Installation
Installation instructions
FCT is designed to measure clamp preload and relative torque applied to joints.
Select the correct size of FCT, which is within the maximum torque capacity of the tool used.
Make sure to install the FCT base on a stable horizontal working station to avoid/minimise any vibration or movement of
the system. Install the FCT with four fixing bolts M5x18 (see figures below):
NOTICE! Tighten the four M5 fixing bolts up to approximately 5.5 Nm.
NOTICE! Do not install the FCT near any surface that could limit its action range. Respect the following guidelines in
order to make sure that there is a clearance between the transducer cable and any external surface:
FCT30/60
Make sure that the operating area of the FCT is circular with a diameter of 600 mm (with the center on the main screw
of the FCT) –see the figure above.
Connect the FCT to the measuring instrument (Desoutter Delta 1D, 6D or 7D minimum firmware version 2.8x) through
the transducer cable.
For more information about the Desoutter Delta, refer to “Delta User Guide” (Desoutter User Guides are available at
http://www.desouttertools.com/resource-centre).

Operation
Configuration instructions
Remove the top cover of the FCT.
In sequence, vertically align the main screw (1) and the adapter (2) on the
ratchet socket of the FCT.
NOTICE! Before use, make sure that the oil 75W-90 has been
correctly added to the FCT.
Operating instructions
Operate the tool on the joint making sure to align the tool/transducer to avoid any influence from side forces which may
affect the measuring result. Failure to comply with this requirement and to exceed the maximum rated torque may cause
irreversible damage to the FCT.
See Spare Part List for recommended screws.
NOTICE! Replace the FCT screw and washer at intervals of 30000 tightenings or if excessive wear is detected.
Desoutter Delta shows the total number of tightenings of the main screw. For more information about the Desoutter
Delta, refer to “Delta User Guide” (Desoutter User Guides are available at http://www.desouttertools.com/resource-
centre).
NOTICE! Perform a manual check of the FCT nutsert at intervals of 30000 tightenings. The manual check consist in a
bare-handed tightening to check for anomalous friction. Replace the FCT nutsert if the manual check fails. Desoutter
Delta shows the total number of tightenings of the main screw. For more information about the Desoutter Delta, refer to
“Delta User Guide” (Desoutter User Guides are available at http://www.desouttertools.com/resource-centre).
NOTICE! Replace the FCT oil 75W-90 at intervals of 60000 tightenings. Dispose of the waste oil in accordance with
local regulations. Desoutter Delta shows the total number of tightenings of the main screw. For more information about
the Desoutter Delta, refer to “Delta User Guide” (Desoutter User Guides are available at

Maintenance Instructions
Cleaning
Keep the FCT clean from swarf and dust.
After use, remove any trace of oil, and dust from the FCT.
Use an anti-static cleaning cloth to remove dust from the FCT.
Avoid using harsh detergents to clean the FCT.
Calibration
Calibration is a set of operations that compares the values indicated by a measuring system to the corresponding values
realized by external standards.
The accuracy of electronic drifts with time and temperature, which can result in measurement inaccuracy.
Calibration restores the FCT components to their specified accuracy and ensures that the device still meets Desoutter
standards.
Desoutter recommends performing a complete calibration at least once every year. You can shorten this interval based on
the demands of your application.
To do a complete calibration, please contact a certified Desoutter Service Technician or a Force Calibration Laboratory
(ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited Laboratory recommended).
