The Dell™ E-Monitor Stand works with Dell E-Family laptop computers and

Using Your E-Monitor Stand
CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the
safety information that shipped with your computer.
NOTICE: The monitor stand supports a CRT with a base footprint of up to 19" or a
flat panel monitor with a base footprint of up to 20". Heavier or larger monitors may
damage the stand, laptop, or port replicator.
Connecting the E-Monitor Stand to E-Port or E-
Port Plus Port Replicators
1 With the front of the port replicator raised slightly, slide the port replicator
toward the back of monitor stand until the port replicator rests against the
guide posts.
2 Push down on the port replicator to secure it to the release tab on the
monitor stand.

3 Pull the clear plastic tab to release the cable from the back of the monitor
stand, then remove the protective cap from the cable.
4 Connect the cable to the connector on the port replicator to provide power
to the monitor stand.
The monitor stand can receive power from the laptop’s battery, the
laptop’s AC adapter, or the port replicator’s AC adapter.
NOTE: For more information on using your port replicator, see the Dell E-Port User’s
Guide or the Dell E-Port Plus User’s Guide on support.dell.com.

E-Monitor Stand Power and Docking Status
The E-Monitor Stand power button is used to turn a docked laptop on or off.
The power button light indicates the power status of the E-Monitor Stand or
a docked laptop. The docking light on the eject button indicates the AC
power and docking status of the E-Monitor Stand and the laptop.
The following table shows all of the possible conditions of docking, power,
laptop states and how these conditions are indicated by the E-Monitor Stand
power button and docking lights:

Removing a Port Replicator From the Monitor
Stand
1 Disconnect all cables from the port replicator.
2 Press the release button on the back of the monitor stand while
simultaneously lifting the front of the port replicator.
3 Remove the port replicator from the monitor stand.
