Alarm ON (arm)
Use the original remote control unit to lock the vehicle. The Alarm Module is activated. The flashlights are
activated once confirming that the alarm is armed. The LED illuminates for 20 seconds and then starts to
flash, confirming that the alarm and the Glassbreake/Microwave Sensor are activated.
Temporary disconnection of sensors:
You can also turn on the alarm without activating the sensors that register motion in the
interior of the car, blows against the windows, etc. This may be necessary if, e.g. a dog is
left in the car. Turn the ignition ON and OFF within 2 seconds. Leave the car, and turn the
alarm on. The alarm lamp begins to flash straight away and the indicators will light longer
than normal (about 1 second). After alarmrejection and if the ignition has been on longer
than 2 seconds, the sensors will again be active the next time you turn the alarm on.

How to use your DEFA AutoSecurity Alarm Module
Your DEFA AutoSecurity Alarm Module is controlled using your car's original remote control unit. The Alarm
Module is activated when you use the original remote control unit to lock the car and deactivated when
the car is unlocked. Important: Using a key in the door cylinder to unlock the car will not deactivate the
alarm. There is no DEFA Remote Control for this Alarm Module.
Model versions
DEFA 400: Alarm without starter kill/Immobilizer.
DEFA 401: Alarm with 1 circuit starter kill.
DEFA 403: Alarm with 3 circuit immobilizer..
These models are available with either a Glassbreake Sensor, a Microwave Sensor or both. In addition, the
standard Siren can be replaced with a Backup Alarm consisting of a Siren with an integrated battery and a
Shock Sensor. A Motion Sensor for detection of tilt and towing of the car is also available as an option.
M = Microwave Sensor, G = Glassbreake Sensor, BA = Backup Alarm, MS = Motion Sensor

Emergency disarming
If the Remote Control is broken or lost, disarm the
Alarm Module as follows:
A. Consult your Card with the PIN Code and locate
your five-digit PIN Code.
B. Follow the instructions on the Emergency Code Card.
Important: If you make a mistake, you can repeat the
procedure from step 3 as often as required.
Keep your PIN Code Card always with you.
Do not leave it in the car!
Functional testing of the alarm system.
The Alarm Module must be controlled at regular bases to verify the function.
Procedure for function test:
- Turn the ignition on.
- Open one door at the time and check that the LED flashes rapidly.
- Open the hood and trunk and check that the LED flashes rapidly.
- Turn off the Ignition.
- Press button A and B on the DEFA Remote Control at the same time, keep them
pressed until the siren and flashlights are activated.
- Turn the Alarm Module ON (arm). Knock carefully on the front window of the car with a
coin, key or similar, and verify the response from the Glassbreakage sensor in the flashing
light and siren.
- Turn the Alarm Module OFF (disarm)
If the functional testing discovers any faults, please contact your nearest DEFA dealer to correct it.
Alarm OFF (disarm)
Use the original remote control to unlock the vehicle. This deactivates the Alarm Module. The turn signal
lamps flash twice to confirm that the Alarm Module is OFF. The LED stops flashing. If the Alarm Module
was triggered during your absence, the turn signal lamps flash five times and the Siren emits a «click» five
times when the Alarm Module is disarmed. The LED now flashes to indicate which sensor had triggered
the Alarm Module (cf. table page 18). In some cases the original indication off lock/unlock in the car are
used. This may appear different from what previously explained.
