INTRODUCTION
You h ve m de n excellent choice in selecting the Dometic Absorption Refrigerator.
We re sure th t you will be fully s tisfied with your new ppli nce in ll respects.
The ppli nce, which works silently, meets high qu lity st nd rds nd gu r ntees
the efficient utilis tion of resources nd energy throughout its entire life cycle, during
m nuf cture, in use nd when being disposed of.
Before you st rt to use the ppli nce, ple se re d the inst ll tion nd oper ting
instructions c refully.
The refriger tor is designed for inst ll tion in leisure vehicles such s c r v ns or
motorc r v ns. The ppli nce h s been certified for this pplic tion in ccord nce with
EU G s Directive 90/396/EEC.
FOR YOUR SAFETY
Warning and safety notices
Never use a naked flame to check the appliance for leaks.
Protect children!
When disposing of the refriger tor, remove ll refriger tor doors nd le ve the
stor ge r ck in the refriger tor. This will prevent ccident l locking in or suffoc tion.
If you smell g s:
- close the locking t p of the g s supply nd the v lve on the cylinder.
- open the windows nd le ve the room.
- do not switch on nything electric l.
- extinguish n ked fl mes.
Never open the cooling unit; it is under high pressure.
Work on the gas, flue system and electrical components must only be
carried out by qualified service personnel.
It is imper tive th t the oper ting pressure should correspond to the d t given on
the model pl te of the ppli nce.
Comp re the oper ting pressure d t given on the model pl te with the d t on the
pressure monitor of the liquid g s cylinder.
G s oper tion of the ppli nce is not permitted while tr velling on ferries.
Covers ensure electric l s fety nd must only be removed using tool.
The ppli nce must not be exposed to r in.
The refrigerator is not suitable for the proper storage of medications.
Coolant
Ammoni is used s cool nt.
This is n tur l compound lso used in household cle ning gents (1 litre of
S lmi k cle ner cont ins up to 200g of mmoni - bout twice s much s is used
in the refriger tor). Sodium chrom te is used for corrosion protection (1.8% of the
solvent).

Cleaning
Before using the refriger tor, it is dvis ble to cle n the ppli nce both inside nd
out.
Use soft cloth nd lukew rm w ter with mild detergent.
Then rinse the ppli nce with cle n w ter nd dry thoroughly.
Remove dust from the refriger tor unit t ye rly interv ls using brush or soft cloth.

Using the refrigerator
The cooling unit is silent in oper tion.
When the ppli nce is first put into oper tion, there m y be mild odour
which will dis ppe r fter few hours.
Ensure the living re is well ventil ted.
The refriger tor will t ke sever l hours to re ch its oper ting temper ture
in the cooling comp rtment
The freezer comp rtment should be cold bout one hour fter switching on
the refriger tor.
Controls
Note:
The refriger tor is equipped to oper te on m ins power, DC or liquid g s (prop ne/
but ne). The desired power option is selected by me ns of energy selector switch (A).
Energy selector switch (A) h s four settings: AC m ins power, DC (12V),
Gas (liquid g s), OFF.
Appliances with automatic energy selection have the additional setting AUTO .

Electrical operation
1. 12V - operation (DC)
The refrigerator should only be used while the motor is running, otherwise
the on-board-battery would be discharged within a few hours!
2. Mains power
This option should only be selected where the supply volt ge of the connection for
power supply corresponds to the v lue specified on the d t pl te. Any difference in
v lues m y result in d m ge the ppli nce.

Gas operation
The refrigerator should only be operated using liquid gas
(propane, butane). Do not use town gas or natural gas.
If the refrigerator is operated during travel using gas, the precautions
stipulated by the legislation in the respective country must be taken (in
conformity with the European standard EN 32).
Operating the refrigerator with gas is not permitted during travel in
France and Australia.
As a basic rule, operation using gas is prohibited in petrol stations.
1. Open the v lve of the g s cylinder
2. Open the shut-off v lve to the g s supply.
The ignition process is ctiv ted utom tic lly, ccomp nied by ticking sound
pprox. 30 sec. Upon successful ignition, the displ y LED (C) G s lights yellow.
The refriger tor is in function. Use rot ry switch (B) to regul te the temper ture in the
m in refriger tor comp rtment.
Gas faults
In the event of g s f ult (e.g. g s cylinder empty),
the oper ting displ y (C) fl shes yellow.
Remedies:
Set the energy selector switch (A) to position OFF.
1. Is there ny g s in the g s bottle?
2. Is the g s bottle v lve open?
3. Is the on-bo rd shut-off v lve open?
4. Set the m in switch (A) to on
The reignition st rts g in.
If after about 30 seconds the operating display (C) starts flashing red
again, the gas fault has not been cleared (e.g. air in the gas pipe).
5. Briefly switch the refriger tor off nd then on g in using m in switch (A).
To remove ir from the g s pipes, repe t this procedure 3-4 times.
If these actions do not help, please call an authorised Dometic Service Centre.

AUTO-operation
RM7XX5 L - models re equipped with n AUTO-MATIC function.
Explanations:
Upon switching on, the electronics utom tic lly select one of the three
possible energy types: 230V - 12V - liquid gas. The control electronics
utom tic lly ensure th t the refriger tor is supplied with the optimum
source of energy in e ch respective c se.
Priority 1.) Solar (12V DC)
2.) 230V AC
3.) 12V DC
4.) Liquid gas
The selected energy is displ yed by the corresponding LED (i.e. 230V)
.
230 V - operation
If sufficient supply volt ge is v il ble (more th n 200V), this power source is
selected s the first option ( no sol r-system inst lled).
12 V - operation
12V oper tion should only be selected while the vehicle motor is running or there
is sufficient volt ge v il ble from the sol r system. This c n be detected from
the D+ connection of the ltern tor to the electronics, or from the respective sig-
n l on the sol r ch rge regul tor.
Gas operation
G s oper tion is selected in the following circumst nces:
No supply volt ge v il ble.
The vehicle engine is not running.
Supply volt ge less th n 200V
REFUELLING STOP
In order to prevent unintended switching to g s oper tion during refuelling,
the electronic system st rts g s oper tion of the refriger tor, fter the
motor h s been turned off for 15 mins. During this time the ppli nce is in
st nd-by oper tion mode nd only the "AUTO" LED lights up.
The use of naked flames is prohibited in petrol station environments.
If the refuelling stop lasts longer than 15 mins., the refrigerator should be
switched off at the main switch (A), or switched over to another energy
type.

Storing food
Alw ys store food in se led cont iners, luminium foil or simil r.
Never put hot food into the refriger tor, lw ys let it cool down first.
Products th t could emit vol tile, fl mm ble g ses must not be stored in the
refriger tor.
Store quickly perish ble foods directly next to the cooling fins.
The freezer comp rtment is suit ble for m king ice cubes nd for short-term
stor ge of frozen food. It is not suit ble s me ns of freezing foods.
Making ice cubes
Ice cubes re best frozen overnight. At night, the refriger tor h s less work to do nd
the unit h s more reserves.
Defrosting
As time goes by, frost builds up on the fins.
When the l yer of frost is bout 3mm thick, the refriger tor should be defrosted.
1. Switch off the refriger tor, s described in Section 5.8 - "Switching off".
2. Remove the ice cube tr y nd food.
3. Le ve the refriger tor door open.
4. After defrosting (freezer comp rtment nd fins free of frost), wipe the c binet dry
with cloth.
5. Use cloth to mop up the w ter from the freezer comp rtment.
6. Switch the refriger tor b ck on g in.
The l yer of ice must never be removed forcibly, nor m y defrosting be
cceler ted using he t source.
Note:
W ter th wing in the m in comp rtment of the refriger tor runs into n ppropri te
cont iner t the b ck of the refriger tor. From there, the w ter ev por tes.

Maintenance
Works on gas components and electical installation may only be carried out
by authorised personnel. We recommend to cont ct your Dometic Service
Centre.
EN 1949 stipul tes th t the ppli nce´s g s equipment nd its ssoci ted fume
system must be inspected fter inst ll tion nd certific te issued.
Afterw rds qu lified technici n must inspect ccording to EN 1949 every two
ye rs nd certific te issued.
It is the users responsibily to arrange for inspections after purchase.
It is recommended th t the g s burner be inspected nd cle ned s necess ry t
le st once ye r.
We recommend m inten nce following n extended shutdown of the vehicle.
Product liability
Product li bility of Dometic GmbH does not include d m ges which m y rise from
f ulty oper tion, improper lter tions or intervention in the equipment, dverse effects
from the environment such s ch nges in temper ture nd ir humidity, which m y
imp ct the equipment itself or the direct vicinity of the equipment or persons in the
re .
Environmental hints
Refriger tors m nuf ctured by Dometic GmbH re CFC-free.
Ammoni ( n tur l compound of hydrogen nd nitrogen) is used in the cooling unit
s cool nt. The non-ozone-h z rdous cyclopent n is used s propell nt in the
m nuf cture of the PU fo m insul tion.
Disposal
In order to ensure th t the recycl ble p ck ging m teri ls re re-used, these should
be sent to the usu l loc l collection system.
The ppli nce should be tr nsferred to suit ble w ste dispos l comp ny th t will
ensure re-use of the recycl ble components nd proper dispos l of the rest.
For eco-friendly dr ining of the cool nt from ll bsorber refriger tion units, suit ble
dispos l pl nt should be used.
Energy-saving tips
At n ver ge mbient temper ture of pprox. 25°C, it is sufficient to oper te the
refriger tor t the middle thermost t setting (for both g s nd m ins volt ge).
Where possible, lw ys store goods th t h ve previously been cooled.
Do not position the refriger tor in direct sunlight.
Const nt circul tion of ir must be supplied to the refriger tor unit.
Defrost regul rly.
Open the door only for short time when removing goods from the refriger tor.
Run the refriger tor for bout 12 hours before filling it.

INSTALLATION GUIDE
On inst ll tion of the ppli nce, the technic l nd dministr tive regul tions of the
country in which the vehicle will first be used must be dhered to. Otherwise the
refriger tor must be inst lled s described in these instructions. In some OEM ppli-
c tions it m y not be possible for these instructions to be followed ex ctly. In this c se
n uthorised Dometic represent tive m y issue supplement ry instruction
In Europe, for example, gas appliances, cable laying, installation of gas
cylinders, as well as approval and checking for leaks must comply with
EN 1949 for liquid gas units in vehicles.
Installation
The ppli nce nd its fume extr ction sh ll be inst lled in such w y s to be cces-

The appliance may only be installed by authorised personnel.
Installation and connection of the appliance must comply with the latest
technical regulations, as follows:

The appliance shall be installed in such a way that it is shielded from
excessive heat radiation.

Draught-free installation
The refrigerator must be sealed in accordance with EN 1949.
Illustr ted below re two typic l pproved methods of se ling.
Proposal 1:
Using the Installation Sealing Kit from Dometic
(SP.No. 241 2559-00, v il ble from Dometic)
Insert lipped se ls (A) into the inst ll tion recesses
t the bottom nd t e ch side.
Insert deflector pl te (B), fitted with lipped se l (A)
of he vy-duty, non- fl mm ble m teri l, into the
inst ll tion recess (see Fig. 4).
Insert deflector pl te (B) in such w y th t the hot
ir esc pes through the ir vent grille into the open
ir.
Affix the disch rge pl te to the c r v n w ll, not to
the refrigerator !
In ddition, disch rge pl te (B) with its lipped se l
(A) must se l the refriger tor off from the living re
(see FIG. 1).
Ensure th t the refriger tor is inst lled level in the
recess.
Proposal 2:
Another option is to provide the refriger tor with cowl
(A). The cowl (A) should ide lly be ffixed to the c r v n
w ll, not to the refrigerator. Insert se ling strips t the
bottom nd sides of the cover.
Fin lly, push the refriger tor into the cover from the front.
Both of these inst ll tion options f cilit te the remo-
v l nd inst ll tion of the ppli nce for servicing.
Comment:
Other methods of se ling m y be pproved. However the
chosen method must prevent dr ughts entering the living sp ce of the motorhome.
F ilure to se l correctly will llow w rm ir to collect round the refriger tor nd its
perform nce will be ffected.
If the c vity between the c r v n w ll nd the refriger tor is se led so th t fumes
c nnot penetr te the living re it is possible to vent the flue g s directly through the
upper grille without using the luminium flue pipe. For this inst ll tion method, it is
recommended th t the s me ir vent grille should be used t the top nd t the
bottom (L200), nd th t the T-piece of the flue pipe is turned 45 degrees.
