5 Upkeep of the Machine
The device should be cleaned once a week. In order to allow for
a simple cleaning of the device, the shrouding cover over the
polishing area can be removed. To that end, the captivated
screw, located in the upper left area of the cover, must be
loosened. The shrouding cover can now be tipped back or, by
pushing it to the left, it can be removed from the hinges. Before
removal of the hood, the plug of the lamp must be
disconnected. The device and the interior of the shrouding
cover can now easily be cleaned with a soft cloth. When it is
heavily soiled, a mild cleaning agent can be used. To
reassemble the device, the shrouding cover is placed upon the
device and tightened down with the captivated screw. Once the
shrouding cover is remounted, the lamp must be re-connected
with the aid of the plug.
If the output of the extractor decreases markedly, the filter mat
must be changed. The filter is to be found in the filter drawer on
the front right-hand side of the machine. To change the filter
mat, the two screws are each turned a quarter rotation to the
left and the filter drawer is pulled forward out of the machine.
The old filter should be removed and the new filter inserted with
the printed side down. By emptying the gauze filter that is
located under the polishing wheel, gross detritus such as brush
hairs, etc., can be removed.
Filter met information: the filter mat in use is a fine filter and is
extremely well suited to screen out dust arising from the
polishing process. The surface is adhesive with a degree of
separation of 97% in accordance with DIN 24 185.
This filter mat is not washable. If filters capable of being washed
out are desired, they are available on request. These filter mats
belong to the coarse filter category with a filtration efficiency of
94% according to DIN 24 185. Disadvantage: fine dust particles
are not filtered out.
The saturated filter mat can be washed out using a soap
solution. The filter mat is laid in a large container e. g. a tank
and is washed out in a soap solution consisting of water at 40-
50° C with a washing agent added. DO NOT WRING OUT!
Then rinse the filter mat thoroughly with running water and
shake it thoroughly to get rid of the water.
When the polishing wheel is being changed, the equipment
should be switched off and the plug removed.
Remove machine’s plug from mains - Unscrew lamp protection,
(Plexiglas) - remove defective tubular lamp from socket and
replace it by a new one. Screw on lamp protection.
The polishing engine does not require any attendance.
