• The metal detector has three operational
modes. These are: ALL METAL, DISC, AND
PIN POINT.
• ALL METAL allows the unit to see all metals
(ferrous and non-ferrous).
• DISC (Discrimination) is used to identify which
metal can be ignored while searching. As a
guide to settings see table below.
• PINPOINT is used to locate the target more
accurately once it’s initial position has been
indicated by the search coil.
• Typical searching start mode is to set DISC
to the ALL METAL setting and SENS to its
highest setting (max. clockwise rotation).
• Loosen the search coil clamp and set coil to
be parallel to the surface being investigated.
• Adjust stem length such when user is upright
the coil is 1 -5 cm off the ground.
• Sweep the search coil from side to side in
approximately a 180 degree arc and parallel
to the ground surface, between 1 and 5cm
above it.
• When an object is detected an audible signal
will be heard. Volume of tone can be adjusted.
• If the tone is heard stop arc movement above
the point on the ground and move search coil
directly away from and then towards you to
conrm approximate location.
• In ALL METAL mode, when you nd a target,
the PINPOINT function can be used to more
accurately locate it.
• Press and hold the PINPOINT control and
sweep the coil over the sounding area
releasing the button when the audible warning
is heard.
• After 2 seconds press and hold the PINPOINT
control. Lower the coil and repeat the previous
step. Repeat this until directly above the target.
• Use the DISC control to attempt to determine
the nature of the item being sought.
• Slowly rotate the DISC control clockwise
away from ALL METAL until either the audible
warning stops or changes tone.
• Use the table provided as a reference. The
actual result may vary.
• FACTORS AFFECTING DETECTION
• Electrical interference from other instruments,

electrical cables, TV or Radio. Solution: Lower
sensitivity or change search area.
• Highly mineralised areas will cause the
audible warning to sound even if no metals are
present. Solution: Lower SENS and increase
height of coil. If necessary, reset the DISC.
• When searching a ‘salted’ or ‘trashed’ area set
DISC to 11 o’clock position in order that iron/
ferrous items such as nails , barbed wire etc.
will be ignored.
• Any metal items such as digging tools or steel
toecaps in the search vicinity can cause false
‘positives’.
• NOTE: The folding shovel has a decorative
compass in its handle. This is not to be used
for reliable navigation.
• MAINTENANCE
• Be careful when handling the detector as
circuits and controls can be damaged by
rough handling.
• Keep the detector free from dust and dirt.
• Use a damp cloth to clean the unit. DO NOT
