INTRODUCTION
The EcoPur S-Series system provides protection against scale formation through-
out the home. In addition to scale prevention, the system also uses a specially
formulated carbon that reduces taste and odor from your home’s raw water.
The EcoPur S-Series system can be installed at the point-of-entry to treat your
entire home, both hot and cold water, or it can be located directly before the
water heater(s) or other device (e.g. sauna, etc.) that requires protection from
hard water.
The EcoPur S-Series system reduces or eliminates scale formation on internal and
external plumbing surfaces as well as reducing spotting and streaking normally
associated with hard water.
The EcoPur S-Series system prevents scale by transforming the normal dissolved
hardness minerals into crystal micro-particles. These crystals stay suspended in
the water and have less ability to react and attach to surfaces like dissolved
hardness does. Therefore the problem of internal buildup of scale in pipes, water
heaters and on xtures and glass is greatly reduced.
The EcoPur S-Series system is not a water softener – low or phosphate-free clean-
ing products are recommended to achieve optimum results. Modern surfactant
or detergent-based, liquid soaps are preferred over old-fashioned, caustic solid
soaps.
Unlike softened water, the EcoPur S-Series system’s treated water maintains the
benecial essential mineral content of your water and is safe to drink (see page
__ for disclaimer).
BENEFITS
Chemical-free Scale Prevention. Cost savings and environmental benets:
• Virtually Maintenance Free. No salt bags or other chemicals to buy, transport
and store
• Benecial minerals retained for more healthful drinking water
• Improves the efciency of water-using appliances
• Simple installation
• Safe for landscaping and lawn watering. No need for costly bypass plumbing
• Compatible with all on-site and community wastewater treatment systems
• Not subject to water softener restrictions and “bans”
• Safe for all septic and sewer systems

SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS
The EcoPur S-Series point-of-entry system is complete and self-contained. It is
pre-loaded with media and ready to use. A simple inlet and outlet connection
is all that is required for installation. Please review operating pressures, tempera-
tures and water chemistry limitations to ensure compatibility.
Connections 1”
Temperature Range 40-110°F
Water Pressure Range 15-100 psi
pH 6.5-8.5
Ferrous Iron Maximum 0.3 mg/L
Manganese Maximum 0.05 mg/L
Copper Maximum 1.3 mg/L
Flow Rate 12 GPM
Caution: Do not use this system where the water is microbiologically unsafe or
of unknown quality. This system is for use on potable water only. Source water
exceeding the chemical parameters (listed above) requires pretreatment.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION – READ ALL
CAUTION: Read and follow the information in this manual to minimize the risk of
electric shock or personal injury.
IMPORTANT: If you are unsure about installing your EcoPur S-Series, contact the
DuPure helpline or consult a professional plumber.
IMPORTANT: This system must be installed in compliance with applicable state
and local codes, law, and regulations.
INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING:
• Before beginning installation, read these instructions completely.
Then obtain all the materials and tools needed for installation.
NOTE: Failure to install the EcoPur S-Series system correctly voids the
warranty
• Perform installation according to state and local plumbing codes
Use only lead-free solder and ux for sweat-solder connections,
as required by state and federal codes
• Handle all components of the EcoPur S-Series system with care. Do not drop,
drag or turn components upside down

5
• Be sure the oor under the EcoPur S-Series system is clean and level
• The EcoPur S-Series system uses 24 volt-60z electrical power. Always use the
transformer supplied
- Plug transformer into an indoor 120 volt, grounded outlet
- Properly ground system to conform with all codes and ordinances
• Install EcoPur S-Series system in a protected area. Be sure electrical outlet
and transformer do not come in contact with water.
- Do not attempt to treat water over 110°F with the DuPure system.
- Always connect the system to the main water supply pipe before water
heater
- Do not expose DuPure system to freezing temperatures. Water freezing in
the system causes equipment damage
• Minimize inlet water pressure is 20 psi. Maximum inlet water pressure is 125 psi.
Use pressure reducing valve if necessary
CAUTION:
• Do not use with water that is unsafe or of unknown quality
• Test water periodically to verify that the system is performing satisfactorily
• Discard small parts remaining after the installation
INSTALLATION
1. Turn off gas or electric supply
2. Turn off the water supply to pipes to be cut and drain the house water pipes
3. Open both hot and cold faucets
4. Move the EcoPur S-Series assembly into installation position (be sure the instal-
lation surface is level and smooth)
5. Plumb IN and OUT connections to and from softener
- Be sure the incoming hard water supply is directed to the INLET port of
the valve
- The valve body of the control is marked with arrows indicating the proper
ow direction
- Connections are illustrated below:

6
NOTES:
• If making a soldered copper installation, do all sweat soldering before con-
necting pipes to the bypass valve (torch heat will damage plastic parts)
• When turning threaded pipe ttings onto plastic ttings, use care not to cross-
thread
• Use Teon tape on all external pipe threads. Do not use pipe joint compound
• Support inlet and outlet plumbing in some manner (use pipe hangers) to
keep the weight off of the valve ttings
Perform steps 6-7 to install exible drain hose
Skip to step 8 to install rigid drain pipe
6. Find barbed hose tting in small parts kit. Attach barbed hose tting to the
½” male NPT drain outlet
7. Connect and route the valve drain hose
- Use the provided drain hose to attach to the valve drain tting. To keep
water pressure from blowing the hose off, use a hose clamp to secure
8. To adapt a rigid drain pipe to the EcoPur S-Series system, do not attach
barbed hose tting to valve. Instead, plumb rigid tubing directly to the
½” male NPT drain tting
9. Take the other half of the cut hose and attach it to the overow adapter
elbow located on the side of the brine tank. Use a hose clamp to hold it in
place
10. Fully open two (2) cold (soft) water faucets near the water softener
11. Place bypass valve in “bypass” position

7
12. Fully open the house main water shutoff valve; Observe a steady ow from
both faucets opened earlier
13. Slowly, turn bypass valve back in the service position; keep soft water
faucets open
14. After about 3 minutes, open a HOT water faucet for one (1) minute,
or until all air is expelled, then close
- NOTE: If water appears cloudy or has a salty taste, allow it to run
for several more minutes, or until clear
15. Close all water faucets
16. Check plumbing work for leaks and x immediately if any are found
17. Turn on the gas or electric supply to the water heater
18. Connect electrical power by plugging the transformer into a (120 volt) outlet
19. With the valve “In Service”, manually initiate a backwash as the nal
installation step. This backwash will:
- Complete the nal ushing and conditioning of the EcoPur S-Series
