Dyna Lec 65032-300 User manual

1.0 Overview
The software implemented in the Analog Terminal provides the flexibility to support several application-specific
functions as well as facilitating functional variations with little or no hardware modifications. Some of the
application-specific functions are as follows:
•Capable of interfacing to either an H-319/U handset or H-320/U headset on connector J2
•Capable of interfacing to either an LS-613A/STC-1 intercom or LS-614A/STC-1 handsfree intercom on
connector J3
•Capable of supportingstandard answer mode where an audible alert indicates an incoming call and the
terminal is manually taken off hook or auto-answer mode where a short audible alert indicates an incoming call
and receive audio is automatically routed to the intercom device connected to J3
•Capable of detecting incoming audio to control the TALK or LISTEN operation state of the handsfree intercom
device connected to J3
•Capable of toggling between the handset/headset on J2 and the intercom device on J3 at any time
•Capable of detectingthe absence of receive audio for a pre-determined period of time and automatically placing
the terminal back on hook to avoid tying up phone lines
2.0 Operational Description
2.1 ON/OFF Button -Taking the unit OFF and ON hook
The 65032-300 Analog Terminal is toggled betweenon-hook and off-hook states using the ON/OFF button on the
keypad. The ACTIVE LED illuminates steady to indicate an off-hook condition. The standard 3 x 4 keypad can be
used to manually dial an extension.
2.2 REDIAL Button -Redialing
The REDIAL button on the keypad can be used to redial the last sequence of numbers dialed (number “recording”
starts when the terminal is taken off hook and is stored when the terminal is put back on hook [10 digits max]). This
button can be pressed with the terminal on hook or off hook. A “chirp” from the sonalert will sound to
acknowledge depression of the redial button.
2.3 MEM Button -Memory Storage and Recall
The MEM button on the keypad is used for both storing speed dial numbers and recalling them. To recall a speed
dial number, press (but do not hold) the MEM button. After hearing the acknowledgement chirp from the sonalert,
press the number (0 through 9) corresponding to the speed dial number to recall. A second chirp will be heard and
the number will be dialed. This function can be performed only with the terminal on hook. To store a speed dial
number, press and hold the MEM button. A chirp from the sonalert will be heard immediately upon pressing the
button and a second chirp will be heard after the button is held for 1 second. After this second chirp, the terminal
is in memory entry mode. At this point, the digits to store should be dialed one-at-a-time and each press will be
followed by a chirp. When dialing is complete, press the MEM button again (a chirp will be heard) followed by the
number (0 through 9) corresponding to the location to store the speed dial. Any existing number in the selected
location will be overwritten.

2.4 MODE Button -Changing Answering and Audio Device Modes
When the terminal is on hook, the MODE button toggles betweenstandard answer mode and auto-answer mode.
In standard answer mode, the ACTIVE LED remains unlit while the terminal is idle and incoming calls are
announced by the sonalert. Calls must be answered by manually taking the terminal off hook using the ON/OFF
button and incoming audio defaults to the device connected to J2 (handset or headset). Inauto-answer mode, the
ACTIVE LED flashes periodically and incoming calls are announcedby a ½-second burst of the sonalert. The call is
then automatically answered and incoming audio is routed to the device connected to J3 (LS-613A/STC-1 or LS-
614A/STC-1). During a call (or anytime the terminal is off hook), pressing the MODE button toggles audio between
the devices connected to J2 and J3. Upon call termination, the audio device selection is returned to J2 for standard
answer mode and J3 for auto-answer mode.
2.5 Disabling Intercom Device Operation
In some implementations, the 65032-300 Analog Terminal will be used only with a handset or headset connected to
J2 (no intercom device used). In these cases, pressing the MODE button during a call would have the undesirable
effect of routing audio to a non-existing device. In these implementations, the MODE button can be disabled by
the following keystrokes: press the MEM button, followed by the * button, followed by the MODE button. After
this sequence is entered, the MODE button will be completely disabled and pressing it will have no effect (no chirp
either) until power to the terminal is cycled.
2.6 Receive Audio Timeout
The 65032-300 Analog Terminal powers up with a 1-minute receive audio timeout enabled. The terminal
incorporates a receive audio detector which registers receive audio above a preset threshold. If no receive audio
above this threshold is detected for a period exceeding 1 minute, the terminal automatically disconnects.
This automatic disconnect can be disabled using the following keystrokes: press the MEM button, followed by the
# button, followed by the MODE button. After this sequence is entered, the receive audio timeout will be disabled
until power to the terminal is cycled.
3.0 Installation
3.1 J1 Power/Line Connector
This connector routes both DC power and the analog phone line into the terminal. The connections are as follows:
Pin A : Analog phone line tip
Pin B : Analog phone line ring
Pin C : Power Return
Pin D : Power Input (-38 to –56VDC)

3.2 J2 Ancillary Device Connector
This connector is the interface between the terminal and the ancillary device. The terminal is capable of supporting
either an H-319/U handset or an H-320/U headset. The connections are as follows:
Pin A : Microphone + input
Pin B : Microphone -input
Pin C : PTT signal (switched to the RETURN pin inside the ancillary device)
Pin D : RETURN (for both Headphone output and PTT signal)
Pin E : Headphone output
Pin H : Ancillary device cable shield
3.3 J3 Ancillary Device Connector
This connector is the interface between the terminal andan LS-613 or LS-614 Intercommunication Unit. The
terminal is capable of providing the power and supporting the signaling on either of these units. The connections
are as follows:
Pin A : Microphone + input
Pin B : Microphone -input
Pin C : PTT signal(switched to the RETURN pin inside the ancillary device)
Pin D : RETURN (for both Headphone output and PTT signal)
Pin E : Headphone output
Pin H : Ancillary device cable shield
Pin J : 10.6V Auxiliary Power
Pin K : Remote PTT signal (switched to the RETURN pin inside the terminal)
