Double Insulation

● Your vacuum cleaner is double insulated. This means that all external parts are electrically
insulated from the mains. This is done by placing insulation barriers between the electrical and
mechanical components, making it unnecessary for the cleaner to be earthed.

BEFORE YOU START
CHECKTHEVOLTAGE
Firstcheckthevoltageshownonthedataplate(seerearview)tomakesurethatthecleanerisofthecorrect
voltageforyourelectricitysupply.Ifitisnot,donotusethecleanerbutreferbacktoyourdealer.
CONNECTINGTOYOURELECTRICITYSUPPLY
Permanently connected to the cleaner is a mains supply (2-core) cable fitted with a rewirable plug
incorporating a 3A fuse.
Intheeventofthefuserequiringreplacementthefusecovershouldberemovedusingasmallscrewdriver.Theold
fuse MUST be replaced by a 3A ASTA approved BS1362 fuse or a BSI approved fuse. The cover must
be replaced before the plug is used again. In the event of loss of the fuse cover, replacements can be
obtained from your Electrolux dealer or Electrical Retailers and must be of the same colour as indicated
by the coloured insert on the base of the plug.

Innocircumstancesmusttheplugbeusedwithoutacorrectfusecoverfitted.
Iftheplugthatisfittedtoyourapplianceisnotsuitableforyoursocketoutlet,itmustbecutoffandtheappropriate
plugfitted.
Removethefusefromthecutoffplug.
Thecutoffplugshouldthenbedisposedoftopreventthehazardofshocksincaseitshouldbepluggedintoa13
ampsocketinanotherpartofyourhome.
Thewiresinthemainscableofthisappliancearecolouredinaccordancewiththefollowingcode: Blue:Neutral.
Brown:Live.
Asthecoloursofthewiresinthemainscableofthisappliancemaynotcorrespondwiththecolouredmarkings
identifyingtheterminalsinyourplug,proceedasfollows:
ThewirewhichiscolouredbluemustbeconnectedtotheterminalwhichismarkedwiththeletterNorcolouredblack.
ThewirewhichiscolouredbrownmustbeconnectedtotheterminalwhichismarkedwiththeletterLor
colouredred.
Ifusingathree-pinplug,donotmakeanyconnectiontotheterminalmarkedwiththeletterEorbytheearthsymbol
orcolouredgreenorgreen-and-yellow.Thiscleanerisdoubleinsulatedandnoearthconnectionisnecessary.
Itisinyourinteresttoensurethattheplugiscorrectlyattachedtothemainscable.Incaseofdoubt,haveitdone
byaqualifiedelectrician,asElectroluxcannotregardtherepairoffaultsontheplugconnectionasaservicethat
canbegivenfreeofchargeunderthetermsoftheguarantee.
WARNING
Thecleaningheadcancausedamagetothemainssupplycableifthecleanerpassesoveritduringcleaning
operations.
Careshouldbetakentoensurethatthisdoesnothappen.Ifthecleaningheadhasaccidentallypassedoverthemains
supplycablethefollowingactionshouldbetaken:
1. Switchoffandremovetheplugfromthesocketoutlet.
2. Examinethemainssupplycablefordamage(onlyafterremovingtheplugfromthesocketoutlet).
3. IfthereisanysignofdamagetothesupplycableitMUSTberenewed.TherepairMUSTbecarriedoutbyElectrolux
ServiceStafforasimilarqualifiedperson.
4. NEVERusethemachinewithadamagedmainssupplycable.
Proprietarycarpetconditioningandairfresheningmaterials
Afterusingproprietarycarpetconditioningpowders,itisrecommendedthatthefilterbechanged.Someofthese
preparationscontainsubstanceswhichifleftinthevacuumcleanerforextendedperiodscoulddamagetheplastic
mouldingswhichformthestructureofthecleaner.
Manyairfresheners,householddeodorants,spraysandpolishescontainahighlyflammablegaspropellant.
Becauseofthis,itisparticularlyimportantthattheseproductsareusedstrictlyinaccordancewiththerelevant
manufacturer’sinstructions.
Itisessentialthatnoneoftheaboveproductsaresprayeddirectlyintothevacuumcleaneroritsfilter.

SERVICE CHECKLIST
•If your cleaner will not operate, check the plug connection, plug fuse and mains fuse.
•Never allow thefiltertobecomesocloggedthatitimpedes the air-flow, thus reducing
the cleaning efficiency of the machine.The character of household dust and its effect
on the air-flow through the machine may vary considerably. Fluffy dust allows air to
pass through readily whereas fine powdery dust or proprietary cleaning powders,
packtightly in thefilter,offering greater resistance toair-flowandwill reduce cleaning
efficiency if the filter becomes overloaded. Always ensure that you have a spare
genuine Electrolux filter.
•Always store your cleaner and spare filters in a dry place.
•Renew the filter three or four times a year. This is essential to ensure continued high
filtration of dust particles.
•Never pick up hot cinders or lighted cigarette ends.
•Make certain that your cleaner does not come into contact with water or any
other liquid. It is not designed as a wet pick up cleaner, and must never be
used on damp carpets or wet floors.
Important - in the event of the mains supply cable of this vacuum cleaner requiring
replacement, we recommend that this be carried out by a Electrolux Service Agent.

HOW TO USE
Use this lightweight vacuum cleaner for quick and easy cleaning. Move the nozzle over
any floor covering to quickly clean dirt, lint or threads.

Power Switch
1. If nozzle is attached, pull out from dust cup to remove.
2. Press down on the telescoping handle release button and push the handle firmly
down into the cleaner. It will lock into place.

HOW TO MAINTAIN
The instructions in this booklet serve as a guide to routine maintenance.To keep the
cleaner operating at top efficiency empty the dust cup and clean the filter after each use.

2. Pushdownon the topof the dust cup latch.
2. Pull dust cup from handle section and lift
from the nozzle.
3. Grasp the edge of dust cup filter and pull
out to remove.
Clean motor filter (refer to
dust cup filter section).
4. Shake contents of dust cup into waste
container.
5. Replace dust cup filter.
6. Fit dust cup and motor unit back together
and push firmly until latch clicks into place.

1. Separate dust cup from motor unit.
2. Pull dust cup filter out of dust cup.
3. Shake and brush the dust and dirt from filter.
4. Ifdesired,launder the filterbyhand in warmwaterusing
a mild detergent.
5. Air dry thoroughly before returning to use.
6. Replace dust cup filter in dust cup. Fit dust cup and
motorunitbacktogetherandpushfirmlyuntillatchclicks
into place.

soap solution, then thoroughly dried. Never use any type of chemical as chemicals can
