ASSEMBLY
Changing the battery
Use only alkaline batteries. Do not use zinc-carbon
batteries. If the laser will not be used for a long time, remove
the batteries as a protection against corrosion.
Change the batteries when the low battery indicatior ashes.
To change the batteries:
1. Lift the latch to open the battery door.
2. Insert 4 AA batteries according to the +/- polarity
marked in the compartment.
3. Install the battery door securely.
Low battery indication
To indicate low battery (about 30 minutes of battery life
remaining), the laser lines ash:
■In ON mode - 3 times every 4 seconds
■In ON mode- 3 times every 8 seconds
The low battery indicator ashes continue until the batteries
are removed and replaced.
During self-leveling, the out-of-level indicator (ashes 3
times per second) overrides the low battery indictor.
*Battery life may vary by brand and age. Replace the
batteries as soon as possible.
OPERATION
WARNING! To reduce the temporary eects on the
vision, do not look directly into the laser when it is on.
CAUTION! The use of controls, adjustments, or
performance of procedures other than those specied in this
manual may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
NOTE: Perform the accuracy eld check procedure
immediately upon unboxing each new product and before
exposure to the jobsite conditions. See “Accuracy Field
Check” section for information.
Turning the product on/o
To turn on the laser and unlock the pendulum, slide the
switch to the desired position. Two perpendicular lines will
immediately be emitted from the apertures.
WARNING! Do not look directly into the laser
apertures.
ON The laser turns on and unlocks the
pendulum to enable self-leveling.
ON The laser turns on but does not unlock the
pendulum (self-leveling is disabled). The
laser lines ash once every 8 seconds to
indicate that the projected lines are not
level or plumb.
NOTE: The ON mode disables self-
leveling and therefore is not intended for
projecting a level or plumb line.
OFF The laser turns o and locks the pendulum.
When not in use, turn o the product and
store it in the protective carrying case.
Using the product
1. For best results, place the product on a work surface
that is:
●sturdy
●level (within 4 degrees of true level)
●free of vibrations
2. Turn on the product.
3. In ON mode, the product will self-level when
placed on surfaces within 4 degrees of true level.
4. The product is ready once the emitted lines are
continuous and no longer moving on the work surface.
5. If the product cannot achieve a level state (i.e., the
work surface is > 4 degrees o true level), the laser
points ash rapidly (3 ashes per second). Relocate or
adjust the work surface.

4
Troubleshooting
If the product does not turn on:
■Ensure that the batteries are inserted correctly according
to the +/- polarity marked in the compartment.
■Replace batteries that may be at the end of its life.
■Ensure that the product’s internal temperature is within
the specified operating ranges. If the product is stored
in excessive heat or cold, allow at least 2 hours to

If problem persists, please contact EMPIRE customer
service for support.
ACCURACY FIELD CHECK
NOTE: Perform the accuracy field check procedure
immediately upon unboxing each new product
and before exposure to the jobsite conditions. See
“Accuracy Field Check” for information. Should any
deviation from the listed product accuracy be found, contact
EMPIRE customer service. Failure to do so could result in
rejection of the warranty claim.
Inuences on accuracy
Ambient temperature gradients can impact laser accuracy.
For accurate and repeatable results, perform the following
procedure with the laser elevated o the ground and placed
in the centre of the working area.
Abusive treatment of the product, such as excessive impacts
from drop, can also lead to deviations in product accuracy.
Therefore, it is recommended to conduct the eld check
procedure after any impact or before completing any critical
jobs.
Checking the horizontal height accuracy
A free measuring distance of approximately 20.12 m on
a rm surface between two walls or structures A and B is
required for this check.
Mount the product to a commercially available tripod for
easy adjustment.
1. Securely mount the product within 0.30 m of wall A.
A B
20.12 m
0.30 m
2. Turn the product to ON mode.
3. Direct the front laser beam against the nearest wall A
and allow it to self-level. Mark the centre of the laser
cross on the wall (point I).
4. Rotate the product 180° without changing the height,
allow it to self-level, and mark the centre of the laser
cross on the opposite wall B (point II).
A180° B
5. Move the product within 0.30 m of wall B. Turn the
product to ON mode and align the laser cross in the
general direction of point II on wall B.
0.30 m
A B
6. Adjust the height of the product (using the tripod or
by adding shims, if required) to align the laser cross
directly onto point II on wall B. Allow the product to
self-level.
7. Rotate the product 180° without changing the height,
allow it to self-level, and mark the centre of the laser
cross on wall A (point III). Point III should be aligned as
vertically above or below point I on wall A as possible.
B
d
A180°
8. The distance between points I and III on wall A is the
height deviation (d) of the product. This distance should
not exceed 6.35 mm (max) at 10.06 m (25.40 mm at
40.24 m). For the measuring distance of 2 x 20.12 m =
40.24 m, the maximum allowable deviation (d) is: 40.24
m x ±6.35 mm ÷ 10.06 m = ±25.40 mm.

5
Checking the horizontal leveling accuracy
A free measuring space of approximately 10.06 m x 10.06
m on a rm surface between two walls or structures A and B
is required for the check.
Mount the product to a commercially available tripod for
easy adjustment. Securely mount the product on one side
of the room and centred between walls A and B. Direct the
laser lines toward the other side of the room such that the
horizontal line appears on both walls A and B. Allow the
product to self-level.
1. At a distance of 5.03 m from the laser, mark the centre
of the horizontal line on Wall A (Point I). Do the same
on Wall B (Point II).
A
10.06 m
B
5.03 m
2. Move the laser 10.06 m toward the opposite wall and
rotate the laser 180°. Allow the product to self-level.
3. Adjust the height of the product (using the tripod or
by adding shims, if required) such that the centre of
the horizontal line is projected exactly against the
previously marked point II on wall B. Ensure that the
product is self-leveled after alignment.
4. Mark the centre of the horizontal line on wall A (point
III). Make sure that point III is aligned as vertical as
possible above or below point I.
5. The distance d between marked points I and III on wall
A indicates the actual deviation (d) of the product.
A
B
10.06 m
5.03 m
d
6. For the measuring distance of 2 x 10.06 m = 20.12
m, the maximum allowable deviation (d) is: 20.12 m x
±6.35 mm ÷ 10.06 m = ±12.70 mm. Thus, the dierence
d between points I and III should not exceed 12.70 mm
(max) at 20.12 m.
Checking the vertical leveling accuracy
A door opening with approximately 2.44 m of space on each
side of the opening is required for this check.
1. Securely mount the product 2.44 m from one side of
the door opening.
2. Turn the product to ON mode.
3. Position the product with the laser cross towards the
door opening. Allow the product to self-level.
4. Mark the centre of the vertical laser line on the oor in
the middle of the door opening (point I), at a distance
of 2.44 m beyond the door opening (point II), and at the
upper edge of the door opening (point III).
2.44 m 2.44 m
2.15 m
5. Move the product directly behind point II on the other
side of the door. Align the vertical laser line so that the
centre is directly aligned with points I and II.
6. Mark the centre of the vertical line at the upper edge of
the door opening (point IV).
7. Measure the height of the door opening.
8. The distance between points III and IV on the upper
door opening is the vertical deviation (d) of the product.
d

6
9. The maximum vertical deviation (d) is: dmax = 2 X H
(door opening) x ±6.35 mm ÷ 10.06 m
Example: for a door opening height of 2.15 m, the
maximum permitted deviation (d) is: dmax = 2 x 2.15 m
x ±6.35 mm ÷ 10.06 m = ±2.71 mm.
Therefore, the measurement between points III and IV
on the upper door opening should not exceed 2.71 mm
in a 2.15 m doorway.
