The QA-ST is esigne to quickly check electrical safety on me ical
an in ustrial evices. It is palm-size an very portable. The tests
can be performe manually or in step-by-step mo e. The results are
isplaye in a bright 4- igit LCD isplay.
The QA-ST performs all electrical safety tests necessary to satisfy
AAMI ESI, NFPA-99, VDE 701, VDE 751 an HEI 95. It also features
ifferential current measurements obtaine by an internal current
clamp. This presents a new leakage current measurement technique
for convenient testing of me ical equipment with a fixe power cor
(har wire to wall, not etachable).

1. Inspect the outer box for physical amage.
2. Carefully unpack all items from the box an check to see that you
have the following items:
•QA-ST Electrical Safety Analyzer (P.N. 11040)
•User/Service Manual QA-ST (P.N. 11045)
•Test Lea (Kelvin Cable) (P.N. 17290)
•Specifie power supply socket
3. If you note physical amage, or if the unit fails to function accor -
ing to specification, inform the supplier imme iately. When
METRON or the company’s Sales Agent, is informe , measures
1

will be taken to either repair the unit or ispatch a replacement.
The customer will not have to wait for a claim to be investigate
by the Sales Agent. The Customer shoul issue a new purchase
or er to ensure elivery.
4. When returning an instrument to METRON, or the Sales Agent,
fill out the a ress label, escribe what is wrong with the instru-
ment, an provi e the mo el an serial numbers. If possible, use
the original packaging material for return shipping. Otherwise,
repack the unit using:
•a reinforce car boar box, strong enough to carry the
weight of the unit.
•at least 5 cm of shock-absorbing material aroun the unit.
•nonabrasive ust-free material for the other parts.
Repack the unit in a manner to ensure that it cannot shift in the
box uring shipment.
METRON’s pro uct warranty is on page ii of this manual. The war-
ranty oes not cover freight charges. C.O.D. will not be accepte
without authorization from METRON or its Sales Agent.

4 QA-ST Safety Tests
This chapter escribes QA-ST safety tests by function. If you are un-
familiar with the simulators’ basic operation, refer to paragrap 3.3,
Operating QA-ST.
NOTE: When the QA-ST is initially powere up, the unit will be in a
efault con ition. At this time no measurements are being per-
forme .

The purpose of this test is to test for any leakage current between
patient lea s (applie parts).
1. Connect patient lea s to the QA-ST starting with port 1,
then 2 an so forth.

2. Press “Patient Current Lead to Lead”.
3. The result for Lea 1 will be isplaye on the LCD isplay. To
test Lea 2, press “Patient Current Lead to Lead”. Observe
that the lea un er test number is in icate in binary format by
