Dryco Pool Cover Drain Kit User manual

Dryco Pool Cover
Drain Kit
Thank you for purchasing the Dryco Drain Kit.
Unlike conventional pool covers, it is very important that you do not lower the water level in your pool before
installing the Dryco Drain Pool Cover. The water level must be kept higher than the inlet in the side of the pool.
If you are in an area where freezing conditions might occur, you will have to winterize your skimmer basket. There are
many ways to achieve this. You will need to consult your pool store to see which way is best for you. The Dryco Drain
does not protect your skimmer basket from freezing and possibly bursting.
Leaves may fall onto the cover. Normally, since the cover stays dry, the wind will blow the leaves off. If your cover
should collect leaves, you may use your pool brush with an extension pole to remove them.
Warning:
After installing the Dryco Pool Cover Drain in your cover, please follow the
safety guidelines that come with the cover.
If the drain should collect leaves or debris, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CRAWL ON, LEAN ON OR REACH OUT OVER THE COVER TO
REMOVE IT. Use the pool brush with extension pole to remove them.
The Dryco Pool Cover drain is not intended to be used for any other
application other than installation in a pool cover.
Following these guidelines will ensure that you will enjoy the use of your Dryco Drain for many years to come.

Installation
Instructions for
Dryco Pool Cover
Drain Into Cover
Step 1: Find and mark the center
of the cover
Step 2: Position the rubber gasket on
top of the drain. The gasket has
alignment studs that fit into the drain
body
Step 3: Position the drain with
the silicone gasket under the
center of the cover.
Step 4: With the center punch,
find one of the 10 holes in the
drain body and puncture only
one hole through the cover.
Step 5: Position the rigid ring and
fiber gasket over the cover, aligning
the holes in the drain. Do not
completely tighten the screw down at
this time. This will allow the rigid ring
to pivot and line up with the other
screws.
Step 6: Align the rigid ring and
fiber gasket with the body of the
drain. Make sure that the cover
lays flat on the drain body and
gasket. Locate the screw hole on
the opposite side of the first
screw and puncture the cover for
the next screw.
Step 7: Insert the second screw.
Do not completely tighten the
screw this time.
Step 8: Keeping the cover pulled tight
over the drain, punch the remaining
holes. Insert the remaining screws.
Step 9: Once all the screws are
installed, tighten them down.

Step 10: Using a utility knife,
carefully cut the cover from
inside the reservoir and discard.
Step 11: Take the drain guard and
install it on the reservoir with the two
long stainless screws. Tighten the
screws down and then back them out a
half turn. This will allow room for
expansion in freezing conditions.
Step 12: Fold the cover back to
expose the bottom of the drain.
Take the 1” flexible pipe and
screw the end with the male
adapter into the threaded port in
the reservoir. Do not cross
thread. Teflon tape has been
installed on the threads to seal
the connection. If the hose is
removed at anytime from the
reservoir, the tape must be
reapplied.
Step 13: Do not over tighten this
connection. Make sure that the
pipe is heading down toward the
bottom of the drain like shown.

Dryco Pool Cover
Drain Kit
Important
When connecting drain hose to inlet in step 3 of the installation instructions for pool cover, it is
extremely important that the hose does not have any loops or kinks in it as shown below in
figure 1.
You must loosen the union, and twist the pipe to work the loops and kinks out. While the union
is loose let the water fill the pipe. This will allow the pipe to sink towards the bottom of the
pool. When finished the pipe should hang straight as shown in figure 2.
Be sure to tighten the union completely when done.
Failure to do this will result in a leak and pool water will drain out of the pool.

Installation Instructions for Pool Cover with Dryco
Drain on Above Ground Pools
STEP 1:
Remove the eyeball diverter from the inlet water return
STEP 2:
Separate the union that is attached to the hose and screw
it in the bulkhead. An adapter will be needed for the
bulkhead fittings other than the 1-1/2” female threads.
Assure that the o-ring is installed on the union as shown.
Tighten until o-ring is seated and sealed.
STEP 3:
Before stretching the cover over the pool, connect the
hose with the union to pool inlet. Make sure the o-ring
seal remains seated in the union. Union must have a
watertight seal to prevent loss of any pool water.
Install the cover as normal. Make sure that the drain hose is aligned with the outlet. Twisting the cover may be
required to assure proper alignment.
The hose should drop down toward the bottom of the pool. If the flexible pipe has twisted while being installed, loosen
the union to adjust. The union must be tightened completely to assure a proper seal.
