2.1 Control panel EDR 2000
2.1.1 Description of pushbuttons and LEDs
The control panel, together with the push buttons, features 10 or 13 LEDs, a programme selector and a display with 3
digits. The options can be selected only after setting a drying cycle with the selector.
Thefunctionsofthepushbuttonsand the LEDs depend on theconfigurationcodeoftheappliance.
Time select button
Adelayed starttimeoffrom1–12hourscanbesetby pressingthisbuttonduringtheprogramme selectionphase.The
time is shown on the display. The length of the delay is increased by repeatedly pressing the button. For the first two
hours,thelengthofthedelayisincreasedin stepsofhalfanhoureachtimethebuttonis pressed.Afterthefirsttwohours,
each press of the button increases the length of the delay by an hour.
Remaining moisture button
For fine adjustment of the remaining moisture content of the washing. Changing the setting from + to +++ makes the
washingprogressivelydryer.PresstheRESTFEUCHTEbuttonrepeatedlyuntilthelampabovethedesiredremaining
moisture level is lit. When the degree of moisture is changed, the time shown on the display also changes.
"START/PAUSE" pushbutton
Start
Whena dryingprogramme hasbeen selected using the programme selector, the LEDs for the three phases (drying,
coolingand - if featured -anti-crease/end of cycle) light andthe START/PAUSELED flashes.
After selecting the desired option(s), press this bufton to start the cycle. The corresponding LED, as well as the
drying phase LED, remains lit.
Pause
lf START/PAUSE is pressed while a drying cycle is being performed, the dryer interrupts the cycle and the appliance
goes to PAUSE mode; the corresponding LED flashes. Certain options may be modified while the appliance is in
PAUSE mode.
Press START/PAUSE again to resume the cycle from the point at which it was interrupted.
"NO BUZZER" pushbutton
This option can be selected only when the dryer is in "selection" mode (set-up).
Press this button to deactivate the buzzer function. The LED lights to indicate this selection. To re- activate the
buzzer function, press the button again; the LED will switch off.
Even when the buzzer function is deactivated, the buzzer will continue to signal alarm conditions.
Anti-crinkle+ button
When this additional function is selected, the anti-crinkle phase after completion of the drying sequence is lengthened
by 60 minutes. The washing can be removed at any time during the anti-crinkle phase.
Wool and silk buttons
If the textiles are still too damp after the drying sequence with the Wool or Silk programmes, an additional drying
sequence with the Wool or Silk programme can be added by additionally setting the remaining moisture level +, ++,
or +++.
Important:donotoverdrywoolorsilk!
2.2 Programme selector
The16-positionprogrammeselector(withincorporatedON/OFFswitch)is
built into the board.
The first nine positions are common to all versions (i.e. always select the
sameprogrammes);programmes10to 14 varyaccordingtothe
configurationoftheappliance.

4.1 The principle of operation of the heat pump in the drier circuit
Thecircuitoftheheat pump oftheclothesdryercomprisesevaporation,compression,condensation,andexpansion of
thecoolingagentR134a(fillingquantity260g).
Thisisinitiallysituatedintheevaporator(3)intheliquidphase,withthetemperatureofthemoistairexitingfromthedrum
(1)beinghigherthantheboilingpointofthecoolingagent.Thiscausesheattobetransferredfromtheheatsourcetothe
coolingagent, which inturn causes thisto receive sufficientenergyto evaporate.
Thiscooling causes the moisture held in the air tocondense andto run into the collection dish (7) to bepumped offinto
thecondensedwatertank(9).
Thecompressor(2)continuouslysucksinthecoolingagentvapour,whichiscompressedbyamultipleandatthesame
timeheated.Thecompressordischargestheheatintheliquefier(4).Thisinturnheatstheairsuckedinbythefan(6)and
the now dry air which is readmitted through the drum and takes up moisture.
Thecoolingagentbecomesliquidagainanddischargessufficientpressureandtemperaturethroughthecapillarytube(5)
such that heat can again be taken up in the evaporator (3) from the moist air coming from the drum (1).
This sequence is now repeated continuously in a closed circuit.
Ifthereiswatercondensationinthecollectiondish(7),themicroswitchtriggers,activatingthecondensatepump(8),which
leadsthewatertothecontainer(9).Whenthisbecomesfull,theoverflowingwateristakenupbythetankofthecontainer
and led back into the collection dish (7)
through a hose (not shown in the dia-
gram).Thiscausesthefloatertoriseand
toreactivatethe microswitch.
The electronic controi system detects
the closure of the microswitch, cuts off
thepowertotheappliance and
switches on a LED warning the user
that the canister is full.
The tank capacity is about 4 lt., which
is sufficient for one drying cycle

5.1.1 Elektronic EDR 2000
Theelectronicmodulecontrols all of theappliance'sfunctions.
Allofthecontrolelementsfortheelectricalfunctioncomponentsare
to be found on this module.
Theelectronicsystemisresponsibleforexecutingtherunningofthe
variousprogramsandoptions.Thisiscarriedoutinconnectionwith
theevaluationofvariousinputsignals(temperature,residualmoisture,
etc.).
This electronic system is specially configured ex works for each
dryer model via the PNC. It is imperative that the corresponding
sparepartsnumberswiththespecificelectronicdataaretakenfrom
thespare partslist forthe corresponding model.
A key set on an light conductor unit serves as an optical and
mechanicalinterfacewiththeoperator.
Themovementsofthekeysaremomentarilytransmittedtothekeys
which are mounted on the electronic PCB. Corresponding LEDs
transmitlight signals to the surface of the control panel by means
of the light conductor.
AnadditionaldisplayismountedontheEDR2000intheformofan
additionaldisplayPCBwit LEDs and a 7-segmentlightconductor
headroom are mounted on the light conductor unit.

Itispossiblethatthekeyboardlayoutcandifferdependingontheequippingofthe
appliance. The key set is completely supplied with the keys as a spare part.
However,shoulditbethecasethatthekeysaretobeindividuallyconfigured,care
is to be taken with regard to the correct positions of the individual keys. Due to
theconvexcovers,theseareadaptedandcannotbeexchangedforeachother.
Thekeycapshaveanumberinsidethem(refertotheillustration),whichserves
thecorrectpositioning.Thepositionschemaisthesameforallkeysets(referto
theexamplebelow).

Drum motor – The motor assembly consists of a belt tensioner
andthesingle-phaseasynchronousmotor(3),with
anti-overheatingcircuitbreaker.
The efficiency of the motor can be checked by measuring the
resistance across the windings:

5.7 Terminal block with incorporated suppressor
The suppressor, which is incorporated in the terminal block, prevents
radiodicturbancegeneratedbythedryerfromenteringthepowerlines.
Thisdevicefunctions correctly onlyifthe appliance isgrounded.
Checkingforefficiency:
Use a tester to measure the resistance across the following terminals:
5.5 Canister filling pump
The pump is actioned by a synchronous motor with a power of about
17W.
Thefunction of the motor is to pump the condensation water from the
sump to the canister. The pump, too, is powered by a triac.
Theresistance of the stator winding is approximately750 Ohm
5.6 Process blower / fan
Thefan for transporting the air is screwedin in the rear air channel.
The fan motor is also fed through a triac.

5.9 Conductivity sensor
Theconductivitysensorusedintheseappliancescomprisesanelectroniccircuit(withinthemainelectronicsystem)and
anarrangementwhichdetectsthelevelofwashingmoisture.
Theimpedancyvalueismeasuredfromthedrum(1)itselftotheinsulateddrumribs(2).Thisimpedancevalueisinfluenced
by the amount of washing in the drawing, the type of textile and the moisture level.
Thebrush(3)hascontactwiththedrumribs.
Via an insulated abrasive belt (4) on the
drum,itmakescontactwiththedrumwhich
passes through the drum panel and which
hascontactwiththedrumribsbymeansof
clamps(5).
Thecarbonbrush(6)whichmakescontact
withthedrumshaftissituatedintheprotective
housing(7)ofthedrumshaft.Thissensoris
connected to the electronic circuit via the
appliance housing, this representing the
earthoftheelectronicappliancecircuit.The
empty drum is subjected to an infinite
impedancetotheinsulateddrumribs.This
changesifmoistwashingbetweenthedrum
and the drum ribs offers a measurable
impedance.
The impedance value amounts to
approximately1M-25Mandisconvertedin
an oscillation of between ~ 260Hz - OHz,
these being read and evaluated by the
electronic circuit (Fuzzy Logic), this
determiningthedurationandultimatelevel
ofthewashingmoistureinaccordancewith
theselectedprogram.

5.8 NTC sensor
The NTC sensor is fitted to the hot air fan duct. This sensor
consists of a resistor contained in a metallic capsule. Its
resistancedecreasesas the temperature increases.
Theelectronic circuitreads the resistance (which varies with the
temperatureinside the dryer); when this resistance fallsbelow a
certain value, the heater unit is switched off. As the air cools, the
resistanceincreases;when it reaches agivenvalue, the electronic
circuit re-connects the heater unit to the power supply. This occurs
eachtimethetemperatureinsidethedryerexceedsa given value,
which varies according to the drying cycle that has been selected.

5.10.1 Door switch
Thedoorswitchfeedstheelectronicfunctioncomponentsafterthedoorhasbeenclosedandtheprogramselectorrotated
(ON/OFFclosed).Itispositioned above the dooropeningandisclosed by means of aplungerwhenthe door is closed.

6. Electrical operation
Thecircuit diagram shows all the components of the dryerand theirconnections to the electronic board. The voltage
in the pushbutton circuits, the etectronic board, the conductimetric sensor and the NTC sensor is about 5V.
When the programme selector knob is turned, the two-pole switch (8) powers the electronic board. When the door is
opened,thedrumlight (3)(iffeatured)lights.
To start the cycle, the door microswitch (2) must be closed. When START/PAUSE is pressed, the cycle starts and
thevariousloadsarepowered.
ThemotorispoweredviaaTRIAC(TYI)whichispilotedbythemicroprocessor.Reversalof the direction of rotation (to
unroll the washing in the drum) is controlled by a relay (RL3).
For dryers with the canister in the upper section, the pump (10) is powered by a TRIAC (TY2).
When the canister and the sump are filled with water, the float moves upwards, opening the contacts of the
microswitch (9). This causes the microprocessor to interrupt the drying cycle and to warn the user by sounding the
buzzerandlightingtheCANISTER FULL pilot light.
TheNTCsensor(11)measuresthetemperatureof the air inside the appliance, whiletheconductimetricsensor(12)
determinesthedegreeofhumidityof the fabrics.
The microprocessor constantly monitors the correct operation of the components via a number of "sensing" lines: if a
fault occurs, the appliance goes to ALARM mode.
The DISPLAY, fitted to the control/display board (13) shows the maximum drying time, the alarms and the DELAYED
STARTtime.

Fluff filter inside the frame
The filter cannot be replaced by the end user and is only intended for
customerservice forreplacement. Whenthe oldfilter isremoved, itmay
becomedamaged.
7.3 Fine particle filter slot
Thefineparticlefilterinfrontoftheevaporator/liquefierunitcanbe
removedusingthehandleaftertheslotdoorisopened.
Thefilterinsertcanbewithdrawnupwards.
Afurtherfilterbelowthefineparticlefilterdrawerserves
to prevent fluff which gathers in the slot or in the
collectiondishduring thedryingsequencefromentering
thecondensedwater.
7.1 Door
To remove the door,loosen thescrews withwhich thedoor ismounted
on the hinges.
7.2 Fluff filter fitted inside door
Remove it by pulling it upwards and clean it at the end of each program.

7.5 Door switch
Removethescrew,releasetheswitchand
removeitbypullingit forwards.
7.4 Compressor fan motor
After unscrewing the attachment screw, the right slot
covercan bereleased tothe left.
The cooling fan is held in two clips and can be easily
disengaged.
The electrical connection is plugged in next to this, to
theright.
Door lock
Removethescrew,releasethedoorlockand
removeitbypullingit forwards.
Locking nose and door plunger
Removebydisengagingandreleasingit.
7.6 Drum light
Thebulb can be replaced from inside thedrum asfollows:
-Removethe cover byscrewing.
-Unscrewthe bulb fromthe bulb-holder.
- When replacing the cover, ensure that the sealing n'ng i's correctly
positioned in its seat.
N.B. Use anly bulbs supplied as original spare parts (the code is shown in the
parts list for each modet).

7.7 Work top
To remove theworktop, first removethe
screws which secure the top to the rear
edgeofthe appliance.
Slide the top towards the rear.
7.8 Control panel
Remove the container and release the screws with which the front cover is fastened to the container tank
andtothe cover holder.
Openthe door, release the frontcover fromthe housing, and turn itforwards. Unplug the cabling ofthe display
electronics. The light duct becomes accessible. The display module and the locking bolt can be released from
thecoverifrequired.
7.9 Main elektronic
Removetheoperatingpanel.
Ensure that the program selector is set to "0" (Off).
Removethegroovedpin(1) from the programselector.
Press against the locking hook (2) of the protective housing,
releasethe protective housing from theelectronic system
support.

7.10 Side panels
Afterunscrewingtherearattachment
screws(1),thecorrespondingsidewall
can be disengaged by raising it slightly,
andremoved.
7.11 Motor area / water channels
Access to the motor area and the water channels is
from the right side.
Thecondensed water ispumped upwards tothe water
receptacle(2) through thered hose (1).
If this is full, it flows over (3) and the water is led into
thefloat chamber viathe transparent hose(4).
The condition is reported to the electronics system via
a micro switch above the float. (See the next page).

7.12 Pump unit / floater switch
The water condensed in the drying sequence is collected in a water
chamber(2) in thefloor pan. Theassembly (1) withpump (3) and
floater switch (4) is screwed to this chamber.
Thecondensed water ispumped into theupper collection tank
throughtheredhose(6).
Thetransparenthose(7)leadsoverflowwaterfromtherebackintothe
lowerwaterchamber.
Both hoses are fastened with tension clamps.
Also attached in the assembly mounting are the motor condensers
(C)ofcompressoranddrummotor.
The whole mounting is screwed to the floor pan with two screws.
7.12.1 Condensate pump (3)
Thecondensate pumpis clippedinto theassembly mounting.The
electricalconnectionlugsarelocatedabove.
7.12.2 Floater microswitch (5)
The floater microswitch (5) is screwed in below the assembly
mounting.
When the assembly is reinstalled, care must be taken that the switch
springandthefloaterdonotbecometrapped.
7.12.3. Floater (8)
Thefloaterisintroducedintothefloater chamber and activatesthe
microswitch (5) as the condensed water rises.
This signal is passed to the control circuits.
