CONTROLS
OUTPUT LED (S5N-…A00/B01/C01/C10/F00)
The yellow LED ON indicates that the NOoutputstatus is closed.
POWER ON LED (S5N-…G00)
The green LED indicates that thesensor is operating.
TRIMMER (S5N-…B01/C01)
The trimmer can be usedto adjust sensitivity; theoperating distanceincreases
turning the trimmer clockwise.
WARNING: The trimmer rotation is limitedto 270°.
Do not apply excessive torque beyondthe maximum and minimum pos iti ons
(max 40 Nmm).
INSTALLATION
The sensor can be fixed by means of the M18x1threaded body through
a 18mm hole, using the specific washer and the two CH.24 nuts
(1.5Nm maximum tightening torque) or CH.22 nuts, h=8mm, (2Nm
maximum tightening torque) enclosed. Alternatively, the sensor canbe
mounted through the two housing’s holes using two screws (M3x22 or
longer) andwasher.
Amongst the various possible solutions, we suggest to choose the
combination that offers the best visibility of the signalling LEDs andthe
easiest access to thetrimmer.
Various orientable fixing brackets are
available to ease the sensor positioning
(please refer to the accessories listed in the
general catalogue). Theoperating distanceis
measured from thefront surface of the sensor
lens.
C models: To improve the detection, the
object has to bemovedcloser or further away
from the front surface of the sensor lens.
In case of lateral translation, the object must move as indicated in the
figure.
CONNECTIONS
The connections are compliant tothe EN 60947-5-2 standard.

SETTING
Setting of S5N-…A00/B01
Positionthesensor andreflector on opposite sides.
Moving the sensor both vertically andhorizontally, determine thepower
on and off points of theyellow LED (OUT) and then mount the sensor in
the middle of the points defined.
B01 Model: Turn the sensitivity trimmer to themaximum position.
If necessary reduce sensitivity in order to detect very small targets.In
order to improve alignment, repeat theproceduredetailed above whilst
progressively reducingthe sensitivity.
Setting of S5N-…F00/G00
Positionthesensors on oppositesides.
Move the sensor bothvertically and horizontally, determine the power on
and off points of theyellow LED (OUT) and then mount the sensor in the
middle of the defined points.
Setting of S5N-…C01
Turn the sensitivity trimmer to minimum: the yellow
LED is OFF.
Position thetarget todetect in front of the sensor.
Turn the sensitivity trimmer clockwise until theyellow
LED turns ON (Target detected state, pos.A).
Removethetarget, theyellow LED turns OFF.
Turn the sensitivity trimmer clockwise until the yellow LED turns ON
(Backgrounddetectedstate, pos.B).
The trimmer reaches the maximum level if the background is not
detected.
Turn the trimmer to the intermediateC position,betweenthe two A and
Bpositions.
Setting of S5N-…C10
The operating distance range of these sensors is factory preset: please
consider this feature whenpositioning.
TEST FUNCTION (S5N-…G00)
The TEST+ and TEST- inputs can be used to inhibit the emitter and
verify thatthesystem is correctly operating.
The receiver output should switch when the test is activated while the
beam is uninterrupted. The inputs activating voltage range is 10 … 30
Vdc, whilst respecting the polarity.
Theemission is switchedoff connecting TEST+ toVdc andTEST-to0V.

Die gelbe LED signalisiert, Ausgang NO ist geschlossen.
LED - POWER ON (S5N-…G00)
Die grüne LED signalisiert Betriebsbereitschaft.
TRIMMER (S5N-…B01/C01)
Mit dem Trimmer kann die Empfindlichkeit eingestellt werden. Drehung im
Uhrzeigersinn vergrößert die Reich- bzw. Tastweite.
ACHTUNG:
Der Drehwinkel des Trimmers ist mechanisch auf 270° begrenzt.
Wenden Sie keine extremeKraft bei der Einstellungan (Drehmoment max. 40
Nmm).
INSTALLATION
Der Sensor ermöglicht aufgrund seiner M18x1 Gewindebauform und
unter Verwendung von zwei mitgelieferten Muttern (SW 24mm/max.
Drehmoment 1.5 Nm) oder SW22mm/h=8mm (max. Drehm. 2 Nm) und
sowie einer speziellen Druckscheibe, die Montagedurcheineeinfache
Bohrung mit Ø 18mm.
Zudem kann der Sensor auchmit zwei Schrauben (M3x22oder länger)
und Unterlegscheibenmittels Gehäusebohrungenbefestigt werden.
Wählen Sie stets eine Befestigungsmöglichkeit, mit der beste Einsicht
und einfachster Zugriff von Anzeige- undBedienelemente gewährleistet
ist. Sensorzubehör. Eine Vielzahl von Befestigungswinkelnvereinfacht
die Ausrichtung des Sensors (siehe Kapitel
Zubehör im Katalog).
Die Reich- bzw. Tastweitewird ab Optikfläche
des Sensors gemessen.
C Modelle: Die Erfassung eines Objektes wird
verbessert, wenn die Entfernung von Objekt
zur Optikfläche vergrößert oder verringert wird
und die Bewegungsrichtung des Objektes
gem. nebenstehender Abbildung beachtet
wird.

Wird der Hintergrund nicht detektiert, erreicht der Trimmer sein Maximum.

Die Tastweite dieser Sensoren ist werkseitig vorgegeben und ist bei der
Montageentsprechendzuberücksichtigen.
TEST-FUNKTION (S5N-…G00)
Die Testeingänge TEST+ und - unterbrechen die Sendeimpulse des
Senders und ermöglichendadurcheineSystemüberprüfung.
Der Ausgang am Empfänger muss bei jeder Aktivierung dieses Tests bei

ATTENTION: La rotationdupotentiomètre est limitée à270° par un arrêt
mécanique. Ne pas appliquer une torsion excessive lors de l’ajustement.

INSTALLATION
L'installation du capteur peut être effectuée grâceaufiletage M18x1du
corps sur un trou debouchant (18mm) à l'aide de la rondelle
appropriée et des deux écrous CH.24 (couple maximum de serrage
1.5Nm) ou des écrous CH.22, h=8mm, (couple maxi de serrage 2Nm).
fournis ou bien, grâce aux deux trous traversants du corps, aumoyen
de deux vis (M3x22ou d'une longueur supérieure) dotées des rondelles
de serrage. Parmi les différentes combinaisons possibles choisir celle
qui offre la meilleure visibilité des LED de signalisation et l'accès au
trimmer. Des que de nombreuses équerres orientables, en vue de
faciliter le positionnement du capteur (voir accessoires aucatalogue).
La distance opérationnelle est mesurée à
partir de la surface frontale de la lentille du
capteur. Modèles C: En vue d'une meilleure
détection, l'objet doit se déplacer, en
s'approchant ou en s'éloignant de la surface
des lentilles.
En cas de translation latérale, l'objet doit se
déplacer suivant l'indication reportée sur la
figure. CONNEXIONS
Les connexions sont configurées en conformité avec la norme EN

Réglage S5N-…A00/B01
Placer le capteur etle réflecteur sur des côtés opposés.
En déplaçant le capteur dans la direction verticale et horizontale,
déterminer les points d'allumage et d'extinctiondela LED jaune(OUT),
fixer lecapteur aucentre entreles points relevés.
Modèles B01: Régler le trimmer de la sensibilitéaumaximum.
Le cas échéant, réduire lasensibilitépour repérer des objets très petits.
En vue d'améliorer l'alignement, refaire laprocédure décriteci-dessus,
en réduisant progressivement la sensibilité.
Réglage S5N-…F00/G00
Placer les capteurs sur des côtés opposés.
En déplaçant le capteur dans la direction verticale et horizontale,
déterminer les points d'allumage et d'extinctiondela LED jaune(OUT),
fixer lecapteur aucentre entreles points relevés.
Réglage S5N-…C01
Régler letrimmer dela sensibilitéau minimum: la LED
jaune est éteinte.
Mettre en face du capteur l'objet qui doit être détecté.
Tourner le trimmer de la sensibilité dans lesens des
aiguilles d'une montre jusqu'à l’allumage de la LED jaune (Condition
d'objet détecté, pos. A).Retirer l'objet, la LED jaune s'éteint..
Tourner le trimmer dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre jusqu'à
allumer laLED jaune (Condition de fond détecté, pos. B).
Le trimmer atteint le maximum, sile fond n'est pas détecté.
Régler le trimmer dans la positionintermédiaire, pos. C, entre les deux
positions: pos. A et pos. B.
Réglage S5N-…C10
Ces capteurs ont une distance opérationnelle préétablie: en tenir compte
au cours dupositionnement.
FONCTION TEST (S5N-…G00)
Les entrées TEST+ et TEST- peuventêtreutilisées envue dedésactiver
l'émetteur et de vérifier le bonfonctionnement du système.
En activant le test lorsqu'il n'y a pas d'objets interposés, la sortie du
récepteur doit commuter. La tension à appliquer aux entrées est
comprise dans le champ 10 … 30 Vcc, en respectant les polarités.
L’émission est éteinte avec TEST+ connectéà Vcc eTest –connecté à
0V.

Il LED giallo acceso indica lo stato dell’uscita N.A. chiuso.
LED POWER ON (S5N-…G00)
Il LED verde indica che il sensore è in funzione.
TRIMMER (S5N-…B01/C01)
Il trimmer permette di regolare la sensibilità; la distanza operativa aumenta
ruotando il trimmer insenso orario.
ATTENZIONE: La rotazione massimadel trimmer è limitata a 270°.
Non forzare oltre le posizioni massimae minima, inparticolare non esercitare
una coppia maggiore di40 Nmm.
INSTALLAZIONE
L’installazione del sensore può essere effettuata grazie alla filettatura M18x1
del corpo su foro passante (18mm) utilizzando l’apposita rondella ed i d ue
dadi CH.24 (coppia max. di serraggio1.5Nm) o CH.22, h=8mm, (coppiamax.
di serraggio 2Nm) in dotazione oppure, grazieai due foripassantidel c orpo,
tramite due viti (M3x22o di maggiore lunghezza)con rondelle di serraggio.
Tra le varie combinazioni possibili scegliere quella che offre la maggiore
visibilità dei LED di segnalazione e l’accesso al trimmer.
Sono disponibili numerose staffeorientabili per facilitare il posizionamento del
sensore (vedi accessori a catalogo).
La distanza operativa è misurata a partire dalla
superficie frontale della lentedel sensore. Modelli
C: Per una migliore rilevazione, l’oggetto deve
muoversi in avvicinamento od allontanamento
dalla superficie delle lenti.

Regolazione S5N-…A00/B01
Posizionareil sensore edil riflettoresulati opposti.
Muovendo il sensore in direzione verticale e orizzontale, determinare i
punti di accensione e spegnimento del LED giallo (OUT), fissare il
sensoreal centro trai punti rilevati.
ModelloB01: Regolare il trimmerdella sensibilitàal massimo.
Se necessario, ridurre la sensibilitàper individuare oggetti moltopiccoli.
Per migliorare l’allineamento, ripetere la procedura sopra descritta
riducendoprogressivamente la sensibilità.

FUNZIONE TEST (S5N-…G00)
Gli ingressi TEST+ e TEST- possono essere usati per disattivare
l’emettitore e verificare il corretto funzionamento del sistema.
Attivando il test quando non vi sono oggetti interposti l’uscita del
ricevitore deve commutare. La tensione da applicare agli ingressi è
compresa nel campo 10 … 30 Vcc, rispettando le polarità.
L’emissione è spenta con TEST+ connesso a Vcc e TEST- connesso a0
V.

WARRANTY
Datalogic warrants that the Products shall be free from defects in materials
and workmanship under normal and proper use during the Warranty
Period. Products are sold on the basis of specications applicable at the
time of manufacture and Datalogic has no obligation to modify or update
Products once sold. The Warranty Period shall be three years from the
date of shipment by Datalogic, unless otherwise agreed in an applicable
writing by Datalogic.
Datalogic will not be liable under the warranty if the Product has been
exposed or subjected to any: (1) maintenance, repair, installation,
handling, packaging, transportation, storage, operation or use that is
improper or otherwise not in compliance with Datalogic’s instruction; (2)
Product alteration, modication or repair by anyone other than Datalogic
or those specically authorized by Datalogic; (3) accident, contamination,
foreign object damage, abuse, neglect or negligence after shipment to
Buyer; (4) damage caused by failure of a Datalogic-supplied product not
under warranty or by any hardware or software not supplied by Datalogic;
(5)any device on which the warranty void seal has been altered, tampered
with, or is missing; (6) any defect or damage caused by natural or man-
made disaster such as but not limited to re, water damage, oods,
other natural disasters, vandalism or abusive events that would cause
internal and external component damage or destruction of the whole unit,
consumable items; (7) use of counterfeit or replacement parts that are
neither manufactured nor approved by Datalogic for use in Datalogic-
manufactured Products; (8) any damage or malfunctioning caused by
non-restoring action as for example rmware or software upgrades,
software or hardware recongurations etc.; (9) loss of data; (10) any
consumable or equivalent (e.g. cables, power supply, batteries, etc.); or
(11) any device on which the serial number is missing or not recognizable.
THE DATALOGIC WARRANTIES ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL
OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER WRITTEN, EXPRESS, IMPLIED,
STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO,
THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS
FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE. DATALOGIC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE
FOR ANY DAMAGES SUSTAINED BY BUYER ARISING FROM DELAYS
IN THE REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR OF PRODUCTS UNDER THE
ABOVE. THE REMEDY SET FORTH IN THE WARRANTY STATEMENT
IS THE BUYER’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR WARRANTY
CLAIMS. NO EXTENSION OF THIS WARRANTY WILL BE BINDING
UPON DATALOGIC UNLESS SET FORTH IN WRITING AND SIGNED
BY DATALOGIC’S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE. DATALOGIC’S
LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES ON ACCOUNT OF A CLAIMED DEFECT
IN ANY PRODUCT DELIVERED BY DATALOGIC SHALL IN NO
EVENT EXCEED THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE PRODUCT ON
WHICH THE CLAIM IS BASED. DATALOGIC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE
FOR DAMAGES RELATING TO ANY INSTRUMENT, EQUIPMENT,
OR APPARATUS WITH WHICH THE PRODUCT SOLD UNDER THIS

Datalogic hergestellten Produkten zugelassen sind; (8) alle Schäden
oder Fehlfunktionen, die durch die Unterlassung von Resetmaßnahmen
wie z.B. Firmware- oder Softwareaktualisierungen, Neukongurationen
der Software oder Hardware, usw. verursacht wurden; (9) Datenverlust;
(10) jegliches Verbrauchsmaterial oder ähnliches Material (z.B. Kabel,
Stromversorgung, Batterien, usw.); oder (11) alle Geräte, an denen die
Seriennummer fehlt oder unleserlich ist.
DIE GARANTIEN VON DATALOGIC SIND VON AUSSCHLIESSENDER
ART UND ERSETZEN ALLE ANDEREN SCHRIFTLICHEN,
AUSDRÜCKLICHEN, STILLSCHWEIGENDEN, GESETZLICHEN ODER
GARANTIE
Datalogic garantit que les Produits seront exempts de défauts de
matériaux et de fabrication dans le cadre d’une utilisation normale et
appropriée pendant la Période de garantie. Les Produits sont vendus
conformément aux spécications applicables au moment de la fabrication
et Datalogic n’a aucune obligation de modication ou de mise à jour des
Produits après leur vente. La Période de garantie durera trois ans à
compter de la date d’expédition par Datalogic, sauf accord contraire écrit
de Datalogic.
Datalogic ne sera pas responsable sous garantie si le Produit a été
exposé ou soumis à l’une des conditions ci-dessous : (1) maintenance,
réparation, installation, manutention, emballage, transport, stockage,
fonctionnement ou utilisation inappropriée ou de toute façon non
conforme aux instructions de Datalogic ; (2) altération, modication ou
réparation du Produit par toute personne autre que Datalogic ou celles
spéciquement autorisées par Datalogic ; (3) accident, contamination,
dommage causé par un corps étranger, abus, insouciance ou négligence
après l’expédition à l’Acheteur ; (4) dommage causé par la défaillance
d’un produit fourni par Datalogic n’étant pas couvert par la garantie ou
de tout matériel ou logiciel n’étant pas fourni par Datalogic ; (5) tout
dispositif dans lequel le sceau de garantie a été altéré, forcé ou n’est
pas présent ; (6) tout défaut ou dommage causé par des catastrophes
naturelles ou d’origine humaine, telles que sans pourtant s’y limiter, un
incendie, un dégât des eaux, une inondation, d’autres catastrophes
naturelles, le vandalisme ou des actes illicites pouvant causer des
dommages internes et externes aux composants ou la destruction
de l’ensemble de l’unité, des consommables ; (7) utilisation de pièces
contrefaites ou détachées qui ne sont ni fabriquées ni approuvées par
Datalogic pour être employées dans les Produits fabriqués par Datalogic
; (8) tout dommage ou dysfonctionnement causé par des actions de non-
restauration, telles que les mises à jour de micrologiciels ou de logiciels,
des recongurations de logiciels ou de matériel, etc. (9) perte de données
; (10) tout consommable ou équivalent (par exemple, des câbles, les
alimentations électriques, les batteries, etc.) ; ou (11) tout dispositif sur
lequel le numéro de série est manquant ou non reconnaissable.

TOUTES LES AUTRES GARANTIES, QU’ELLES SOIENT ÉCRITES,
EXPRESSES, IMPLICITES, LÉGALES OU AUTRES, Y COMPRIS,
SANS LIMITATION, LES GARANTIES IMPLICITES DE QUALITÉ
MARCHANDE ET D’ADÉQUATION À UN USAGE PARTICULIER.
DATALOGIC NE SERA PAS RESPONSABLE DES DOMMAGES SUBIS
PAR L’ACHETEUR DU FAIT D’UN RETARD DANS LE REMPLACEMENT
OU LA RÉPARATION DES PRODUITS CONFORMÉMENT À CE QUI
PRÉCÈDE. LE REMÈDE INDIQUÉ DANS LA DÉCLARATION DE

Datalogic 保证，在质保期内，在正常和正确使用的情

件升级，软件或硬件重新配置等）引起的任何损坏或故
障；(9) 数据丢失；(10) 任何消耗品或等效物（例如
电缆、电源、电池等）；或 (11) 序列号丢失或无法识
别的任何设备。
DATALOGIC 质保具有排他性，并代替所有其他书面、明
示、暗示、法定或其他形式的质保，包括但不限于针对
特定目的的适销性和适用性的暗示质保。DATALOGIC 不
对由买方导致的上述产品更换或维修延误所遭受的任何

prodotti né approvati da Datalogic per l’uso nei Prodotti fabbricati da
Datalogic; (8) qualsiasi danno o malfunzionamento causato da azioni
di non ripristino, come ad esempio aggiornamenti del rmware o del
software, ricongurazioni del software o dell’hardware, ecc. (9) perdita di
dati; (10) qualsiasi materiale di consumo o equivalente (ad esempio cavi,
alimentazione, batterie, ecc.); o (11) qualsiasi dispositivo su cui manchi o
non sia riconoscibile il numero di serie.

EN CE Compliance
CE marking states the compliance of the product with essential requirements listed in the applicable European directive. Since the directives and applicable standards are subject to continuous updates, and since the manufacturer promptly adopts these updates,
therefore the EU declaration of conformity is a living document. The EU declaration of conformity is available for competent authorities and customers through the manufacturer’s commercial reference contacts. Since April 20th, 2016 the main European directives
applicable to the products require inclusion of an adequate analysis and assessment of the risk(s). This evaluation was carried out in relation to the applicable points of the standards listed in the Declaration of Conformity. These products are mainly designed for
integration purposes into more complex systems. For this reason, it is under the responsibility of the system integrator to do a new risk assessment regarding the nal installation.
