INTRODUCTION
Dear Photographer,
Thank you for buying the ELB 1200 Head for the ELB 1200 power pack.
All ELINCHROM products are manufactured using the most advanced technology. Carefully
selected components are used to ensure the highest quality and the equipment is submitted
to many controls both during and after manufacture. All ash units are manufactured for the
studio and location use of professional photographers. We trust that it will give you many
years of reliable service.
Please read the instructions carefully, before use, for your safety and to obtain maximum
benet from many features.
This unit embodies the very latest technology and is manufactured in Switzerland, by
ELINCHROM LTD, complying with all Swiss and E.C. relevant norms.

ELB 1200 HEAD CHARACTERISTICS
THE ELB 1200 HEADS OFFER THE FOLLOWING FEATURES:
• New robust aluminum housing with ergonomic carrying and positioning handle.
• Ultra-bright daylight LED modelling lamp for video and stills photography.
• The cooling fan can be silent, when used in video mode.
• Programmable 50 W (equivalent to 250 W Halogen / 4000 Lumens) daylight 92 CRI LED
modelling lamp with timer and on, free, prop, and VFC options.
• New ultra-strong metal tilt-head with extra 7 and 8 mm umbrella tting.
• New centered umbrella tube for 7 and 8 mm umbrella shafts.
• 4 m heavy duty ash cable.

BEFORE YOU START
The ELB 1200 and the ELB 1200 heads are portable units, which will be frequently used “on
location”. Please be aware of the danger, or inconvenience, which it may represent to others
for example children.
• Ensure that the power pack is switched OFF.
• Connect the ash cable with the security locking ring to the power pack.
• Adapt the reectors or accessories, which are required for the shooting.
• Only correctly tted ash cable connections are secured against moister and dust.
• Power pack outlets not in use must be protected with the security covers.
• Check all connections again; the cable must be locked with the security ring and then
switch on the unit.
Please read the ELB 1200 power pack manual.
• Always switch off the unit before connecting or disconnecting heads.
• Always switch off the unit before connecting accessories and reectors.
• Ambient temperature when the unit is in use: -20° C (-4° F) up to 40° C (104° F).
USER SAFETY INFORMATION
• Because a portable ashhead is frequently used “on location” please be aware of the
danger, or inconvenience, which it may represent to others for example children.
• Keep ash units out of reach of unauthorised persons whenever possible.
• Do not use in restricted areas (like hospitals, always ask permission before).
• Do not use near ammable / explosive material.
• Always switch off the unit before connecting or disconnecting heads.
• Flashtubes and the LED-reector dishes may become very hot during and after use!
• Do not touch the LED; this might cause damages.
• Never touch a ashtube or exchange it before the unit has cooled down and is
disconnected from the battery.
• Do not re ashes from short distances when directed towards a person.
• Minimum distance for persons: 30 cm, for animals 1 – 2 m.
