Veiligheidsinstructies
1. Alle veiligheidsinstructies, waarschuwingen en gebruiksaanwijzingen moeten als eerste gelezen
worden.
2. Alle op het apparaat aanwezige waarschuwingen dienen opgevolgd te worden.
3. De gebruiksaanwijzing dient opgevolgd te worden.
4. Bewaar de gebruiksaanwijzing voor toekomstig gebruik.
5. Het apparaat mag nooit in de onmiddellijke nabijheid van water worden gebruikt; voorkom de
mogelijkheid van binnentreden van water en vocht.
6. Het apparaat mag alleen geplaatst of gemonteerd worden op de door de fabrikant aanbevolen
wijze.
7. Het apparaat moet zo geplaatst of gemonteerd worden, dat niets een goede ventilatie in de
weg staat.
8. Het apparaat mag nooit in de onmiddellijke nabijheid van warmtebronnen zoals
verwarmingsinstallatie delen, kachels, en andere warmte producerende apparatuur (onder
andere versterkers) worden geplaatst.
9. Sluit het apparaat alleen aan op de juiste netspanning door middel van de door de fabrikant
aanbevolen kabels, zoals beschreven in de gebruiksaanwijzing en/of vermeld op de
aansluitzijde van het apparaat.
10.Het apparaat mag alleen worden aangesloten op een wettelijk goedgekeurde (rand)geaarde
netspanningsaansluiting.
11.De netspanningskabel of het netspanningssnoer dient zo gelegd, dat er redelijkerwijs niet
overheen gelopen kan worden of geen voorwerpen op of tegenaan geplaatst kunnen worden
welke de kabel kunnen beschadigen. Speciaal moet rekening gehouden worden met het punt
waar de kabel vast zit aan het apparaat en waar de kabel vastzit aan de
netspanningsaansluiting.
12.Voorkom dat vreemde voorwerpen en vloeistoffen in het apparaat kunnen binnendringen.
13.Het apparaat dient op de door de fabrikant aanbevolen wijze gereinigd te worden.
14.De netspanningskabel of het netspanningssnoer dient, indien voor langere tijd het apparaat
niet gebruikt wordt, uit de netspanningsaansluiting gehaald te worden.
15.In alle gevallen, wanneer er na een gebeurtenis gevaar ontstaat voor onveilige werking van het
apparaat, zoals:
na het beschadigd raken van de netspanningskabel of het netspanningssnoer
na het binnendringen in het apparaat van vreemde voorwerpen of vloeistoffen (onder andere
water)
na een val van het apparaat of een beschadiging van de behuizing
na het opmerken van een verandering in de werking van het apparaat moet het
gecontroleerd worden door daarvoor bevoegd technisch personeel.
16.De gebruiker moet geen werkzaamheden aan het apparaat uitvoeren anders dan die in de
gebruiksaanwijzing staan omschreven.

Inleiding
De SPL5-D2 unit is een geluidsdrukmeter die gekoppeld kan worden aan de SPL5. Het apparaat
kan ook als losse geluidsdrukmeter gebruikt worden.
Het apparaat bestaat uit een groot LED display waarop de actuele geluidsdruk kan worden
afgelezen. De LED-balk kan als VU-meter, of als reductie meter worden gebruikt.
Met behulp van de bijgeleverde PC-software kunnen enkele instellingen worden aangepast.
Meer informatie over het gebruik van de PC-software is te vinden in de handleiding van de SPL5.
Het server-programma zal automatisch het aangesloten apparaat herkennen. Zodra het
configuratie-programma verbinding met de server maakt zal het menu voor het display actief
worden.

Display gekoppeld aan de SPL5
Als het apparaat is gekoppeld aan de SPL5 zullen de door de microfoon gemeten waardes
automatisch uit de SPL worden opgehaald en weergegeven in het grote display.
De onderste balk kan met behulp van de PC-software worden ingesteld als VU-meter of als
reductie meter.
Wanneer de balk als reductiemeter wordt gebruikt kan het aantal dB's verzwakking worden
uitgelezen. De kleine cijfers onder de balk geven aan hoeveel dB het geluid wordt verzwakt.
Wanneer de geluidsdruk de vooraf ingestelde waarde overschrijdt zullen de grote LED-cijfers voor
enige tijd rood oplichten. Een kortstondige hoge piekwaarde (groter dan de vooraf ingestelde
waarde) zal de tekst 'dBA' enkele malen laten knipperen.
Aansluiten op de SPL5
Het display wordt door middel van de jack connector verbonden aan de SPL5. Gebruik hiervoor
bijvoorbeeld een microfoonkabel. Sluit de afscherming aan op de aarde van de jack connector. De
signaalader moet met de tip van de jack worden verbonden.
Aan de SPL5 zijde wordt de signaalader verbonden met pen 8 van de DB-25 connector en de
afscherming aan pen 14.
Display als losstaand apparaat
Het display kan ook zonder de SPL5 worden gebruikt. Hiervoor moet de meetmicrofoon worden
aangesloten. De gemeten waardes zullen op het display verschijnen.
Met behulp van de software kan de geluidsdruk worden
ingesteld waarna de LED's rood moeten oplichten
(microfoon threshold). Dit kan als waarschuwing voor
de live-band of disk-jockey dienen.
Er kunnen drie meetcurves worden geselecteerd:
CANSI-A
CANSI-B
CANSI-C
Tevens is het mogelijk om de gemeten waardes te
corrigeren aan de geijkte meter. Met behulp van de
schuifbalk onder de threshold waarde kan de microfoon
gecalibreerd worden. Als de balk naar links wordt
geschoven zal de microfoon minder gevoelig worden.
Door de schuifbalk naar rechts te schuiven zal de
gevoeligheid toenemen.
Algemene instellingen
Het display kan automatisch de lichtsterkte aanpassen aan de lichtsterkte van de omgeving. In
een donkere omgeving zal de intensiteit van het display afnemen. Deze functie kan worden
ingeschakeld door 'display dimmen' in te schakelen.
De intensiteit van de verschillende segmenten kan worden aangepast door middel van de
onderste keuze-boxen.

Safety instructions
1. All safety instructions, warnings and operating instructions must be read first.
2. All warnings on the equipment must be heeded.
3. The operating instructions must be followed.
4. Keep the operating instructions for future reference.
5. The equipment may never be used in the immediate vicinity of water; make sure that water and
damp cannot get into the equipment.
6. The equipment may only be installed or fitted in accordance with the manufacturers
recommendations.
7. The equipment must be installed or fitted such that good ventilation is not obstructed in any way.
8. The equipment may never be installed in the immediate vicinity of sources of heat, such as parts
of heating units, boilers, and other equipment that generates heat (including amplifiers).
9. Connect the equipment to a power supply of the correct voltage, using only the cables
recommended by the manufacturer, as specified in the operating instructions and/or shown on
the connection side of the equipment.
10.The equipment may only be connected to a legally approved earthed mains power supply.
11.The power cable or power cord must be positioned such that it cannot be walked on in normal
use, and objects that might damage the cable or cord cannot be placed on it or against it. Special
attention must be paid to the point at which the cable is attached to the equipment and where the
cable is connected to the power supply.
12.Ensure that foreign objects and liquids cannot get into the equipment.
13.The equipment must be cleaned using the method recommended by the manufacturer.
14.If the equipment is not being used for a prolonged period, the power cable or power cord should
be disconnected from the power supply.
15.In all cases where there is a risk, following an incident, that the equipment could be unsafe, such
as:
if the power cable or power cord has been damaged
if foreign objects or liquids (including water) have entered the equipment
if the equipment has suffered a fall or the casing has been damaged
if a change in the performance of the equipment is noticed
Appropriately qualified technical staff must check it.
16.The user may not carry out any work on the equipment other than that specified in the operating
instructions.

Introduction
The SPL-D2 unit is a separate sound-level meter. Besides it can be linked to the SPL5 limiter.
The unit is a large LED display, showing the actual sound-pressure level. The LED-bar at the
bottom can be configured as a VU-meter, or a reduction meter (when linked to the SPL5).
By means of the PC software it is possible to change some settings. More information about
installing and using the SPL software can be found in the SPL5 manual.
As soon as the connection to the display unit is made the 'Display' menu will become active.

Display connected to the SPL5
When the display is linked to the SPL5 the microphone values will be downloaded from the SPL5
automatically. Those values will be showed in the large display.
The LED-bar can become a VU-meter, or a reduction meter. When using the bar as a reduction
meter the small digits underneath it indicate the amount of attenuation.
As soon as the sound-level exceeds the threshold the LED's will light up red for some time. When
a small audio peak exceeds the threshold the tekst 'dBA' will start blinking.
Connecting to the SPL5
The display unit is connected to the SPL with the jack connector. A standard microphone cable
can be used. Connect the shield to the jacks' ground pin and the signal wires to the tip. At the
SPL5 the shielding can be connected to pin 14, and the signal wire to pin 8 of the DB-25
connector.
Using the display stand-alone
To use the display as a stand-alone device the microphone has to be connected. The audio-level
will be showed in the large LED display.
By means of the PC-software the threshold can be
adjusted. When the audio-level exceeds this level the
LED's will become red. This can be used as a warning
for the live-band, or the disk-jockey.
The display units hold three correction-curves:
CANSI-A
CANSI-B
CANSI-C
The measured values can be adjusted to match a
verified meter. By moving the slider to the right the
microphone becomes less sensitive. Moving the slider
to the right gives a higher level.
Common settings
The display can be dimmed automatically in a dark environment. This function can be enabled by
selecting 'display dimming'.
The intensity of the various elements can be adjusted with the boxes at the bottom of the window.

GARANTEE CONDITIONS: DATEQ guarantees this product to be free of defects in materials and workmanship at the time of its original purchase for the period of 12 months. If during this period of guarantee the product proves defective due to improper materials or workmanship, DATEQ will repair or this product or its defective parts on the condetions explained hereafter. 1. The guarantee will be granted only if the correctly filled out guarantee card is presented together with the original invoice/cash ticket issued to the consumer by the retailer. DATEQ reserves the right to refuse guarantee service if this information or the products serial number has been removed or changed after the original purchase of the product. 2.
