Listening To Your iPod®
IMPORTANT: To avoid any unwanted distortion when listening to your iPod®
through the speaker of this system we recommend that you shut off the
equalizer in the iPod®before inserting it in the docking station of this system.
To shut off the iPod®equalizer, go to the “Main Menu” in your iPod®, scroll to
the “Settings” menu, select the “EQ” setting and turn the EQ ‘Off’.
IMPORTANT iPod®ADAPTER INFORMATION
The docking station in this system follows theApple “Universal Well” design. This
means that the adapter that was included with the 5G (5th generation) 30GB and
60GB iPod®with video capability, will fit into the docking well of this system.
This system is supplied with 6 different inserts that can be fitted in the docking
station. One insert serves only as a cover for the docking area to keep the connector
free from dust when no iPod®will be connected for long periods of time.
If you take youriPod®on a two-week vacation, place this “Dust cover” in the docking
area until you return and use the system again.
The other 5 inserts are designed for use with any 3rd generation (3G) or 4th
generation (4G) dockable iPod®model, available as of January 2006, including
the iPod®mini and the iPod®nano.
1.) If you have not already done so, remove the “Dust cover” from the top cabinet.
iR30_5_101206.p65 13/10/2006, 13:449

10
2.) Mount the iPod®Support Bracket on the docking station as shown.
This bracket provides support and prevents your iPod®from moving too far
backward when you operate the iPod®controls.
CAUTION: You must use this support bracket with all iPod®models to
prevent possible damage to the iPod®connector.
3.) Select the proper adapter for your specific iPod®model from among the 5
adapters included (refer to the chart) and place the adapter into the docking
station as shown.
If you are using a 5G iPod®with video capability you must insert the adapter
that was supplied with your iPod®into the docking station.
.............

4.) Set the HOLD switch on your iPod®to the ‘Off’ position to unlock the iPod®
click-wheel controls.
5.) Place your iPod®into the adapter in the docking station and make sure that
the iPod®connector is fully inserted into the socket on the bottom of the
iPod®.
If the iPod®is not fully connected the sound may be intermittent or you may
hear no sound at all.
6.) Turn the ON/OFF-VOLUME control clockwise to turn the unit ‘On’. The
POWER ‘On’ LED indicator comes on.
7.) Set the Band/Function selector to the AUX/iPod position. Your iPod®should

12
iPod®Battery Charging System

iR30_5_101206.p65 13/10/2006, 13:4413

14
Headphone (PHONES) Jack
This unit includes a 3.5mm PHONES (headphone) jack on the back panel. This
allows you to connect a set of stereo headphones (not included) for private listening
without disturbing others. When headphones are connected the built-in speaker is
automatically disconnected.
NOTE: This unit is a mono radio. When you connect stereo headphones to
the PHONES jack you will hear sound from both the left and right speakers in
your headphones, but the sound will be in mono, NOT stereo.
IMPORTANT!
When using stereo headphones always set the volume control to a low level
before you put on the headphones. Then put on the headphones and gradually
adjust the volume control to the desired level.
Remember that prolonged listening with headphones or ear buds at high volume
levels may eventually cause hearing loss.
