The Motion Sensor Quartz Security Light turns on 150
wattsofquartz-halogen lightingwhen motionis detected
and then, after a selectable period of time, automati-
cally turns the lighting off. The built-in photocell keeps
the lighting off during daylight hours.

Requirements
• The Light Control requires 120-volts AC.Do not con-
nect through a dimmer or other electronic switch.
• If you want to use Manual Mode, the control must be
wired through a switch.
• Some codes require installation by a qualified
electrician.
• This product is intended for use with the enclosed
gasket and with a junction box marked for use in wet
locations.
• The backplate has knockouts so the sensor can be
mounted on most junction boxes.
• In some applications a universal adaptor plate may
be needed. Adaptors are available at Home Centers
and Electrical Supply Stores.
* If you get confused while switching modes, turn the
power off for one minute, then back on. After the
calibration time (11/2min.) the control will be in the
AUTO mode.

❒ Drill out the holes if needed
to mount the backplate to the
junction box.
INSTALLATION
For easy installation, select an existing light with a wall
switch for replacement.
For best performance, locate the fixture about 8 ft. (2.4 m)
above the ground.
CAUTION:The sensor must be mounted below the
lamp housing for wall installations.
❒Remove the existing light fixture.
❒Strip about 5/8" insulation from the existing junction
box wiring.
❒Route the Light Control’s wires through the large
hole in the gasket.
❒Twistthejunction boxwires and fixturewirestogether
as shown. Secure with wire connectors.
❒Align the Light Control cover plate and cover plate
gasket and the junction box. Insert and tighten the
mounting screws.
❒Ifnot installedon a weatherproof boxorif anadaptor
plate is used, caulk the wall plate and mounting
surface with silicone weather sealant.

BULB INSTALLATION AND RELAMPING
❒When relamping, turn power off and let the fixture
cool.
❒Remove the screw that holds the glass cover shut.
Remove the old bulb by pushing the bulb towards
the right until the left side of the bulb is clear of the
left socket.
CAUTION to avoid fire or burn hazards:
• Allow fixture to cool before touching. The bulb
and fixture operate at high temperatures.
• Keep fixture at least 2" (5 cm) from combustible
materials.Do not aim at objects closer than 3 feet
(1 m).
• Re-lamp with type T 150W (or less) halogen 120
VAC lamp only.
For under eave installation, the sensor head must
be rotated as shown in the next two steps for proper
operation and to avoid the risk of electrical shock.

WIRE THE LIGHT CONTROL
If the sensor pops out of the ball joint, loosen the
clamp screw and push the sensor back into the ball
joint. Tighten the clamp screw when done.

socket so the bulb fits completely into the left
socket.
❒Check that the bulb is seated properly.
❒ Close the glass cover. Replace screw.

TEST AND ADJUSTMENT
❒Turn on the circuit breaker and light switch.
NOTE: Sensorrequires about1 1/2minutestocalibrate
before it will detect motion. When first turned
on, wait about 1 1/2minutes.
Avoid aiming the control at:
• Objects that change temperature rapidly, such as
heating vents and air conditioners. These heat
sources could cause false triggering.
• Areas where pets or traffic may trigger the control.
• Nearby large, light-colored objects reflecting light
may trigger the shut-off feature. Do not point other
lights at the sensor.

❒ Perfore los agujeros que se

CUIDADO: Para evitar los peligros de incendio o
quemazón:
• Deje que el elemento se enfríe antes de tocarlo.
La bombilla y el elemento funcionan a altas tem-
peraturas.
• Mantenga al elemento por lo menos a 5 cm de los
materiales combustibles.No loapuntehacia objetos
que estén más cerca de 1 m.
• Cambie sólo con bombillas T halógena de dos clavijas
de 120 VCA y de 150W (Máx.).
Para instalarlo bajo el alero, la cabeza del detector debe
sergirada como semuestraen los dos pasossiguientes
para evitar el riesgo de un choque eléctrico.

El cable de conexión a tierra de la caja de em-
palmes al tornillo verde de conexión a tierra
del aparato (o al cable verde si lo tiene).
INSTALE ELCONTROL DELUZ
❒Alinee la placa cubertora del Control de Luz y el
empaque de la placa cubertora y los agujeros de
la caja de empalmes. Asegúrelos con los tornillos
de montaje.
❒ Si no lo instala en una caja contra la intemperie, o si
usa una placa adaptadora (no incluida), calafatee
la placa de la pared y la superficie de montaje
con un sellador de silicona contra la intemperie.

NOTA: Cuando cambie la bombilla, apague la energía
y deje que el aparato se enfríe.
❒Quite el tornillo que mantiene segura la tapa de
vidrio.Quite la bombilla vieja empujándola hacia la
derecha hasta que el lado izquierdo de la bombilla
haya salido del enchufe izquierdo.
La luz halógena debe estar montada
horizontalmente (+/- 4°).

sujetador y empuje el detector hacia dentro de la unión
