Introduction
The TranScanner™3 accepts video signals from virtually all analog and digital video sources, performs
digital video signal processing/scaling and provides a digital DVI output to match the native resolution
of DLP and LCD Projectors and Plasma displays.
The TranScanner™3 accepts total of ten video inputs, 2 DVI/HDCP; 2 RGB; 2 Component; 2 S-video
2 Composite and provides source switching and controls.
The TranScanner™3 is designed to be located in the home cinema component rack near all of the
video sources while the projector or the plasma display may be mounted elsewhere for the proper
vowing.
An infrared wireless remote control with on-screen graphics selects the input video source and adjusts
all of the operating controls. The TranScanner™3 may also be controlled from the front panel or from a
RS-232 serial port.
Video and Image settings for each individual video input may be adjusted and stored separately in the
system's memory. These settings are recalled for each input when selected.
Video controls include: contrast, brightness, color, tint, and sharpness.
Two programmable 12 Volt screen trigger outputs are also provided to trigger a relay in an electric
screen, projector lift, or other relay activated device.
NOTE: The digital projector or display used with the TranScanner™3 must have a DVI-D input. In
order to display DVI/HDCP sources the Display must have a HDCP compliant DVI-D input. If the
TranScanner™3 is connected to a non HDCP compliant display and the source is HDCP, the
display will only show noise (snow). Please refer to the display’s owner’s manual to assure that
the display is HDCP compliant.

component video signals from regular DVD players (480i, 580i), progressive component video signals
from progressive DVD players (480p, 580p), and progressive or interlaced HD signals (480p, 540p,
720p, 1080i) from HD sources. The TranScanner™3 determines which type of component video
signal is applied to its input and processes it accordingly.
9. AC POWER RECEPTACLE
The AC power receptacle should be connected to a non-switched 120 VAC outlet using the power
cord provided with the TranScanner™3.

8 of 19
Installation
1. The AC power receptacle should be connected to a non-switched 120 VAC outlet using the power
cord provided with the TranScanner™3. DWIN strongly recommends that the TranScanner™3 be
connected to a high quality surge protector.
2. The DVI-D output should be connected to the matching DVI-D connector that supports HDCP on
the digital display using DWIN’s high quality DVI cables.
3. Connect all video sources using high quality interconnect cables before turning on the
TranScanner™3.
4. Do not drop the DVI connecter, because the shell can be easily deformed rending the connector
useless.
5. Do not coil, tightly bend or crimp the DVI cable, it may damage or short the wires and compromise
the shielding.
6. Do not straddle staple the DVI cable, it may puncture the cable, damaging or shorting the wires
and compromise the shielding.
7. To prevent interference, DWIN strongly recommends that the DVI cable not be run in close
proximity or tied to any AC power lines!
8. For in-wall cable installations, DWIN strongly recommends that the DVI cable be run through a
dedicated (DVI cable only) conduit that meets NEC or local electrical code requirements.
9. The POWER LED is a multi-purpose indicator:
• When the LED is DARK the AC power to the unit is turned off.
• When the LED is flashing On and Off, power is connected and the unit is in the standby mode.
• When the LED is LIT the unit is powered on.
