Hardware Installation:
1. Connect the left and right audio cables (Red and White) from your video
source (VCR/Camcorder/Game Console) outputs to the left and right audio
inputs of the VC500MAC. If your source only has one audio output, connect
to the red or white input.
2. Connect the video cable (Yellow) from your video source output into the video
input of the VC500MAC.
Note: alternatively, you can use the S-Video input/output in place of the
composite RCA yellow video cable.
3. Connect the USB cable from the VC500MAC into an available USB port on
your Mac computer or Windows 10 based PC and proceed to Software
Installation
Software Installation (Mac OS)
1. After the hardware installation, install the Empia software from the provided
installation disk. Note: the serial activation key (Empia S/N) is located on the
installation disk paper envelope. If you do not have CD/DVD drive you can
download the software from the link below and still use the same Empia S/N
on the disk envelope:

If you want the installation disk for both Mac OS and Windows 10 OS use the

link below. Note the Mac installation files are located in the Mac folder. For
windows 10 installation skip to page 11.

Note: if you get the following message:
Go to “System Preferences”, “Security & Privacy” and under “General” Click
on “Open Anyway” and follow the software installation process
Enter your Empia S/N which is located on the paper CD sleeve
When complete you will see the message below. Just unplug and re plug the
VC500mac into your USB port

2. Starting the Empia Capture software.
3. Go to Applications and open the Empia folder then click on Empia
4. Go to the toolbar and click on Digitizers/Empia
Snapshot & Snapshot Setup (Used for grabbing still image
screen shots from your video source)
1. Click on Snapshot tab and then click on Snapshot to grab a still image from
your video or click on Snapshot setup to change image formats and default
destination directories

2. Type in file name and choose file type and where to save.
3. Click on save to save the file.

Video and Audio setup overview
1. Click on the record tab and make sure Record Video and Record Sound are
checked. Then click on Sound Settings and go to the Source and make sure the
audio device is set for USB 28286 Device otherwise the recorded audio will
not be captured from your VHS/Camcorder.
2. To start video capture recording click on the Record tab then select option
record or use the “Command” key and the “R” on the keyboard at the same
time to start recording.
3. You will see the following menu asking you to name and where to save your
video file

FAQ
Q1: I cannot open the software?
Answer: Device must be plugged into pc before the software can start.
Q2: Why is there no picture when software is started?
Answer: Please make sure you are have the inputs set for composite when using the
red, white and yellow cable or S-Video when using the black S-video, red
and white connection
Q3: How to uninstall the software?
Answer: 1:Please make sure the device is plugged into your Mac.

Windows 10 Software Installation
1. Plug the VC500mac into your Windows 10 based PC. The drivers are built
into windows 10 and will automatically install.
Note: Windows will detect and display the VC500Mac buy the chipset
manufacture number 28286 Device.
2. Using the included installation CD open the folder named PD12 and open the
file name “Setup.exe” Application. The installation process will guide you
through the rest of the installation.
Note: To activate the Cyberlink Power Director software you will need to
enter the CD key which is located on the CD sleeve
3. Once the software installation is complete you will see the Cyberlink
Power Director Icon on your desktop, if not you will be able find it under your
windows programs and applications.
4. Double click to open the Power Director 12 software and select the option for
“Full Feature Editor” This will option will allow you to capture, edit and burn
your videos to DVD
5. After the program is opened click on the “Capture” tab in the top left corner.
Make sure you also click on the “Capture from TV Signal” button as well.
6. You are now ready to capture your video from your VHS/Camcorder. To start
recording click on the red record button. To stop recording click on the same
red button.
7. For detailed instructions on how to use Power Director, you can click on the “?”
mark located in the top right corner and select help. You can also view the
PDF version of the guide located in the PD12 folder on the installation CD.

One Year Limited Warranty
The warranty described below is extended only to the original buyer and is not
transferable.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PRODUCT YOU HAVE PURCHASED IS
DISTRIBUTED AND WARRANTED BY DIAMOND
MULTIMEDIA ("DIAMOND") AS DESCRIBED BELOW. QUESTIONS
REGARDING THIS WARRANTY AND WARRANTY CLAIMS SHOULD BE
MADE TO DIAMOND.
Diamond warrants to the original purchaser of the hardware product, that the product

is free from defects in materials or workmanship under normal use and service for a
period of one (1) year from the date of purchase at retail. All cables and accessories
provided with a Diamond product are warranted to be free from defects in materials
or workmanship under normal use and service for a period of for (90) ninety days
from date of purchase at retail. Diamond ’s sole obligation under this warranty shall
be, at Diamond ’s option, to: (i) repair the defective product or part; (ii) deliver to
customer an equivalent product or part to replace the defective product. When a
product or part is replaced or exchanged, the item becomes customer’s property and
the replaced or exchanged item becomes Diamond ’s property. When a refund or
replacement product is given, the defective product becomes Diamond’s property.
Replacement parts or products may be new or include serviceable used parts with at
least the same functional equivalence to the original product. If, at the time of repair,
a product is "out of warranty" or within the last ninety (90) days of the warranty
period, Diamond warrants any repair for ninety (90) days. All software provided is
subject to the terms of the associated software end-user license agreement.
WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS THIS WARRANTY IS ONLY
APPLICABLE TO PRODUCTS SOLD BY DIAMOND AFTER MAY 1, 2007.
THIS WARRANTY IS ONLY APPLICABLE IF PRODUCT REGISTRATION IS
RECEIVED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE DATE THE PRODUCT IS PURCHASED.
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS WARRANTY, YOU MUST REGISTER AT
diamondmm.com. THE ORIGINAL SALES RECEIPT SHOWING THE DATE OF
PURCHASE OF THE PRODUCT IS PROOF OF THE DATE OF PURCHASE.
DIAMOND MAY REQUEST THE ORIGINAL SALES RECEIPT OR A COPY AS
PROOF OF DATE OF PURCHASE.

WARRANTIES, TERMS OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, QUALITY, CORRESPONDENCE WITH
DESCRIPTION AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, ALL OF WHICH ARE
EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED. DIAMOND WILL NOT BE LIABLE UNDER THIS
WARRANTY IF ITS TESTING AND EXAMINATION DISCLOSE THAT THE

THE POSSIBLITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. DIAMOND ’S SOLE LIABILITY
WITH RESPECT TO ITS PRODUCT IS LIMITED TO REPAIR OR
REPLACEMENT OF THE PRODUCT, AT DIAMOND ’S OPTION. THIS
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES WILL NOT BE AFFECTED IF
ANY REMEDY PROVIDED HEREIN SHALL FAIL FOR ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.
