6Intendeduse
The mains priority switch is intended for distributing voltages in recreational vehicles (RV) with two
available voltage supplies.
The mains priority switch can be used according to the specified protection type after proper
installation and cable routing with suitable cable diameters and external strain relief. The device is
not suitable for outdoor use.
This product is only suitable for the intended purpose and application in accordance with these
instructions.
This manual provides information that is necessary for proper installation and/or operation of the
product. Poor installation and/or improper operating or maintenance will result in unsatisfactory
performance and a possible failure.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for any injury or damage to the product resulting from:
• Incorrect assembly or connection, including excess voltage
• Incorrect maintenance or use of spareparts other than original spare parts provided by the man-
ufacturer

struction and operation of electrical equipment and installations, and who is
familiar with the applicable regulations of the country in which the equipment
is to be installed and/or used, and has received safety training to identify and
avoid the hazards involved.

7 Technical description
If a mains voltage and voltage generated by the inverter (RV house battery) are both connected to
the device, the use of the mains voltage has priority (fig. 1, page 3). If only voltage generated by
the inverter is available, the power supply from the battery is used to provide power output from
AC-OUT2 (fig. 2, page 4). This ensures that the limited power of the battery is only used when nec-
essary.
The device has seven connections for input and output, explained below.

7.1 Output to permanent AC loads
Electrical devices such as refrigerators and battery chargers can be connected to only receive
power output from the mains voltage, via theAC1-OUT output. When no mains voltage input is avail-
able, there is no power supply for AC1-OUT (fig. 1and fig. 2, page 4).
7.2 Switch output
The switch output AC-OUT2 (5) is controlled by a 12V input signal (4). When switched on, the
AC-OUT2 (5) receives power from either the inverter AC2-IN (7) or mains from grid (AC1-IN, 1), just like
AC-OUT (6). To enable this function, connect the input switch signal to an external device with a
switch function, for example a battery monitor. See chapter “Accessories” on page 11 for recom-
mended battery monitors that include additional functions such as turning the switch on or off
depending on battery level (fig. 4, page 6).

7.3 Switching signal 12V
A 12V potential-free signal at Signal OUT (3) can be activated when there is mains from grid (AC1-IN,
1). This signal can be used to indicate the mains input for example by lighting an external lamp. For
connection, see chapter “Connect switching signal 12 V” on page 14.
The signal can be delayed by 2s, 2min, 10min or not at all, by setting the jumper position. The
default setting is 2min delay.
7.4 Combining both 12V signals
The two 12V signals (3, 4) can also be connected in series. That means that the switch output
(AC-OUT2, 5) will have power either only when there is mains from grid (AC1-IN, 1) or from inverter
(AC2-IN, 7). With a delay time, it can for example mean that an air conditioner starts 10 minutes after
mains voltage has been connected (fig. 5, page 7).
8 Installation
8.1 Choosing a location
Install the device in a clean area inside the RV where it is protected against vibrations, explosive
materials, moisture, heat, and pollution.
8.2 Installation procedure

➤Connect the cable according to the wiring diagram (fig. 6, page 8).
– Connect the cables through the existing rubber sleeves, protected outside against tensile
loads and vibration. The diameters of the cables used must correspond to the diameter of
the rubber sleeves in order to comply with the IP rating.

Before any work on the 230 VAC wiring is performed, switch off all dangerous voltage.
Ensure that no accidental switching on or plugging in of mains voltage is possible.

Never put cables for 12VDC voltage and 230VAC voltage in the same cable duct.

➤Make sure that the inverter applied is equipped with a safety isolation (galvanic isolation)
between input (battery voltage) and AC output (230VAC).
Connected cabling must have sufficient cross-section to avoid damage caused by overheating or
fire.
➤Check cables for damage after installation and secure against tensile stress with suitable
counter-measures.
8.3 Connect battery monitor
To connect a battery monitor that can activate AC-OUT2 depending on battery level as described in
chapter chapter “Switch output” on page 12, connect as follows:
1. Connect +12V to the NO terminal.
2. Connect the Switch-signal of the battery monitor to the NC terminal.
3. Use COM as input signal and connect to +12V at ON Out2 and minus to ground.
8.4 Connect switching signal 12 V
To connect a lamp that indicates mains input as described in chapter “Switching signal 12V” on
page 13, connect as follows:
➤Wire the lamp connected +12 V to the NO terminal and ground to the COM contact.

Follow prescribed standards and guidelines depending on the installation situation.
The appropriate protective device must be used. When used with a residual-current
device (RCD), Nand PE must be short-circuited at the 230V output of the inverter.

9 Operation
The device operates without any handling from the user. The device detects power input and
switches automatically as soon as a change of the input supply is detected. The monitoring auto-
matically detects whether the external 230 VAC mains voltage is available and supplies it directly
to the 230 V sockets. If the external 230VAC mains voltage is not present, the unit shifts and the
interior sockets are supplied from the inverter.
For advanced setup with switch signal, operation of AC-OUT2 depends on how the device is con-
nected and to what external devices.
10 Cleaning and maintenance
This device is maintenance-free.
➤Occasionally clean the product with a damp cloth.

manufacturer's branch in your country (see dometic.com/dealer).
For repair and warranty processing, please include the following documents when you send in the

• A copy of the receipt with purchasing date
• A reason for the claim or description of the fault
Note that self-repair or nonprofessional repair can have safety consequences and might void the
warranty.

Der Netzvorrangschalter dient zur Spannungsverteilung in Freizeitfahrzeugen mit zwei möglichen
Spannungsquellen.
Der Netzvorrangschalter kann nach ordnungsgemäßer Installation und Kabelverlegung mit geeig-
neten Kabeldurchmessern und externer Zugentlastung entsprechend der angegebenen Schutz-
art verwendet werden. Das Gerät ist nicht für den Einsatz im Außenbereich geeignet.
Dieses Produkt ist nur für den angegebenen Verwendungszweck und die Anwendung gemäß die-
ser Anleitung geeignet.
Dieses Handbuch enthält Informationen, die für die ordnungsgemäße Installation und/oder den

7 Technische Beschreibung
Wenn am Gerät eine Festnetz-Spannung und eine von einem Wechselrichter erzeugte Spannung
(Bordbatterie des Freizeitfahrzeugs) anliegt, wird vorrangig die Festnetz-Spannung genutzt
(Abb. 1, Seite 3). Wenn nur die vom Wechselrichter erzeugte Spannung verfügbar ist, wird die
Spannungsversorgung von der Batterie verwendet, um Ausgangsleistung von AC-OUT2 bereitzu-
stellen (Abb. 2, Seite 4).So wird sichergestellt, dass die begrenzte Leistung der Batterie nicht
unnötig verbraucht wird.
Das Gerät verfügt über sieben Anschlüsse für Eingang und Ausgang, die im Folgenden erläutert
werden.

7.1 Ausgang für Wechselstromdauerlasten
Elektrische Geräte wie Kühlschränke und Batterieladegeräte können so angeschlossen werden,
dass sie über den Ausgang AC1-OUT ausschließlich über Netzspannung mit Strom versorgt werden.
Wenn keine Netzspannung anliegt, wird AC1-OUT nicht mit Strom versorgt (Abb. 1und Abb. 2,
Seite 4).
