2. Setting the time and date (tInE)
N.B. Please note, when first powered or in the event of a
power loss the time will be flashing and the time and date
will need to be set. Follow steps 2-6 to set the time on first
setup. Changes between summer and winter time are handled
automatically by the unit.
1. Press and hold until the display shows tInE then press .
2. Turn the dial to adjust the hour then press .
3. Turn the dial to adjust the minute then press .
4. Turn the dial to adjust to the current day then press .
5. Turn the dial to adjust to the current month then press .
6. Turn the dial to adjust to the current year then press .
7. Press to return to previous menu or wait for 1 minute to
automatically return to homescreen.

3. Operation modes
Operation Modes: AUTO , MAN , OFF .
Press and hold in home screen to change operation mode.
3.1 AUTO
In Auto mode, the thermostat will work as per the user’s
programming setting. See section 6 for details.
3.2 MAN
Permanent manual override of set temperature.
1. In Home screen, turn the dial to adjust temperature.
2. The display will be flashing the set temperature.
3. After 3 seconds, the display will return to the
home screen.
3.3 OFF
Turn the heating off permanently.
1. In Home screen, press and hold to select OFF .

4. Extra operation modes
4.1 Boost
Temporary override of set temperature.
1. When in AUTO or OFF mode, in the home screen,
press to make display show bOSt.
2. Press to select bOSt.
3. Turn the dial to select the number of hours, press
to confirm.
4. Turn the dial to adjust set temperature, press
to confirm and return to the home screen.
The display will alternate between: bOSt - Hours(Boost) -
bOSt - Current cylinder temperature.
Press in the home screen to exit Boost mode and return
to previous mode.
Boost mode hours setting range: 1-6 hours. Default: 2 hours.
Set temperature range: 25°C-65°C. Default: 55°C.
N.B: The hours (Boost) will numerically countdown. Once the
countdown has finished normal operation will resume.

4.2 Advance (ADV)
The Advance function allows the user to move to the next
ON/OFF programme for a “one off” event, without having to
change the programme or use the Manual mode.
1. When in AUTO mode, in the home screen, press to
select ADV. This will turn ON the heat, if it is in an OFF
period, or it will turn OFF the heat if it is in an
ON period.
2. It will stay in this state until either the button is
pressed again, or until a programmed ON/OFF period
commences.
The display will alternate between: ADV and current cylinder
temperature.
Press to exit ADV mode and return to AUTO mode schedule.
4.3 Holiday mode (HOLI)
1. In home screen, press and hold and at the same
time to make the display show HOLI.
2. Press to select HOLI.
3. Turn the dial to select the number of days, press to
confirm.
4. Turn the dial to adjust set temperature, press to
confirm and return to the home screen.
The display will alternate between: HOLI-Days(Holiday)-HOLI-
Current room temperature.
To adjust the settings in Holiday mode, turn the dial to adjust
holiday days, press to confirm. Then turn the dial to adjust
set temperature, press to confirm and return to the home
screen.

Press in the home screen to exit Holiday mode and return to
previous mode.
Holiday mode days setting range: 1-99 days. Default: 1 day.
Set temperature range: 25°C-65°C. Default: 25°C.
N.B: The Days (Holiday) will numerically countdown. Once the
countdown has finished normal operation will resume. It
may be advisable to set the Holiday mode 1 day less, so
the cylinder is back up to temperature for your return.

In the home screen, press and hold until the displays shows
tInE then release to enter main menu. Use the dial to choose
between TIME, HYST, TEMP, STER, PROG, LIGH, RF, NOP,
LOC, SMAR and RESE. Press to enter desired setting. Press
to return to Home screen.
5.1 Time and date (tInE)
Please see section 2 for details.
5.2 Set Temperature (tEnP)
Define the set temperature for the programs when operation
mode is set to AUTO .
1. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows tEnP then press .
2. Use the dial to select the set temperature value in °C, then
press to confirm and return to previous menu.
Set temperature range: 25.0 – 65.0°C. Default value 55.0°C
5.3 Number of programs (NOP)
The unit lets the number of programs to be set at 2 or 3 heat
cycles during the day.
1. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows NOP then press .
2. Use the dial to select 2or 3then press to confirm and
return to previous menu.
5.4 Program (PrOG)
See section 6 for details.

5.5 Hysteresis (HYSt)
This function allows the hysteresis to be set, the thermostat will
keep the temperature between set temperature +/- hysteresis
value.
1. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows HYSt then press .
2. Use the dial to select the hysteresis value in °C to be
copied then press to confirm and return to
previous menu.
Set hysteresis temperature range: 2.0 – 15.0°C.
Default value 2.0°C
5.6 Sterilise (StEr)
The unit is provided with a sterilise function which allows for
the water temperature in the cylinder to be raised to a defined
value to help prevent bacteria growth, if selected this program
will run automatically from time to time. Default value is OFF.
1. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows StEr then press .
2. Use the dial to select ON or OFF then press to
confirm.
3. If OFF has been selected, this function will be disabled
and the unit will return to the previous menu.
4. If ON has been selected, the unit will ask how often it
should run the sterilise function, once every (1-7) days.
5. Use the dial to select the desired frequency to run this
function then press to confirm.
6. Turn the dial to adjust the starting time (10 minutes
increments). Then press to confirm and return to
previous menu.

5.7 Display illumination (LIGH)
The unit allows for the display to be always ON or to enter
energy saving mode, which will power OFF the display after
being inactive for a few seconds.
1. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows LIGH then press .
2. Use the dial to select ON or OFF then press to confirm
and return to previous menu.
5.8 RF pairing (rF)
This function is only available in the ESCTP5-RF.
The ESCTP5-RF model can communicate wirelessly with
some ESi Controls room thermostats or receivers, which can
potentially grant access and control of the cylinder thermostat
via the ESi Controls Centro APP.
1. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows rF then press .
2. The display will be flashing COMM, this means it has
entered pairing mode.
3. Make sure the other device being paired is also in pairing
mode.
4. Once the rF has successfully paired with the other device,
it will return to the home screen.
Press to cancel and return to previous menu.
5.9 Wi-Fi pairing (WIFI)
This function is only available in the ESCTP5-W.
The ESCTP5-W model can communicate wirelessly with the ESi
Controls Centro APP, using your domestic Wi-Fi, which allows
access and control of the cylinder thermostat through the APP.

5. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows WIFI then press .
6. The display will be showing ---- and the Wi-Fi symbol will
be flashing, this means it has entered pairing mode.
7. Make sure to select “+ Add New Device” in the APP so
it is also in pairing mode and looking for a “Hot Water”
device.
8. Once the Wi-Fi has successfully paired with the APP, it will
return to the home screen.
Press to cancel and return to previous menu.
5.10 Lock (LOC)
The unit allows the user to lock the thermostat to the set
parameters.
1. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows LOC then press .
2. Use the dial to set a PIN code then press to confirm
each digit.
3. Use the dial to select the set temperature then
press to confirm and return to the home screen.
To remove the lock, in the home screen press or , for the
display to show 0000.
Use the dial to enter the PIN code then press to confirm
each digit.
Once the correct PIN has been entered press to unlock and
return to the home screen.

5.11 Firmware version (vErS)
This function will show the firmware version installed in the unit.
1. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows vErS then press .
2. The display will show the firmware version.
Press to return to previous menu.
5.12 Factory reset (RESE)
This function will reset all the parameters to the factory default.
3. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows RESE then press .
4. The display will show ----, press to confirm reset.
5. Once confirmed the unit will load the default parameters,
while the display shows LOAD, when complete it will
return to home screen.

6.1 Factory pre-set programme
This unit has been designed to be a simple to use thermostat,
requiring minimal user intervention with a pre-programmed
heating profile. The pre-set heating times and temperatures will
suit most people (See table below). Operation setting range:
5/2 day, 7 day, 24 Hour. Default: 5/2 Day. Events setting range:
2 events or 3 events. Default: 2 events.

The programs will control the cylinder temperature, based on
the defined set temperature, see section 5.2 for more details.
6.1.2 Program settings: 7 Day
In 7 day setting, the unit allows for a different setting for each
day of the week, the pre-set settings are the same as the 5/2
Day programme.
6.1.3 Program settings: 24 Hours
In 24hr setting, the program will be the same for all days. the
pre-set settings are the same as the weekdays of the 5/2 Day
programme.

6.2 Setting the Operation Mode
(5/2 day, 7 day, 24hr) (ProG)
1. Press and hold until the display shows tInE. Turn the
dial until display shows PrOG then press .
2. Use the dial to select between 5-2d, 7 day or 24hr
operation then press to confirm.
3. To set the programme (See section 6.3 for details) or
press to return to previous menu or wait for 1 minute
to automatically return to home screen.
6.3 Setting the Programme (ProG)
6.3.1 5/2 Day
1. Choose 5-2 day operation (See section 6.2 for details).
Then press .
2. Turn the dial to select the days to programme, either
1-5 for weekdays or 6-7 for weekends then press
to confirm.
3. Turn the dial to choose the program (P1-P3). Then
press to confirm and enter time setting.
4. Turn the dial to adjust the starting time (10 minutes
increments). Then press to confirm.
5. Turn the dial to adjust the ending time (10 minutes
increments). Then press to confirm and enter the
next program (P2-P3).
6. Repeat the steps 4-5. To set P2 and P3 programs.
7. Press to go back until the display shows 1-5. Turn
the dial until display shows 6-7 then press to set
the program for the weekends.

8. Repeat steps 3-6 until all desired days have been
programmed then press to return to previous
menu or leave for 1 minute to automatically return
to home screen.
6.3.2 7 Day
1. Choose 7 day operation (See section 6.2 for details).
Then press .
2. Turn the dial to select the days to programme,
Mon-Sun then press to confirm.
3. Turn the dial to choose the program (P1-P3). Then
press to confirm and enter time setting.
4. Turn the dial to adjust the starting time (10 minutes
increments). Then press to confirm.
5. Turn the dial to adjust the ending time (10 minutes
increments). Then press to confirm and enter the
next program (P2-P3).
6. Repeat the steps 4-5. To set P2 and P3 programs.
7. Repeat steps 2-6 until all desired days have been
programmed then press to return to previous
menu or leave for 1 minute to automatically return
to home screen.
6.3.3 24 Hour
1. Choose 24hr operation (See section 6.2 for details).
Then press .
2. Turn the dial to choose the program (P1-P3). Then
press to confirm and enter time setting.
3. Turn the dial to adjust the starting time (10 minutes
increments). Then press to confirm.

4. Turn the dial to adjust the ending time (10 minutes
increments). Then press to confirm and enter the next
program (P2-P3).
5. Repeat the steps 2-4. To set P2 and P3 programs, then
press to return to previous menu or leave for 1 minute
to automatically return to home screen.
