GENERAL INFORMATION
This manual has been compiled by Draper Tools and is an integrated part of the power tool equipment, which
should be kept with the machine.
This manual describes the purpose for which this tool has been designed and contains all the necessary
information to ensure its correct and safe use.We recommend that this manual is read before any operation of
the machine, before performing any kind of adjustment to the machine, and prior to any maintenance tasks. By
following all the general safety instructions contained in this manual, it will ensure both machine and operator
safety, together with longer life of the tool itself.
All photographs and drawings in this manual are supplied by Draper Tools to help illustrate the operation of the
machine.

AIR TOOL GUARANTEE
Draper air tools have been carefully tested and inspected before shipment and are
guaranteed to be free from defective materials and workmanship for 6 months from the
date of purchase except where tools are hired out when the guarantee period is ninety
days from the date of purchase.
Should the machine develop any fault, please return the complete tool to your nearest
authorized warranty repair agent or contact Draper Tools Limited, Chandler’s Ford,
Eastleigh, Hampshire, SO53 1YF. England. Telephone [phone].
If, upon inspection, it is found that the fault occurring is due to defective materials or
workmanship, repairs will be carried out free of charge. This guarantee does not apply
to normal wear and tear, nor does it cover any damage caused by misuse, careless or
unsafe handling, alterations, accident, or repairs attempted to made by any persons
other than the authorized Draper warranty repair agent.
This guarantee applies in lieu of any other guarantee expressed or implied and
variations of its terms are not authorized.
Your Draper guarantee is not effective unless you can produce upon request a dated
receipt or invoice to verify your proof of purchase within the guarantee period.
Please note that this guarantee is an additional benefit and does not affect your
statutory rights.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
FOR AIR TOOL PRODUCTS
WARNING
Please read the following instructions carefully, failure to do so could lead to serious
personal injury.
IMPORTANT
Draper Tools Limited recommends that this machine should not be modified or used for
any application other than that for which it was designed. If you are unsure of its relative
applications do not hesitate to contact us in writing and we will advise you.
1.Always wear safety goggles or glasses.
2. Always ensure machine is switched off before connecting to air supply.
3. Disconnect any machine form the air supply before changing blades or discs and
before servicing any type of machine.
4. Always keep your air tool clean and lubricated. Daily lubrication is essential to avoid
internal corrosion and possible failure.
5. Do not wear watches, rings, bracelets or loose clothing when using air tools.
6. Using only light weight coil hoses from a tool to the wall or compressor coupling . Do
not fit quick change couplings onto the machine as vibration can cause the coupling
to fail.
7. Do not overload the machine. Allow the tool to operate at it optimum speed for
maximum efficiency.
8. Do not increase the air pressure above the manufacturers recommended level, as
excessive overload can cause the machine casing to split. Also this creates excessive
wear on moving part and may cause possible failure.
9. In the interests of safety and possible damage to the machine/operator, always ensure
the machine has stopped before putting it down after use.
10. Always ensure the work piece is is firmly secures leaving both hands free to control
the machine.
11. Always ensure that accessories such as blades, discs, sockets, etc. are
rated/designed for use with the machine and are securely fastened correctly before
connecting the machine to the air supply.
12.When grinding, sanding or cutting always wear appropriate face mask or
respiratory equipment.

OPERATION & USE
AIR SUPPLY
This nailer operates at a maximum of 120PSI and should be controlled via a combined
regulator, oil and water separator such as the Draper 4222/3 unit which with proper
maintenance will ensure a constant supply of dry air and lubricating oil at all times.
See illustration below. Always check machine operating pressure before use.
Water in the compressor tank will cause serious corrosion to your air tools and should
be drained daily to avoid excessive water in your air supply. Dirty wet air rapidly
shorten the life of your air tool.
If you are using an air tool on a hose over 25ft. long, it is advisable to increase the bore
of the hose to the next larger size available, ie. 1⁄4" increases to 3⁄8". This will ensure
adequate pressure and volume of air to power the machine.
RECOMMENDED AIR SUPPLY
FITTING THE WHIP HOSE CONNECTION
To connect the nailer to an airline, a 1⁄4" BSP male whip hose will be required (Draper
Stock No.54438).Wind a length of PTFE tape (Draper Stock No.63389) around the
thread and tightly secure the hose in place for an airtight connection.

OPERATION & USE
LOADING THE MAGAZINE (Fig.2 - 4)
Note: Always disconnect the tool from the air
supply before any adjustments or
maintenance is carried out.
Pull the magazine latch ✪✌ back to the rear
of the magazine until it engages and locks in
place.
Load the nails (50-90mm) in through the rear
of the magazine at point ✫✌.Fig.3.
See Page 9 for the list of nails available.
To release, pull the latch towards the rear of
the magazine. Lift catch ✬✌ and slowly allow
the spring action to push the nails into place.

CHECKING THE SAFETY LEVER (Fig.5 & 6)
Note: The air nailer is fitted with a trigger
lock.When the magazine is empty or nearing
empty, the safety lever becomes enabled,
stopping the firing operation.
Disconnect from the air supply. Ensure the
magazine is empty and lock the magazine
latch to the rear. The safety lever ✭✌ should
move in or out without any obstruction. To
test the safety lever is working correctly,
connect the tool to the air supply.

Push the safety lever ✮✌ against a scrap
piece of wood, without pulling the trigger
✯✌. The tool must not fire. Should this
happen, the tool must be replaced
immediately. Hold the tool away from the
piece of wood and the safety lever should
return to its original position. Pull the
trigger, the tool must not fire. Should this
happen the tool must be replaced
immediately. Press the lever in against a
scrap piece of wood and pull the trigger.
The tool should fire. This is correct.
FIRING ADJUSTMENT (Fig.7)
The AN50-90 has two firing modes:
SINGLE SHOT: This allows the trigger to be
pulled once after the safety lever has been
activated. Push down catch ✰✌ and
position to the left.
BUMP SHOT: This allows the trigger to be
pulled and the nails fired by activating the
safety lever. Push down catch ✰✌ and
position to the right.
CLEARING A JAM (Fig.8)
In the unlikely event of a nail becoming
jammed, disconnect the air supply and
remove nuts ✱✌ and ✲✌ and remove the
magazine. Once access to the chamber has
been cleared, remove the obstruction and
reconnect the magazine correctly and
secure the nuts.

MAINTENANCE

be half full. Overfilling can cause drag on high
speed clutch parts, ie. a typical oiled/lubricated
wrench requires 1⁄2ounce of oil
GREASE LUBRICATED NOTE: Heat usually
indicates insufficient grease in chamber. Severe
operating conditions may require more frequent
lubrication.
Tool runs slowly. Air flows ■Motor parts jammed with dirt particles.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
Some air tools have inbuilt regulators which can be used to control speed/torque performance, on
machines without inbuilt regulators this can be done by varying the pressure of your air supply
regulator.
MAINTENANCE:
Every day, before use, remove the tool from the air line, use an oil can and pour the equivalent of a
tablespoon of suitable oil into the machine (through the air intake). Operate at low speed to
ensure lubrication of all moving parts. If machine is in constant use or is to be used for long
periods of time a combination filter/lubricator must be fitted in the system. At all times the system
must be fitted with an air filter.
Recommended oils are Shell Tellus 22, Duckhams Zircon 32 or Castrol AWS32. Do not use
normal engine oil or similar.
Please note: failure to comply with the above Maintenance/Operating Instructions could
invalidate the Guarantee.
■Check air inlet filter for blockage.
■Pour air tool lubricating oil into air inlet as per
instructions.
■Operate tool in short bursts quickly reversing
rotation back and forth where applicable.
■Repeat above as needed. If this fails return to
service centre.
■Pour air tool lubricating tool into air inlet.
■Operate tool in short bursts of forward and/or
reverse rotation where applicable.
■Tap motor housing gently with plastic mallet.
■Disconnect supply. Free motor by rotating drive
shank manually where applicable.
■If tool remains jammed return to service centre.
