User Manual Field Tester
1 Introduction
Push the ON/OFF button to switch the Field Tester on.
Push the ON/OFF button 4 seconds to switch the Field Tester off.
IMPORTANT: please mind others and your own safety when using the Field Tester. Make sure no
parts of the body (hands, feet, toes) are in the trajectory of the drop weight or anywhere nearby when
you start a measurement and release the drop weight.
IMPORTANT: The Field Tester has been
calibrated. For your own reference, we recommend
to perform a reference measurement on the
enclosed rubber tile immediately after receipt. Mind
the following:
•Use a concrete floor as sub-base as flat
and thick as possible;
•Always position the Field Tester on the
same spot and mark this spot;
•It is preferred to always measure at the
same room temperature;
•Measure exactly at the centre of the tile
(due to profiled back)
•Always note the results (mean of 10
measurements) and circumstances.
In case you have doubtful readings on artificial turf after a while, perform a reference measurement as
described above. Results that are in line with the initial reference readings indicate a properly working
Field Tester. In case you find deviations bigger than the tolerance of a few %-points or millimetres, or
in case of other doubts, contact Deltec Equipment.
Connect the sensor cable (that comes from the sensor
in the drop weight) to the plug shown in the picture.

When the battery level indicator shows a low level,
power off the Field tester and charge the battery.
This picture shows the plug to use for charging the
battery. (Battery: 12vdc 4Ah NiMH)
!Only use the supplied power supply charger
with the Field Tester!

Gently pull the drop weight up against the magnet,
by means of the handle.
Please watch the cable and make sure that it does
not enter the shaft.

2 iPod Touch
Connect the iPod Touch
Step 1:
After pressing the ON-button (on top of the iPod)
the following screen is shown.
Then press the round black button in the middle
of the bottom half of the iPod to see the next
screen.
After pressing the round black button on the
iPod, the following screen appears
Go to the settings icon (picture) and press this.
The following settings menu appears:
Press the arrow to the right on the Wi-Fi rule.

Select your Wi-Fi network as shown in the
picture.
Press the line showed and choose
automatically connect.
Then go back to the home menu by
pressing the blue arrow in the left top
corner next to the word “Wi-Fi”.
Again press the blue arrow in the left top
corner next to the word “Settings”.
Then press the round black button in the
middle of the bottom half of the iPod to
return to the “Home” menu.
Step 2:
In the “Home” menu, select the “Safari”
button as shown in the picture and press it.
Choose to press the shown Deltec
application url:
https://app.deltecequipment.com
Use the indicated button, press it to Add to
Home screen.

Press “Add to Home Screen”.
The url is now showing in the “Home” screen.
Press the “Deltec” button
Insert your e-mail address and password
(received with the equipment). The following
screen appears.

Step 4:
Connect the web application with the
equipment.
Please turn on the FieldTester (see Paragraph
3). (about 30 seconds.)
Go to the settings icon (picture) and press this.
The following settings menu appears:
Press the arrow to the right on the Wi-Fi rule.
The Field Tester has its own WI-FI network.
(Deltec_FT0001, Deltec_FT0002 etc.).
Select the Deltec_ network in this screen

When the FieldTester is switched on and the
iPod is connected to the devices own WIFI
network
the following screen will be shown, the available
device will turn green.
You will be able to choose the available
device(s).
3 FieldTester
Start up the FieldTester:
Press the start button for 2 seconds (as marked in
the picture)
(Boot time is approx.24 sec)

Button manual front panel:
1= Power On / Off
2= Button UP (also left)
3= Button Down (also right)
4= Left Round button (Back)
5= Right Round button (Enter)

When the FieldTester shows a voltage of
approximately 13.6V this means that it is fully
charged.
When the FieldTester shows a voltage of 11.9V
this means that it is time to re-charge.
PS: ONLY USE THE SUPPLIED CHARGER!!!
LED Indications
Amber (Red/Green): Starting up –Not attached to
device.
Red: +/- 10 sec. after attaching to device.
Green: Battery full (after 4-6 hours).
Turning off the FieldTester:
Power off -> Use the Power Off function in the
menu or hold the Power button for 4-5 seconds.
The following menu will appear:
Left round button = Back
Right round button = Right
GPS
The GPS Data allows you to check your GPS
status. The GPS receiver will automatically
connect to the nearest GPS satellite.

When using this FieldTester for the first time it
could take about 5-10 minutes for the device to
find a GPS fix with a satellite.
Measurement Storage
The Fieldtester can store up to 100
measurements. When going over 100
measurements the 1st measurement will be
deleted and number 101 will enter the list.
Select the measurement to recall actual results.
To view the measurements go to “view
measurements” in the Menu.
With the “Set Power Off Delay”menu option you
are allowed to choose the duration time when the
device will shut down the power automatically.

Selecting the Measurement Type:
Press the right round button (Enter)
to enter the next Menu when the word “Menu” on
the screen flashes.
Press the Button Down to select the
“Measurement Type” menu and press the Right
Round button (Enter) when it flashes.
Choose from the options: 3A, 2A
Press Button UP to select 3A, press Button Down
to select 2A (in this case). When the right choice
flashes, press the Right Round button (Enter) to
select or accept and press the Left Round button
to return to the former menu.

Starting a measurement
Press the Right Round button to start the
measurement.
The test starts immediately and will show the
following data:
FR: Force Reduction in %
VD: Vertical deformation in mm
ER: Energy Restitution in %
Fmax: Maximum force in N(ewton)
Explanation of results:
DH: measured drop height in mm
V1: maximum velocity before impact
(needs to be 1.02- 1.04m/s)
V2: maximum velocity after impact
Temp: Temperature in degrees Celsius
RH: Humidity in %
Long: GPS longitude and latitude
long: GPS longitude
lat: GPS latitude
dt: Time/Year/Month/Day
N.B.: WHEN STARTING A MEASUREMENT DIRECTLY WITH THE FIELDTESTER, THE RESULTS WILL NOT
SHOW UP IN THE SOFTWARE APP IN THE IPOD!

Start a measurement with the wireless app
Select the available device

5 Troubleshooting
Troubleshoot FieldTester
When pushing the FieldTester buttons too
quickly the controller might possibly freeze for
his own safety.
After 2-3 seconds the FieldTester will be
redirected to the main-menu.
Green Icons no longer visible?
Connect your Wi-Fi to an active internet or 3/4G
connection;
Close your Deltec WebApp
Start the Deltec Web App up again.
After a view seconds the green icons should be
back.
Install a new Deltec Web application version
Close the Deltec Web application;
Start the Web application up and then close it
again.
When starting up the version is refreshed.

White screen when starting up the web
application?
Delete the Deltec WebApp from the iPod and
reinstall the Deltec Web App again.
