INTRODUCTION
The Heated Humidifier system is an optional accessory to the IntelliPAP and SleepCube
series flow generators. It is intended to provide heated humidity to improve the comfort
and outcomes of positive airway pressure therapy.
Indications For Use
Use on the advice and prescription of a licensed physician to help relieve the symptoms of
dryness of the throat, nasal passages and the mouth, which are common with positive
airway pressure therapy. This is especially true in dry climates and during the cold season
when humidity in the air is typically lower than at other times.

There are no user-serviceable internal components. If service is required,
return the product to your home care provider. Opening or tampering
with the product will void the warranty.
WARNING
Use the Heated Humidifier system only for its intended use as described in
this manual.
Be sure to read and understand all safety instructions supplied with your
IntelliPAP or SleepCube flow generator device.
Use only accessories recommended by DeVilbiss.
Always remove the water chamber from the humidifier cradle for filling.
Use only tubing recommended or supplied with the flow generator.
If water has been spilled onto the cradle or it has been submerged into
water, unplug the power cord from the power source immediately. Allow
the device to completely dry before use.
If the device has been dropped, refer to the troubleshooting guide for
instructions. Contact your homecare provider for evaluation of the device.
Never block the air openings of the cradle or chamber. Do not insert any
objects into any openings or tubes.
For proper operation of the humidifier, the device must be placed on a
flat, level surface.
Never place the system on a soft surface such as a bed or couch during
operation.
This heated humidifier is intended for single-patient use only.
Be sure that you read and understand the information in this instruction
guide. By following these instructions and the advice of your physician,
your heated humidifier system will become an effective addition to your
CPAP therapy.

System Assembly
NOTE-Follow Steps 1-3 if you received your humidifier system and CPAP
separately. Start with Step 4 if you received the complete system in
one carton.
1. Locate the heater power connector on the bottom of the
device. Remove the port plug and insert it into the storage
opening in the bottom of the humidifier cradle (Fig 1).
2. Remove the air supply tubing from the back of the device.
3. Locate the air supply port at the bottom of the device.
Remove the port plug and insert it into the air supply port
in the back of the device (Fig 2).
Attaching Flow Generator
4. For easier attachment, remove the water chamber before
assembling the flow generator and humidifier cradle.
5. Align the base of the device with the cradle at a slight angle
as shown (Fig 3). Slide the device forward and align cradle
locking tabs with the recesses in the CPAP. Firmly press
down the back to lock into place.
6. Verify that both sides of the device have clicked into place
with the humidifier cradle.
7. Attach the air supply tubing to the air supply port outlet on
the humidifier cradle (Fig 4).
8. Insert the power cord into the back of the flow generator.
Make sure the power cord is fully inserted into the
connector (Fig 5). Plug the other end of the power cord
into the AC wall outlet.
CAUTION–The height of the system must always be lower than
the interface mask during use to prevent water from
getting into the CPAP mask.
Filling The Chamber
1. Hold the chamber upright and fill with distilled water to the
top of the opening (Fig 6).
CAUTION–Use only distilled water that is at room temperature.
Do not add any medication or other additives to the
water.
2. Carefully tip the chamber back to the level position. The
water in the fill ports will flow into the chamber when it is
tipped back to the level position.

CAUTION–For proper operation, ensure the flow generator is OFF
before inserting humidifier chamber.
3. Slide the chamber back into the humidifier cradle. Ensure
the chamber is fully engaged with the humidifier cradle and
the chamber release latch snaps in place when inserted.
WARNING
Do not attempt to fill the humidifier while it is
attached to the humidifier cradle. Damage to the
humidifier cradle may occur.
If the system is placed on the floor, do not position it where it may be
stepped on when getting out of bed.
Never touch the heater plate on the humidifier cradle. Never touch the
heat transfer plate on the bottom of the water chamber. These plates can
reach temperatures as high as 149°F (65°C) during operation.
Do not operate the heater if the water chamber is empty. The heater
plate may be turned off using the keypad heater control when being used
without water.

The heater controls and status are located on the keypad and
display.

Controlling The Humidity
The heater setting can be adjusted in a range of 1 to 10. The
optimum temperature setting is dependent on the ambient
temperature and humidity of your room. If your room temperature is low and/or the
relative humidity is high, then a lower temperature setting may be necessary to prevent
excess condensation in the air supply tubing. If the room temperature is high and/or the
relative humidity is low, then a higher temperature setting may be necessary for optimum
comfort.
The heater setting of 1 results in a heater plate temperature of approximately 84°F (29°C).
The heater setting of 10 results in a heater plate temperature of approximately 149°F (65°C).

Daily Use Instructions
NOTE–Always allow at least 10 minutes of cooling time after turning the device off before removing the
water chamber from the humidifier cradle.
1. Press down on the chamber release latch of the humidifier and remove the chamber
from the cradle (Fig 8).
2. Open the chamber and empty any water remaining from the previous night.
3. Clean the chamber according to the cleaning instructions and reassemble.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Water Chamber
1. Press down on the chamber release latch and pull out the
water chamber from the cradle (Fig 8).
2. Separate the chamber halves by pressing forward on the
chamber disassembly lever and lifting the lid of the chamber
(Fig 9).
3. Remove the sealing gasket from the chamber lid (Fig 10).
4. Wash the parts in a solution of warm water and mild
dishwashing detergent.
CAUTION–Hand wash only. Do not use any solutions that contain
bleach, chlorine, alcohol, scented oils or other
aromatic-based ingredients to clean the humidifier
components or tubing. These solutions may reduce the
life of the product.
5. Allow the parts to dry before reassembly.
Reassembly
1. Insert the gasket seal into the groove on the chamber lid.
Inspect the fitting of the gasket to ensure it is fully in place
(Fig 11).
2. Snap the chamber base and lid together by inserting the tabs
on the lid into the slots on the base.
CAUTION–Inspect the gasket seal before each use to ensure that
it is properly seated in the groove around the entire
chamber.
Humidifier Cradle
NOTE–The humidifier cradle should be cleaned as needed.
1. Turn off the heater and unplug from the power source.
Allow the system to cool for at least 10 minutes.

2. To detach the flow generator from the humidifier cradle,
first remove the water chamber then fully depress the flow
generator release button to separate (Fig 12).
NOTE-The flow generator release button must be pressed completely to
separate.
3. Use a soft damp cloth to clean the surfaces of the unit.

TWO-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
The DeVilbiss Heated Humidifier System Model DV5HH is warranted to be free from
defective workmanship and materials for a period of two years from date of purchase
(except 90 days on chamber). Any defective part(s) will be repaired or replaced at
DeVilbiss’s option if the unit has not been tampered with or used improperly during that
period. Make certain that any malfunction is not due to inadequate cleaning or failure to
follow the instructions. This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear on the o-ring
seal. If repair is necessary, contact your DeVilbiss provider or DeVilbiss Customer Service
Department for instructions:

Indicaciones de uso

Mientras el sistema esté en funcionamiento, no lo coloque nunca sobre
superficies blandas, como camas o sofás.
El uso de este humidificador con calentador está destinado a un único
paciente.
Asegúrese de haber leído y comprendido toda la información contenida en
esta guía de instrucciones. Si sigue dichas instrucciones y los consejos de
su médico, el sistema humidificador con calentador supondrá un
complemento efectivo a la terapia CPAP.
Antes de transportar el dispositivo, vacíe y seque la cámara de agua.
PRECAUCIÓN: Durante su uso, el sistema debe estar siempre situado a una altura inferior a
la de la mascarilla facial, para impedir que entre agua en la mascarilla del
CPAP.

Montaje del sistema
NOTA: Siga los pasos 1 a 3 si ha recibido el sistema humidificador y CPAP
por separado. Puede empezar por el paso 4 si ha recibido el
sistema completo en una caja.
1. Localice el conector de suministro eléctrico del calentador
que se encuentra en la parte inferior del dispositivo. Retire
la cubierta flexible e insértela en el orificio de
almacenamiento de la parte inferior del soporte (Fig. 1).
2. Retire el tubo de suministro de aire de la parte posterior
del dispositivo.
3. Localice el puerto de suministro de aire que se encuentra
en la parte inferior del dispositivo. Retire la cubierta flexible
e insértela en el puerto de suministro de aire que se
encuentra en la parte posterior del dispositivo (Fig. 2).
Fijación del generador de flujo
4. Para facilitar la fijación, retire la cámara de agua antes de
montar el soporte y el generador de flujo.
5. Alinee la base del dispositivo con el soporte formando un
pequeño ángulo, como se muestra en la ilustración (Fig. 3).
Deslice hacia adelante el dispositivo y alinee las pestañas de
bloqueo con las hendiduras del dispositivo. Presione
firmemente hacia abajo para fijarlo en su posición.
6. Verifique que ambos laterales del dispositivo hagan clic al
fijarlos en el soporte del humidificador.
7. Conecte el tubo de suministro de aire a la salida de
suministro de aire que se encuentra en el soporte del
humidificador (Fig. 4).
8. Inserte el cable de alimentación en la parte posterior del
generador de flujo. Asegúrese de que el cable esté
insertado completamente en el conector (Fig. 5). Enchufe
el otro extremo del cable a la toma de CA de la pared.

Cómo llenar la cámara
1. Sujete la cámara hacia arriba y llénela con agua destilada
hasta la parte superior del orificio (Fig. 6).
PRECAUCIÓN: Utilice únicamente agua destilada que esté a
temperatura ambiente. No añada ningún
medicamento ni otros aditivos al agua.
2. Incline con cuidado la cámara para volver a colocarla en
posición nivelada. El agua contenida en los puertos de
llenado fluirá hacia la cámara cuando se incline hasta la
posición nivelada.
PRECAUCIÓN: Para un funcionamiento correcto, compruebe que el generador de flujo esté
apagado antes de insertar la cámara del humidificador.
3. Vuelva a deslizar la cámara en el soporte del humidificador. Asegúrese de que la cámara
esté completamente encajada en el soporte del humidificador y de que el seguro de la
cámara haga clic al colocarse en su sitio cuando se inserte.
ADVERTENCIA
No intente llenar el humidificador mientras esté colocado en el soporte.
Se podrían producir daños en el soporte del humidificador.
Si coloca el sistema en el suelo, no lo haga donde pueda pisarlo al
levantarse de la cama.
No toque nunca la placa del calentador del soporte del humidificador. No
toque nunca la placa de transferencia de calor de la parte inferior de la
cámara de agua. Estas placas pueden alcanzar temperaturas de hasta
65 °C (149 °F) durante el funcionamiento.
No ponga en funcionamiento el calentador si la cámara de agua está vacía.
La placa del calentador se puede apagar con el control del calentador del
teclado cuando se utilice sin agua.

Controles del calentador
Los indicadores de estado y los controles del calentador están
situados en la pantalla y el teclado.

Control de la humedad
La configuración del calentador se puede ajustar en un intervalo comprendido entre 1 y 10.
La configuración de temperatura óptima dependerá de la humedad y de la temperatura
ambiente de su habitación. Si la temperatura de la habitación es baja y/o la humedad relativa
es alta, es posible que necesite aplicar una configuración de temperatura más baja para
evitar una condensación excesiva en el tubo de suministro de aire. Si la temperatura de la
habitación es alta y/o la humedad relativa es baja, es posible que necesite aplicar una
configuración de temperatura más alta para obtener una comodidad óptima.
El valor 1 de configuración del calentador se traduce en una temperatura de la placa del
calentador de aproximadamente 29 °C (84 °F). El valor 10 de configuración del calentador se
traduce en una temperatura de la placa del calentador de aproximadamente 65 °C (149 °F).
Instrucciones de uso diario
NOTA:Espere siempre al menos 10 minutos para que el dispositivo se enfríe una vez apagado antes de
retirar la cámara de agua del soporte del humidificador.
1. Presione hacia abajo el seguro de la cámara del humidificador y retire la cámara del
soporte (Fig. 8).
2. Abra la cámara y vacíe el agua que haya podido quedar de
la noche anterior.
3. Limpie la cámara conforme a las instrucciones de limpieza y
vuelva a montarla.
INSTRUCCIONES DE LIMPIEZA
Cámara de agua
1. Presione hacia abajo el seguro de liberación de la cámara y
retírela del soporte (Fig. 8).
2. Para separar las mitades de la cámara, pulse hacia adelante
la palanca de desmontaje de la cámara y levante la tapa de
la cámara (Fig. 9).

3. Retire la junta de sellado de la tapa de la cámara (Fig. 10).
4. Lave las piezas en una solución de agua tibia y detergente
para lavavajillas suave.
PRECAUCIÓN: Lavar únicamente a mano. No utilice soluciones
que contengan lejía, cloro, alcohol, aceites
aromáticos u otros ingredientes con base
aromática para limpiar los tubos o componentes
del humidificador. Estas soluciones pueden reducir
la vida útil del producto.
5. Deje que las piezas se sequen antes de volver a montarlas.
Montaje
1. Inserte la junta de sellado en la ranura de la tapa de la
cámara. Inspeccione el ajuste de la junta para asegurarse
de que está insertada correctamente (Fig. 11).
2. Inserte las pestañas de la tapa en las ranuras de la base de
la cámara para fijar la tapa a la base de la cámara.
PRECAUCIÓN: Inspeccione la junta de sellado antes de cada
uso para asegurarse de que esté correctamente
insertada en la ranura alrededor de toda la
cámara.
Soporte del humidificador
NOTA: El botón de liberación del generador de flujo se debe
pulsar a fondo pata separar las piezas.
1. Apague el calentador y desconéctelo de la toma de
corriente. Deje que el sistema se enfríe durante al menos
10 minutos.
2. Para desprender el generador de flujo del soporte del
humidificador, retire primero la cámara de agua y, a
continuación, pulse a fondo el botón de liberación del
generador de flujo para separar las piezas (Fig. 12).
NOTA: El soporte del humidificador se debe limpiar siempre que sea
necesario.
3. Utilice un paño suave humedecido para limpiar las superficies de la unidad.
