DESCRIPTION
With your Digicom PCI Card 10/100 network card you can connect your
PC to a Local Area Network regardless of its operating speed (10 or 100
Mbit/s).

PREFACE
The following installation rules should be respected in order to have the
best working order of the equipment and for the user’s safety.
ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS

This product satisfies the basic requirements of Electromagnetic
Compatibility and Safety of the below indicated Directive:
l89/336/CEE of 3 May 1989 with subsequent modifications (Directive
92/31/CEE of April 28, 1992, Directive 93/68/CEE of July 22,1993 and
Directive 93/97/CEE of 29 October 1993).
l73/23/CEE of February 19, 1973 with subsequent modifications
(Directive 93/68 ECC of July 22, 1993).
CHECK REPORT
The equipment has been successfully tested according to the check
procedure indicated on the inside back cover of the user’s manual. It is in
conformitywiththetechnicalcharacteristics describedin theusers’ manual
supplied with the equipment.
WARRANTY
WARRANTY CLAUSES
lThe equipment has a warranty which covers manufacturing and
operating faults for the period indicated on the inside back cover of the
user’s manual.
lThe warranty is to be considered freight forward and the goods must
reach the address indicated below at customer’s expences.
lWarranty means the substitution or repairing of fault products. Working
hours used for repairing included in the warranty.
lThe estetic and the separable parts are not included in the warranty.
lThe warranty is not extended to equipments which have been subject
to misuse, improper installation, electric discharge or repaired by
unauthorized staff.

HARDWARE INSTALLATION
Please refer to your PC documentation in order to correctly identify a Bus
Mastering PCI slot and the “5V Standby” connector for Wake On Lan
functionality. Also see the Setup/Bios documentation regarding PCI slots
and their settings.
To install the PCI Card 10/100, power off your PC and remove the chassis
cover. Next, select an unused PCI expansion bus slot and remove its
protective bracket. Carefully insert the card and press until all the edge
connectors are firmly seated inside the slot. Screw the card’s bracket
securely into the PC’s chassis and replace the cover.
If you are going to use the Wake On Lan capability, attach one end of the
3-pin Wake-on-LAN cable to the connector on the top edge of the card,
and the other end to the “5V Standby”
connector on the computer’s
motherboard.
Connect the PCI Card 10/100 to a
10Base-T or 100Base-TX hub or
switch using RJ45-RJ45 UTP cables
(Category 3, 4 or 5 for 10BASE-T;
Category 5 for 100BASE-TX).
The maximum allowable length of
10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX cable
connections is 100 meters (328 ft.).
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
The PCI Card 10/100 should
beautomaticallyconfiguredby
the PCI computer’s BIOS
setup program.
However, if you have an
older PCI computer, you
may have to change the
computer’s BIOS settings
to accomplish this.
Please refer to section
“Setup and Diagnostics”.
Windows® 98/95
At startup your PC will
automaticallydetect anew
hardware and ask for the
drivers.
Click on Next.
Insert the driver disk into the
floppy drive, type A:\ and click on
Browse. Select Win95 or Win98
folder.
Click on OK.
Follow the instructions to
complete the installation.
OTHER OPERATING SYSTEMS OR APPLICATIONS
All drivers regarding supported operating systems and applications are
located in dedicated folders on the diskette.
Refer to the Release.txt file on the diskette for more details and general
informations.
Where needed a *.TXT file provides specific installation and use details.
SETUP AND DIAGNOSTICS
From the DOS prompt (not from a DOS window under Windows®) run
DIAG.EXE, available in the SETUP folder on the diskette.
Through View current configuration and Set New Configuration menues
you can check the current settings and modify them to match your needs.
Note: IRQ and I/O Base are controlled by the PC’s Bios.
Test andDiagnostic functionsareavailable fortesting andtroubleshooting.
Please refer to DIAG.TXT file for more detailed informations.
