Overview

Image-recognition-learning system EZ-CAM (Intelligent Teaching Cam)

The image-recognition-learning system, EZ-CAM enables to proceed immediate

and intensive lecture by adopting the picture image

recognition technology with retaining variety contents

material.

Teachers can collect and produce required materials for the lecture in

advance and utilize them in the class,

and as such learning data base which has been built and re-produced

consolidated lecture material

can be used repeatedly at any time simply, it is an effective system under

the any educational environment which requires mass transmission of

information.

Chapter 1 EzCam feature

1. Product contents

In the standard EzCam(EZ-200) model, EzCam hardware body (camera part, mounting

stand), storage box, users manual and installation CD are provided (Version upgrade is

available through the home page related to the function upgrade within same model)

1) Install camera onto mounting stand

Screw the mounting bolts of mounting stand clockwise into the nuts of camera bottom

2) Connection EZ Cam with computer

Setting connection driver to the USB port of computer which supports USB2.0, and

use

Chapter 2 EzCam software installation

1. EzCam software installation

Please install EzCam driver and program as following process sequency.

Install EzCam program files

Run installation file in the CD (\EzCam\setup.exe)

Pr”””e””””ss “Next” to start program installation. Click the “Finish” button when it is

displayed in the installation process, then installation is completed with creating

EzCam icon on the desktop.

2. Install EzCam driver

It is executed automatically followed by the completion EzCam program installation,

and for the user’s manual installation, the driver can be installed by executing

installation files in below directory.

(Driver location C:\Program Files\EzCam\CameraDriver\setup.exe)

3. Setting of EzCam driver

After installation of EzCam softwares and drivers, connect EzCam USB cable to the

computer USB port and complete the driver settings of connection port.

Chapter 3 EzCam software functions

1. EzCam program execution

Click the EzCam icon in desktop to execute the image-recognition-learning and

epidiascope function. Please confirm the connection with camera prior to run the

program, so that the program is executed in connection state with camera.

1) Contents of EzCam project

The existing project file directory of EzCam program is made when the program is

stalled, and afterward it can be changed by user. The management of project files is

the top directory of the basic contents management, and it is available to manage

network project or create additional project to connect with other directory(D:\) in the

connected computer.

Multi-users can manage and use learning contents simultaneously through creation

of network project folder. (ex. Create network project \\File server\3rd grade\research activity

by using school file server)

Process of folder creation is ;

Create “3rd grade” folder in the file server,

Execute EzCam in user’s computer

Click the “Create new project” icon

Assign network directory

Enter “Research Activity” for the project name of \\File server\3rd grade”

Click “Yes” to complete directory setting

The process of creating new project in the user’s computer is same as above

process for creating network project except that the creation directory is created in

user’s computer. (The management and utilization of learning contents becomes convenient

trough organizing project files.)

The new project is created when a project name is entered after assigning a directory

of new project creation.

2) Create and manage contents folders

It is the first screen after program loading, also it displays the learning contents

which had been made, and files can be open at the contents folder directory . And

user can create additional contents folder so that contents files can be stored and

managed efficiently.

Select the folder which includes contents image files and change to learning mode

by click of open button, then Image-recognition-learning can be executed.

Contents opening pop-up window is available by click icon in above menu in

learning and editing mode in order to change the location of learning contents folder.

In the installation, the default location of project contents folder is as below.

The sample material is the sample file of EzCam learning, and the recognition-

image is the contents material which is made with the image attached to this

manual.

3) The structure of EzCam program

The picture image is linked with learning material related to recognition for enabling

image-recognition-learning function, and it enables the user centric perceptible

teaching .

4) Detail function of EzCam icon tool bar

All function buttons are replaced with icons in order to execute EzCam program and to

manage and create learning contents, so that user can execute all required work in the

selected mode. Icon functions are categorized in the screen top tool bar and sub-tool

bar in the main image window, and each of their functions are as below.

Manage EzCam project folder and contents

Open contents | Selecting directory of the final recognition-image file when

learning contents is utilized.

Save | Save processed contents when the project and learning contents are

created or modified.

Print screen | Print the activated main image window

Settings | Particular functions related to camera can be modified and changed.

Record motion picture | Record 320 240/640 480 size in epidiascope mode

Rotate screen | Rotate the screen image by 180 in all mode

Screen zoom-out | Zoom out the zoomed-in screen image by step in epidiascope

mode

Auto focus | Adjust focus when the it is out of focus due to the change of

picture angle.

2. Image-recognition-learning function of EzCam pictures

Available to produce learning contents and to utilize in the lecture by using image-

recognition-learning mode, and the learning contents can be used at any time

repeatedly. And as contents sharing is available so variety communities and material

can be used between users.

1) Edit mode

It is producing mode of learning contents, and the system mode which registers

representative image, links relating contents (office document, sound, image, motion

pictures ,etc), enables user to utilize and use the recognition-learning function at any

time repeatedly.

Recognition contents (image) window

It’s the original recognized image file and converted by function of external image

converting, however it is saved and listed up as recognition-image file by capturing

the image of image view window

Click the mouse right button | Available to delete recognition-image file and change

name

Available to delete selected image file by Delete in keyboard.

(in the deletion, links of files are cleared and file which was supposed to be

imported from outside is deleted with the message of file deletion automatically.)

Window for importing external recognition-image

It creates the recognition-image file of window, and coverts existing photos and

scanned images and saves them.

When the pop-up window is popped up by click the external image button

, select the recognition-converting image individually or by mouse

dragging in order to import images simultaneously.

When same file name exists in the window in importing recognition-image from

external image, message of name change is displayed, and then re-registration is

available after correction.

Main image window of contents

This is the window to display the recognized image of window, or display the

image which is modified by user optionally. In this window the user can register and

utilize several images, playback/stop and register the sound files linked

automatically, as well as image zoom in/out /rotating/fit to entire screen functions.

The contents of bottom control window are (fix the icon tool window | convert image to

entire screen | rotate image | move image | sound file start/pause/stop | zoom in/out

image)

In the main image window, image files can be additional registered or changed by

mouse click, and in the learning mode in case of image recognition the

representative image which is modified is displayed.

Link window of lecture contents

Window to specify required source files for the lecture related to the recognized

image. It is used to designate and link files such as document, image, sound,

internet, motion picture and etc in the lecture.

Pop-up window of added learning image

Linking to 7 kinds of learning contents is available as well as the repeat playback of

same sort of contents. In the learning mode, when image is recognized the linked file

source becomes in standby mode which is available to be used immediately. Icons

by the source of linked contents are below.

Link and save the contents by click vacant link icon , it is changed with icon,

and files which had been changed and saved can be converted to other kind of

contents by click.

By click the icon in the above numbered box the

pop-up window of link addition is activated, it

selects the connection object which meets the

property of the required contents, designates the

location of learning contents, and save file. By

selecting of auto-execution mode, sound files such

as MP3 and WAV can be played automatically with

main images when the image is recognized in the

learning mode, so that efficient transfer of contents is available.

The recording dialogue box of sound file is activated through the internal microphone

when the sound recording button is selected /clicked, and the user can record

directly by designating the file directory and name and afterward by click the

recording button.

Text input window

Data related to recognition-image can be input, and font and color can be changed

by the text edit icon in the top tool bar.

Export contents

Click the contents export icon in the top tool bar to export individual contents and

entire contents in the selected folder, so that they can be used in other PC.

Choose folder or image in the pop-up window by export icon and click the export

button to export. ex. Exported folder is saved as “sample.nex” file.

Import contents

Click the contents import icon in the top tool bar to import individual contents and

entire contents in the selected folder, so that they can be used in other PC.

Select contents (**.nex) in the upper folder of the pop-up window by import

icon and click the import button to import learning contents to be able to used in

user PC. (ex. Create Sample folder under the selected folder in user PC by click

import icon to import the contents of “Sample.nex” Folder, then importing of

contents file is completed.)

Click contents opening icon , then the project file imported as above will

locates to below route directory.

2) Learning mode

The learning contents which was completed in edit mode can be utilized in contents

for lecture and play learning through image recognition. As there is no difference

between recognition objects, applications in variety area are available, it maximize

the utilization of existing contents, it lists the data automatically during the lecture

and saves waste of additional time, and as the result it is helpful in the present

educational environment which requires utilization of variety contents. Also, it is

easy to accumulate and utilize contents as the sharing of produced contents is

available.

Window to link contents

The image recognized through the viewfinder of # camera and the linked learning

contents are activated and displayed by icons in sequence.

This is the window in which the image through camera is recognized , and in here,

when it is unfocused due to the change of picture angle, the focus is adjusted by

click the auto-focus button in the top tool bar.

After image recognition, the main image which was input in the edit mode is

displayed in this window.

Image move | rotate | full screen | control sound is available by the tool bar of

bottom image.

After click image window, image zoom in/out and move is available by dragging

using mouse wheel function.

This is the window in which the description of main image is input in text , and

additional description can be input.

3. EzCam epidiascope function

High resolution epidiascope can be used in learning with functions such as image

view, image capture and saving motion picture. The resolution in epidiascope mode

is 2million pixels 1600*1200 size, and it provides fixed ratio(4:3) of image with

considering the monitor resolution for occurring no image corruption in various

monitor so that the utmost screen image can be displayed in existing projection TV

and projector.

1) Epidiascope Mode

The available functions in epidiascope mode are described based on tool bar.

Pause | Rotate | Zoom in/out | Auto focus button

in the top tool bar works its function by click its

icon as described above.

This is camera button which enables user to

adjust the color and brightness of camera. As all

setting are optimized in manufacturing, no

adjustment is recommended during the use of

EzCam.

This is motion picture record button, which

can record the present motion picture which is

being displayed by resolution of 320 240 and

640 480. The recording type is MPEG4 file

format.

The presently displaying motion image can

be captured as 1600 1200 still image by the

image-capture icon button. The saved image is

JPG file format.

4. Produce sample contents using EzCam

The process of producing the EzCam image recognition learning contents is as

below.

Chapter 4 EzCam installation and check list in case of malfunction

When the program starts, it messages “Camera may not be connected, or it’s not the

appropriate camera. Please connect the camera again” and no more execution.

- Please confirm the connection between EzCam camera and USB.

( No other camera other than EzCam can execute program.)

- Control panel System Hardware tab Device manager Imaging device

Check if EZ CAM is installed normally. If it is not installed, then please install the driver

again by the instruction in the manual chapter 2 , paragraph 3.

In the edit mode, after selecting contents link and recording , it is not recorded normally.

- Please check the connection of EzCam’s USB. Recoding is only available by internal

microphone built-in the EzCam.

- Control panel System Hardware tab Device manager Sound video and

game controller Check if USB audio device is installed normally. If it is not installed,

then please install the driver again by the instruction in the manual chapter 2,

paragraph 3.

- Even though the USB audio device is installed normally if the recording is not available,

please check the volume settings of EzCam microphone. Control panel Sound &

audio device Voice tab In the basic device of voice recordings, select USB2.0

Web Camera and then click volume button. Select proper volume in the new window of

volume adjustment, and all sound elimination shall not be checked.

Please do not modify or delete files in the contents route directory optionally.

- Modifying or Deleting file(s) from the standard contents route directory C:\program

files\EzCam\project\contents and/or the folder in which additional contents are saved

may cause trouble when contents are opened.

- Please be sure to add/modify/delete files by EzCam program.

Chapter 5 EzCam handling instruction

For preventing damage and for the safe use of EzCam camera, please follow below

instructions.

Do not use solution which contains methyl-alcohol to wipe the camera.

Wipe the camera body gently with soft cloth.

Be careful not to get particles or finger prints when you clean the camera lens.

Be careful not to wet the camera body.

Keep camera properly avoiding humid or dusty place.

Refrain to use camera under direct ray of light or near to heating source.

Use soft cloth or cotton swab for cleaning camera lens.
