using one 314" screw & flat washer on
each side. Fig_23
• Instalf shutter clamp on each side of the (lower)
shutter and secure lo window sillusing one
3/4" screw & flat washer on each side. Fig.23

Reinstalling Front Panel Grilh
Posit_orithe front panel assembly on the
cabinet start(ng at the top.The front panel lock
tabs must be Inserted into the retaining slots in
the cabinet,
Repeat thTsprocedure on all sides, making sure
the fresh air vent_ation lever arm and power
cord are properly installed back to their orTginal
poeition_
Secure the front grill to the cabinet using th_
phillips screws removed earlier. Fig'sol & 2
Install the air filter.
Out the second loam seal to fit the opening
between _hetop of the inside and oulstde
window. (Ffg, 24.,)
Some installationsmay require additional
sealing around lhe window and alr conditioner.
Check for any air leaks and seal where
necessary.
Under very humid conditions,water removal
may be excessive enough to overflowfrom the
rear of the unit or increase noise levels of the
air conditioner., If this occurs, consider atlaching
a standard drain (garden) hose (not
fnciuded) tothe drainplug at the rear of the
unit,allowing condensatfontorun off
conveniently.(Fig, 25.)

SELECTOR Switch Function
The selector switchcontrols fan speed and!or
coo_ng speed, Toset desired cooling
temperature, simply rotate the SELECTOR
knob to the appropriate setting.
LOW FAN wiIIo_rculateair at minimumspeed
without cooling.
MED FAN wii! circulate air at medium speed
withoutcooling,
HIGH FAN wifl circulate air at maximum speed
without cooling.
LOW COOL provides cooling wtlh minimum atr
circulation. Recommended for night-time use,
MED COOL provides coolingwith intermediate
alr circulation. Recommended for average
summer-Ume cooling. Once room Is tooted,
reduce setting to LOW COOL.
HiGH COOL provides cooling with maximum
air circulaltom Recommended forquick cooling
or Ior extremely hot days, Once room is
cooled, reduce setting to LOW COOL.
NOTE: Always allow 3 minutes before
swilohing from one mode toanother.
OFF shuts-down the trnlt completely
THERMOSTAT
The lhermostat automatically controls the
(compressor) cooling cycle and maintains the
selected room temperature.To sol the
thermostat, rotate the thermoslat knob to the
desired cooling setting (1 warmest ,-,9coldest)_
The fan motor will continue tooperate after the
compressor (coo]{ng) has cycled off.This is
normal

stewiy allowing unit to adjusL
When using THERMOSTAT, be sure to allow three
minutes before changing temperature. Adjusting
too quickly may cause an overload resulting in a
blownfuse.
Fresh Air Ventilation Isusually kept in the closed
position. Use only when clearingsmoke and/or
odors from the room,

When servicing theair conditioner, be sure to
turn the SELECTOR knob to the "OFF" position
and disconnect the power cordfrom the
electrical outlet_
I_ DO NOT use gasoline, benzine, thinner or other
chemicals on the air conditioner as these
substances may cause damage to the paint finish
and deformation ofplastic paris.
2 Never attempt to pour water directly on unit as
this will cause deterioration of Ihe electrical

Air Filter Information
If the air filter becomes ctogged wilh dust, air Itow
is obstructed and reduces efficiency. The air filter
should be cleaned every 2 weeks.
Air Filter Removal:
The air filter on the above model is
located behind the air Intake front grill.
To remove the air li}ler, grasp the tiller handle on
the front of the grill and sltde- it(out) to the right.
To reinstall the atr _ter, reverse
the above proceduresoThe alr filter
may be vacuumed orwashed by-hand
in warm waler_Dry thoroughly
before installing°
DO NOT forget to install the airfiller, if the air
conditioner is left to operate without the air filter,
dust is not removed from the room air and may
result in roach[no failure°
When the air inlet grilland cabinet are dirty_wipe
with lukewarm water (below 40°0)° Use of a mild
detergent ts recommended.
Cleaning Air Filter
1. Use a vacuum cleaner with soft brush
attachment.
2. Wash the filter in lukewarm water below 40°C
€I04°F): To get better results, wash with soapy
water or a neutral cleaning agent.
3_ Rinse the filter with clean water and
dry thoroughly before re-installing.
End-of-Season Care
1. Operate the fan alone for half a day to dry out the
Insideof the unit.
2. Turn elf power and remove ptug from wall aocket°
3. Clean filter.
4o Store (covered) air conditioner in a dry location.
