ThankyouforpurchasingtheDMON‐16S16Channel(3G/HD/SD)‐SDIMulti‐viewerwithHDMIandSDI
Outputs.
TheDMON‐16Sisatrulyportableconverter,whichincorporatesourneweasytouseLCDandbutton
controlsystem.Thisgivesyoueasyaccesstoalloftheamazingfeaturesthathavebeenunavailable
withoutacomputeruntilnow.Thedaysofhavingtoplaywithcomplicateddipswitchesorhavingto
carryaroundacomputertochangeasimplesettingaregone.
TheDMON‐16Sfeaturesthefollowing:
•Low cost miniature (3G/HD/SD)-SDI 16 to 1 Multi-viewer or 16 to 1 input multiplexer
•Various multi-viewer layouts
•Selectable output format in Multi-viewer mode
•Low latency buffering for each input allowing non-synchronous inputs
•Linked (3G/HD/SD)-SDI and HDMI outputs
•16 x (3G/HD/SD)-SDI inputs with auto detection (26 Formats supported in total)
•Each quadrant is independent of the others, allowing any 3G/HD/SD format of any frame rate to
be displayed simultaneously
•Variable aspect ratios per quadrant
•Pass-Through mode allowing any of the 16 inputs to be selected for output
•In Pass-Through mode the selected input is passed through to both the (3G/HD/SD)-SDI and
HDMI outputs
•This unit also includes:

WelcometotheUSBcontrolpanelmanual,thismanualiswrittentohelpuserslearnaboutallthe
importantfeaturesavailabletothemwhenusingtheUSBcontrolpanel.
WhenfirstusingtheUSBcontrolpaneltheuserispresentedwith4mainitems,theseare:
Availabledevices,thisshowstheuserthenumberofDecimatorDesigndevicescurrentlypluggedinand
detectedbythecomputer.Thesedevicescanbeofvaryingmodelsandserials.
Scan,theScanbuttonisusedwheneveraDecimatorDesigndeviceisconnectedtothecomputer.The
usermustpressthisbuttontodoascanofthecurrentlyconnecteddecimatordesigndevices.
Whenadeviceisdetecteditsmodelnumberandserialnumberaredisplayedinthedropdownboxnext
tothisbutton.
LoadDefaults,thisbuttonallowstheusertoresetthedevicestothedefaultparametersdefinedinthe
program’smemory.
UpdateFirmware,thisbuttonallowstheusertoupdatethefirmwareofthedevicetothelatest
firmwarestoredintheUSBcontrolpanel.Pleasenotethatmultipledevicescanbeupdated
simultaneouslybygoingtooptionsandselectingupdatealldevices.
FileMenu
TheFileMenuallowstheusertosavethesettingsofthedevicecurrentlyselectedinthedropdownbox
itcanalsoprogramsettingsfromaprevioussavedsettingsfile.
LoadSettings,theloadsettingsoptionallowstheusertoloadapreviouslysavedsettingsfileforthe
currentlyselectedunit.
SaveSettings,thesavesettingsoptionallowstheusertosaveallthecurrentsettingsofthecurrently
selectedunitintoafilethatcanbeusedlaterorloadedontoanotherdevice.
LoadLayouts,theloadlayoutsoptionallowstheusertoloadapreviouslysavedlayoutsfileforthe
currentlyselectedunit.All2048layoutswillthenbewrittentotheDMON‐16Smemory.
SaveLayouts,thesavelayoutsoptionallowstheusertosaveallthelayoutsofthecurrentlyselected
unittoafilethatcanbeusedonotherDMON‐16Sorrecalledasabackup.Whensavingthelayoutsthe
unitwillreadallthelayoutsfromthecurrentlyselectedunitandsavethemintoalayoutfile.
OptionsMenu
UpdateAllDevices,thisoptionallowstheusertoupdateallcurrentlydetectedunitstothelatest
firmwareoftheUSBcontrolpanel.
ResetalldevicestoDefaults,thisoptionresetsallcurrentlydetecteddevicessettingstodefault.
Verifyafterprogram,thisoptionchecksthefirmwareafterprogrammingtoverifyitprogrammed
correctly.

TheLayoutstabisusedfordesigningcustomlayoutsforthevariousmulti‐viewersetupstheuserneeds.
Whencreatinganewlayouttheusermustselectthedesiredoutputresolutionthemulti‐viewerwillbe
displayingaswellasthenumberofwindowstobedisplayedonthescreen.Whenthesearechosenthe
userthenselectsthelayoutnumbertomodifyandbegincreatingtheirownuniquesetup.Notethatall
layoutsareuniquetothewindownumberandoutputresolution,forexamplewhenin1920x1080
modethereare32layoutsforeachwindownumber.ThismeanstheDMON‐16Shasatotalof2048
uniquelayouts
IntheWindowstabthereare6columnsshownforeachwindowthatisbeingdisplayedonthemulti‐
viewer.TheseareX,Y,Width,Height,BorderXandBorderY.
TheXandYcolumnsarethestartingpointofthetopleftcornerofeachwindowandbyusingtheslide
barorenteringanumberthewindowcanbemovedtothedesiredlocationonthemulti‐viewer.
TheWidthandHeightColumnsallowtheusertochangethesizeofeachofthewindowsfromthe
startingpointofthewindow,increasingordecreasingfromthetopleftcorner.
TheborderXandborderycolumnsallowtheusertosetaninternalborderofwheretheimagewillbe
placed.Theborderareawillthenbeusedwhentriggeringtalliesandwillfilltheborderareafromthe
outsideoftheimagetotheborderofitswindowwhenthetallyistriggered.

Read,thisbuttonwillreadfromtheDMON‐16Smemorytheparametersforthecurrentlayoutselected
andloadthesesettingsontothecurrentlayout.Thisbuttonisusefulwhenalteringalayoutortheuser
wishestoundothechangestheymadeaslongasthechangeshavenotbeenwrittenbacktothedevice.
Write,thisbuttonwillwritethecurrentlayoutsparametersintotheDMON‐16Smemory.Thewrite
functionisdisabledifanyofthewindowsfrom2to16overlapeachother.Thisisalsoindicatedbyared
borderaroundthewindowscausingoverlappingconflicts.
Default,thisbuttonwillchangethecurrentlayouttothedefaultparametersforthatlayoutnumber.
ThisdoesnotchangetheparameterssavedtotheDMON‐16S.Thisonlyaffectstheappearanceinthe
USBcontrolpanel.Torevertthelayouttoitsdefaultlookthewritebuttonmustbepressedafterthe
defaultbutton.
ResetAll,ThisbuttonwillloadthedefaultvaluesforalllayoutsandwritethemtotheDMON‐16S
memory,resettinganymodifiedlayouts.

Thisoptionallowstheusertosetagapbetweeneachwindow,themeasurementforgapsizeisinpixels
andthedefaultissetto2pixels.
4.1.5PreviewdisplayWindow
Ontherightofthetabisasmallwindowthatshowsapreviewofthecurrentlayoutofthemulti‐viewer
thattheuseriscreating.Thisdisplayupdateswitheachchange.
Eachwindowonthepreviewislabelled1to16(dependingonwindowselectionbox)andwillshowFL,
PBorLBnexttothenumberindicatingwhattheaspectdisplayissetto.FLwillfillthewindowwiththe
inputimage,PBwillshowtheimageasapillar‐boxinsidethewindowsandLBwillshowtheimageas
letterboxinsidethewindow.
4.1.6ShowBorderandShowAspect
Whentheshowbordercheckboxisselectedthepreviewwindowwillshowtheborderofeachwindow.
WhentheshowAspectcheckboxisselectedthepreviewwindowwilldisplayaboxthatindicateswhat
theimagewilllooklikeaccordingtotheaspectsettingsetforthatwindow.TheAspectsettingisfoundin
