Overview
The DVLab DSC928 is a cost effective HD/SD Master Control S itcher featuring six channels.
It has been designed for live productions that may need to combine a number of video sources
ith a mixed audio feed.
The DSC928 produces superb 10 bit 4:2:2 broadcast quality video signals and provides an
array of simple-to-use features:
Inputs and Outputs Embedded and Analog Audio.
Each audio source, including embedded and analog, can be associated ith any or
several video sources.
Audio follo s Video s itching operation.
Built in Frame Synchronizer for each channel;
Built in Multi-screen
Built in SD Card Video Player.

Inputs / Outputs
The mixer has 4 SDI and 2 HDMI Inputs, hich may be the HD and SD - determined by the
user settings.
You can use SD Video Anamorphic format – DSC928 has accordingly settings 4:3 or 16:9
format for inputs and outputs SD signals.
S itcher has separate frame synchronizer for each of Inputs.
Note: The HDMI inputs in the regular use is orking ith HD or SD signals 1920x1080i,
720x576i and 720x576P. Therefore, hen playing video clips from PC or other devices, this
clips must be prepared accordingly.

The SHIFT ke .
The SHIFT key is a modifier key on a Remote Control keyboard, used to expand it to the built
in ( optional) 2 Channel Video Player and Title Master soft are Control.
Preset ro s buttons has t o-level marking : The upper is: 1, 2... 6, BARS and BLACK . The
bottom is Player control. hen SHIFT is not light upper marking is in use, hen SHIFT is light –
bottom.
Program and Preset rows
The Program ro of buttons is the active channel, this is the live output. The active channel ill
appear as the Program Output (PGM). You can s itch or CUT from one video source to another
directly on the Program ro . You ill see the multi vie PGM output change as you press
different keys along this top ro of buttons.
The Preset ro is the cued channel, this channel ill appear in the Previe Multi-screen
indo . The Preset ro selection decides hich input ill be transitioned next hen using any
of the transition controls.
BARS button – color SMPTE 75% bars for use on the Program and Preset ro . The BARS
button can be accompanied ( In the OSD Menu ) ith the built audio source signal 1 kHz 0 dB,
designed to test and adjust the level of audio channels.
BLACK button – Built -in BLACK Field signal generator
PC Control button.
Press the PC Control button for placed DSC928 into PC Control mode. All DSC928
soft are can orking in this mode only. In this mode the Remote Control Console is
blocked.

Press any arro s button and the Main Menu list is displayed on the
HDMI 1 Multi-vie output.
Press the up, down, left, and right arro buttons to navigate the menu
options and to change values.
Once the chosen setting has been confirmed ith the ENTER button it is
stored ithin the s itchers non-volatile memory.
Press any button to return to the operating mode.

Six user defined ipe buttons, an A/B dissolve or MIX button, and a
FREEZE button.
All ipes can have an optional color border applied. The ipe
border idth and color are chosen ithin the menu system.
Transitions can be performed manually using the T-Bar or automatically by using the SPEED
and AUTO TAKE buttons.

PiP and TITLES
PIP Preset and PIP Pro ram.
There are four PIP keys. These are labeled Program and Preset. The
upper PIP1 and PIP2 keys relate to activating Picture In Picture
images on the Program outputs. The lo er PIP1 and PIP2 keys relate
to activating Picture In Picture images on the Multi-vie or Previe
outputs.
Video source input to a PIP:assign
Using the bottom PIP1/PVW or PIP2/PVW buttons you can assign a selected video input to the
chosen PIP video layer.
1) First press and hold do n the required PIP button on the lo er ro . The Preset ro of input
sources ill light.
2) While still holding do n the PIP button, press to select the required input from the Preset
ro .
3) The input ill flash to confirm it is selected.
This selection ill also be confirmed on the HDMI Multi-vie , ith a PiP1 or PiP2 label sho n
next to the selected input image.
TITLES Preset and TITLES Pro ram.
There are t o TITLES keys. These are labeled Program and Preset. The upper TITLES key
relate to activating Do n Stream Keying on the Program
outputs. The lo er TITLES key relate to activating Do n Stream Keying on the Multi-vie or
Previe outputs.
Assigning an input to a DSK channel for keying:
Using the lo er TITLES button you can assign a selected video input to the DSK video layer.
1. First press and hold do n the required TITLTS PVW button on the lo er ro . The Preset ro
of input sources ill light.
2. While still holding do n the TITLES button, press to select the required input from the Preset
ro .
3. The input ill flash to confirm it is selected.
This selection ill also be confirmed on the HDMI Multi-vie , ith a TITLES label sho n next to
the selected input image.
DSK Mode
The DSC928 has t o titling methods: Luma Key and Titles + a Channel selected in the OSD
menu.
Luma Key mode. You can use any video sources (HD/SD SDI, CVBS,HDMI, Still Pictures ) to
replace the black parts of this image ith the video from another source.

Titles + a-CH mode (alpha channel mode) .You can use HD/SD SDI and HDMI inputs only.
This Titles is used 2 signals , therefor 2 SDI inputs is in use.
Thus, if you choose to input 1 as titles signal, the input 2 is automatically assigned as a-
channel. If Input 2 – a-channel is Input 3 and so on. But if In 8 – a-channel is In 1.
As to HDMI - the Title Master soft are allo to use one HDMI inputs for t o signal passing
through.
The Title Masters soft are Titles can be controlled by SHIFT/ Preset ro keys:Pla /pause, >>,

LOGO 1, LOGO 2, CLOCK
The DSC928 has the ability to store seven static logos and one
dynamic logo. The logo files are transferred to the DSC928 from a
Windo s PC using the Ethernet connection and the supplied
DSCConfig soft are.
The LOGO 1 and LOGO 2 buttons are used to display pre-selected logos on the Preset and
Program outputs. When the button is active the selected logo is sho n. These logos are
selected from the s itcher’s memory and positioned using a menu option .
The user cannot display LOGO 2 and CLOCK at the same time. Instead use LOGO 1 and
CLOCK together or use LOGO 1 and LOGO 2 together.
The clock time can be synchronized ith a computer or set manually using a menu option.

Video Transition
CUT
This performs a simple immediate s itch from the current main source to the selected
sub source. The selected transition ipe or dissolve is not used.
AUTO TAKE
This performs an automated s itch from the current program source to the selected
preset source. The selected transition ipe or dissolve ill also be used. The timing of
the transition is set by the chosen in OSD Menu.
T-Bar
This performs a manually controlled transition from the current program source
to the selected preset source. The selected transition ipe or dissolve ill be
used. When the T-Bar has traveled as far as it can go the transition bet een
sources is complete. The T-Bar has indicators next to it hich light hen the
transition is complete.
The T-Bar can be operated in one of t o modes hich is chosen by a
menu option:
One Way = T-Bar operates transition in only one direction
T o Way = T-Bar operates transition in both directions

When connecting this unit to any other component, make sure that it is properly
grounded by connecting this terminal to an appropriate point. When connecting, use
the socket and be sure to use ire ith a cross-sectional area of at least 1.0 mm.

MULTI-VIEW
DSC928 Multi-vie monitoring is available via one HDMI monitor (not supplied). The all of
Video and Audio sources, including embedded audio is available to see on the Multi -vie . The
audio level indicator is presented for each of inputs, Previe and Program.
This Multi-vie is supplied from the HDMI connection on the rear panel.
You can choose 3 indo s configuration ( A, B, C) of multi-screen In the menu:

DSC928 Connections
Multi screen is connected by standard HDMI Cable
PC is connected by LAN cable (UTP RG45) Direct PC connection by Crossover. Connection via

How to connect DSC928 to the PC through Ethernet (TCP / IP)
Connecting to a PC is required in the follo ing cases:
Settings – the program "DSCConfig".
Uploading logos and Still pictures – the program "DSCConfig".
Remote Control - the program "DSC REMOTE CONTROL"
Titling – the program Title Master
Required PC settin :
The computer should be equipped ith net ork adapter ith installed TCP/IP.
Net ork adapter properties:
The computer IP address can be assigned statically or dynamically (DHCP).
As example IP address is 192.168.1.3 (sho n at the Figure belo ).

The switcher’s IP address
The s itcher’s IP address can be found and can be changed ith the program
EthernetSetup.exe, included in the DSCConfig. installation:
No need installation:
1. S itch on the DSC928.
2. Connect DSC928 (RJ45 connector) to PS via Ethernet
After you start the program the indo appear:
3. Click “ DSC928 S itcher” - “Net ork Parameters” ill open:
So in the our example PC IP address is 192.168.31.31 but DSC928 IP address is 192.168.22.1
In this case the IP address of the DSC928 must be 192.168.31.XX, here XX - is not involved
in any of the net ork number, for example 192.168.31.25. You can set it in the Net ork
parameters indo and click OK :

DSC928 Software
DSCConfig.exe - Settings, Logs loading, Still Pictures Loading, Multi-screen settings etc.
1. Install the supplied SEConfig soft are on a Computer.
2. Double click the DSCConfig icon to launch the application:
1.Press PC Control button in the MENU area of the DSC928 keyboard
2. Select Ethernet to display the Computer’s IP Address. Click the Find button to find and
display the SE-2800 S itcher’s IP Address in the drop do n list. The first three numbers in both
IP addresses should match. See belo example.
Choice IP number or set if number is kno n from our example (page 22) 192.168.31.25
Click Connect and additional function tabs ill become available at the top of the application
