Cleaningonceortwiceaseasonisusuallyadequate,
assumingthewaterhasa hardnessofupto250mg/l.
Todramaticallyreducemineralaccumulationinsidethe
evaporatingchamberusesoftenedwaterformake-up
watersource.Usingsoftenedwaterwillreducecleaning
frequencytoonceeveryseveralyearsinmostcases.
CleaningtheEvaporatingChamber
Theheatingelementitselfisselfcleaning.Themineral
builduponthe elementflakesoffafterreachinga
thicknessofabout 2 mm,and settles to thebottom of
thechamber.
Note: Beforethisscaleaccumulationbuildsuptothe
undersideoftheheatingelement,itmustberemoved.
Failuretodosomayresultinprematureheatingelement
burn-out.
ToService:
1. Shutoffelectrical power to the unit.Using the key,
unlockandremovethelargefrontpanel.Drainthe
evaporatingchamberbymanuallyopeningthe
“DRAIN”valve.Opentheleveronthevalveto
the“MANUAL”positionandlockinplace.
2. Disconnecttheconnectortubeontopofthe
evaporatingchamber,theflexiblehosefromthe
overflowpipe,andtheflexiblehosefromthedrain.
Installa rubber pluginto tank drainnipple. All
connectionsshouldberemovedontheevaporating
chamber.NOTE:DONOTDISCONNECTTHE
FLEXIBLEPOWERELECTRICALCONDUIT.
3. Disconnecttank-groundingwire.
4. Slidethe evaporating chamberoutoftheunitonthe
slidingtrack.Removethecoverofthechamber,
raise,andslideintoholdingslots.
5. Removetheevaporatingchamber,dumpoutmineral
residue.
6. Unscrewtheprobehousing,andremoveanymineral
build-upaccumulatedinthehousing.
7. Cleantheprobe-rodassembly.Scrapeoffbuild-up
onrodtips and brushwithsandpaperorsteelwool
toremovemineralresidue.
8. Replacechamberontotheslidingtrack.
9. Securethechambercovermakingsurethechamber
issealed.Pushchamberback intotheunitonthe
slidetrack.
10.Reconnectthetubeandslipcoupling,theoverflow
hose,thedrainhose,andconnecttank-grounding
wire.
11.Movedrainvalveleverbackto“AUTO”.
12.Replace the front panel and lock. Turn on the
electricpower.HUMIDI-TECHisagainreadyto
humidify.
OffSeasonShut-Down
1. Switchoffelectricalpower.
2. Shutoffwatersupplytomake-upvalve.
3. Drainevaporationchamber,andcleanifnecessary
(see“CleaningtheEvaporatingChamber”above).
4. Leavechamberdry,thepower“OFF,”andthewater
shut-offvalvecloseduntilthenexthumidification
season.
HUMIDI-TECHDI
TheHUMIDI-TECHDIunitusesDI/ROwater.Because
thesewatertypesaremineral-free,cleaningtheevapo-
ratingchambershouldnotbenecessary.However,there
aresomesimplemaintenancestepsthatshouldbe
followed to ensure all parts of the unit are in good
workingorder.
ToService:
1. Shutoffelectricpower.
2. Shutoffwatersupplytomake-upvalve.
3. Unlockandremovefrontpanel.
4. Makesuretheevaporatingchamberisdrainedby
manuallyopeningthedrainvalve.
5. Checktheconditionoftheoverflowanddrainhoses.
6. Removetheevaporatingchamberasfollows:
Disconnecttheflexibleconnectortubeontopofthe
evaporatingchamber,theflexibleoverflowhose,
andtheflexibledrainhose.Allconnectionsshould
beremovedattheevaporatingchamber.NOTE:DO
NOTDISCONNECTANYOFTHEELECTRICAL
CONDUITS.
7. Slidetheevaporatingchamberforwardonthetrack.
Removethecoverofthechamber,raiseandslide
intoholdingslots.
