he effects of dishes
on cooking results
Dishes an tins vary in their thickness, con uctivity, colour,
etc. which affects the way they transmit heat to the foo
insi e them.
AAluminium, earthenware, oven glassware an bright
shiny utensils re uce cooking an un erneath
browning.
BEnamelle cast iron, ano ize aluminium, aluminium
with non-stick interior an coloure exterior an ark,
heavy utensils increase cooking an un erneath
browning.
Condensation and steam
When foo is heate it pro uces steam in the same way
as a boiling kettle. The oven vents allow some of this
steam to escape. However, always stand back rom
the oven when opening the oven door to allow any
buil up of steam or heat to release.
If the steam comes into contact with a cool surface on
the outsi e of the oven, e.g. a trim, it will con ense an
pro uce water roplets. This is quite normal an is not a
fault with the oven.
To prevent iscoloration, regularly wipe away
con ensation an also soilage from surfaces.
Cooling fan
The cooling fan operates uring cooking. Air is expelle
through vents between the oven oor an the control
panel, as shown in the iagram.
The cooling fan may run on after the oven is switche off
to keep the controls cool. This is quite normal.
Cookware
 Use any oven proof cookware which will withstan
temperatures of 250°C.
 Baking trays, oven ishes, etc. shoul not be place
on the oven base.
 Do not use baking trays larger than 30 cm x 35 cm (12
in x 14 in) as they will restrict the circulation of heat
an may affect performance.
Hints and Tips
Using the Oven
Always cook with the oven door closed.
 Stand clear when opening the drop down oven
door. Do not allow it to fall open - support the door
using the door handle, until it is fully open.
 The oven has four shelf levels, an is supplie with
two shelves. The shelf positions are counte from
the bottom of the oven as shown in the iagram.
It is important that these shelves are correctly

The Conventional Oven
When using this setting, heat comes from both the top
an bottom elements. This allows you to cook on a single
level an is particularly suitable for ishes which require
extra base browning such as quiches an flans.
Gratins, lasagnes an hotpots which require extra top
browning also cook well in the conventional oven.
How to use the conventional
oven
1. Turn the oven function control knob to the require
cooking function ( ).
2. Turn the thermostat control knob to the require tem-
perature.
op oven element only
This function is suitable for finishing cooke ishes, e.g.
lasagne, shepher s pie, cauliflower cheese etc.
Bottom oven element only
This function is particularly useful when blin -baking
pastry. It may also be use to finish off quiches or flans
to ensure the base pastry is cooke through.
THINGS TO NOTE
 The thermostat control light will remain on until the
correct temperature is reache . It will then cycle on
an off to show the temperature is being maintaine .
 The cooling fan will operate continually uring cooking.
It may run on after the oven is switche off to keep
the controls cool. This is quite normal.
The action of the cooling fan will epen on how long
the oven has been use an at what temperature. It
may not switch on at all at lower temperature settings
nor run on where the oven has only been use for a
short time.
The mi le shelf position allows for the best heat
istribution. To increase base browning simply lower the
shelf position. To increase top browning, raise the shelf
position.
The material an finish of the baking trays an ishes
use will affect base browning. Enamelware, ark, heavy
or non-stick utensils increase base browning, while oven
glassware, shiny aluminium or polishe steel trays reflect
the heat away an give less base browning.
Always place ishes centrally on the shelf to ensure even
browning.
Stan ishes on suitably size baking trays to prevent
spillage onto the base of the oven an make cleaning
easier.
Do not place ishes, tins or baking trays irectly on the
oven base as it becomes very hot an amage will occur.
