Operating instructions:
The EDL model scale operates on 4 AA batteries, or a 9-volt power supply, or an optional rechargeable battery
pack. To charge the rechargeable battery pack, simply plug in the power supply. The charging indicator symbol in
the bottom right hand corner of the display will appear indicating the battery is being charged. The scale has an
automatic power off feature (which can be programmed to 120 sec., 240 sec., 360 sec., 720 sec., or off) if a battery is
used which will shut the scale off if no weighing operation is performed.
To install the battery, turn the scale over, open the battery box cover and install batteries (observing polarity), and
close the cover. If the power supply is used, plug the adapter into the connector on the side of the scale and plug the
power supply into a wall outlet.
Turn on the scale by depressing the “on/off” switch. Scale readout will show all 8’s for approximately 5 seconds
and then the zero reading. If the scale is overloaded a series of horizontal lines will be displayed. If a load is placed
on the scale platform, the weight of this load is shown on the scale display in the units in which the scale is weighing.
This load can now be “tared out” i.e. shown as zero on the scale display, by depressing the “Tare” switch. If an
additional load is then placed on the platform, the weight of this additional load can also be “tared out” by
depressing the “Tare” switch. This tare operation can now be repeated up to the capacity of the scale.
If the total load is now removed from the platform, the weight of the total load will be shown as a negative value on
the scale display. This negative value can now be removed from the display by depressing the “Tare” switch.
Depressing the “on/off” switch at any time to turn off the scale.

Other Scale Options
To enter the calibration mode, perform the following steps:
1) With the scale in the off position, press and hold both the “TARE” and “UNITS” keys, and then press the
“ON/OFF” key, the display shows “CAL”.
2) Press the “TARE” key and the display will read “CAL 0”.
3) Press the “TARE” key once, or wait a few seconds and the correct calibration weight appears and flashes
on the display (2000 grams” for the Model EDL-10).
4) Place the correct calibration weight gently on the platform. When calibration is complete, the scale will
briefly display “CAL F” and then return to the weighing mode. You may re-zero the scale by pressing the
“TARE” key.
5) If no weight is placed on the platform the scale will return to the weighing mode after 15 seconds. Note: If
“CAL E” appears, this indicates that a calibration error has occurred and the calibration process must be
repeated. “CAL E” can occur when the calibration steps are not followed in the correct order or due to the
addition of an incorrect calibration weight. “CAL E” will remain on the display until the scale is shut off using
the “ON/OFF” key and the scale will revert to the previous calibration settings. The calibration procedure must be
repeated in order to change the scale calibration settings.
Procedures for keypad units disable.
The Model EDL scale will weigh in the six following units: lb.-decimal oz., oz.-decimal oz., oz.-fractional oz.,
grams, lb.-decimal lb., & lb.-fractional oz.. You can disable some of these weighing modes by using the buttons
on the keypad. To do so the following procedure will be used:
1) With the scale in the off position, press and hold both the “TARE” and “UNITS” keys, and then press the
“ON/OFF” key, the display shows “CAL”
2) Press the “UNITS” key once and “UNIT” is shown on the display.
3) Press the “TARE” key until the unit type that you wish to disable is shown on the display.
4) Press the “UNITS” key to disable the unit displayed. The display will show “OFF” and the next weighing
mode will be displayed.

Care and use:
Remove residues from scale exterior with moist cloth, taking care that no liquid is allowed to enter the case.
Internal moisture, use under heat lamps or use near steam tables could damage or destroy the electronic circuitry.
Using the platform as a cutting surface is also not recommended as any high impact to the underlying load cells
can reduce their accuracy and functional life.
