Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the SealerAtor IP tester. The SealerAtor is a service tool
that tests for pressure and vacuum leaks in IP-rated fixtures after they have been opened for
maintenance or repairs. This manual provides important information for the safe operation
and maintenance of the SealerAtor.

Safety Considerations
To ensure safe operation, follow the safety instructions and warning notes in this user manual.
•
This equipment is intended for professional use only. Not for residential use.
•
Read the entire manual before using this equipment.
•
Contact your authorized ETC dealer or ETC Technical Services before performing any
service in order to maintain warranty coverage.
WARNING: Note the following safety warnings before use:

This equipment is designed for operation by qualified personnel only.
•
Ensure that the available voltage is within the stated range. See
page 5
.
•
Do not operate near flammable materials or gases.
•
Do not use if the power lead (cord set) is damaged. If the lead is
damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified technician with an
equivalent type before use. Contact your local authorized dealer for
spare power leads.
•
The device must be plugged into a grounded outlet. Follow national and
local codes.

General Guidelines
•
Do not operate this device in smokey, dusty, or humid environments. Doing so could allow
contaminated or moist air to be drawn into the equipment and damage the device and the
fixture being tested.
•
Do not operate this device in the rain.
•
Do not expose the device to open flame, and keep the device away from heat sources.
•
Do not connect the device to an external compressor.
•
Operate the device only after having familiarized yourself with its functions. Do not permit
persons who are not qualified and familiar with its functions to operate the device.
•
Do not modify the device. Any modifications will void the warranty.
•
This manual describes the proper operation of the device. Using the device in any way
other than the intended use may cause damage and void the warranty.
•
When the device has been stored or transported in cold temperatures, allow it to warm to
room temperature for a minimum of one hour before applying power. Applying power to a
cold device may cause damage to the device and void the manufacturer warranty.
•
Please use the original packaging if the device is to be transported. ETC will not be
responsible for the device if packaging other than manufacturer provided packaging is
used.

Unpacking Instructions
The SealerAtor IP tester includes:
•
One SealerAtor IP tester
•
One power input cable with powerCON®TRUE1®TOP locking connector
•
One air hose
•
One USB cable
•
One microSD memory card
•
One threaded bolt
•
Three rubber washers
•
One 16mm (5/8in) wrench
Visually inspect the shipping carton for damage that may have occurred during transit. If the
shipping carton shows signs of damage, document the damage fully before unpacking the
contents. Documentation of any damage is helpful when reporting a claim with the carrier.
Do not discard the shipping carton and packaging materials. The carton and packing materials
are specifically designed to protect the equipment during transport and will be useful if you
need to ship the equipment, including transporting the equipment for service.

Control
You control the operation of the SealerAtor by using the onboard user interface or the
SealerAtor software.

The onboard user interface consists of a display and navigational controls. See
Onboard
User Interface on page9
for details about using the user interface.

Operation
WARNING: Connect this equipment to a non-dimmable power source in
order to avoid damage to the equipment's internal power supply and other
electrical components. Using a dimmable power source may damage the
equipment and will void the warranty.
These instructions guide you through the general operation of the SealerAtor IP tester.

Tools and parts needed:
•
3.0mm hex key
•
Adjustable wrench
•
Flatblade screwdriver
•
Air hose (provided with the SealerAtor)
•
Power cable (provided with the SealerAtor)
•
One threaded bolt (provided with the SealerAtor)
•
One rubber washer (provided with the SealerAtor)
•
One microSD card (provided with the SealerAtor, or any microSD card 8GB or larger)
Note:
Inspect the rubber washer before use, and replace the washer if it is damaged
or brittle.
Connect the SealerAtor to the Fixture
1. Remove the back cover from the fixture.
a. Disconnect power to the fixture.
b. Use a 3.0mm hex key to remove the six screws that secure the back cover to the fixture.
c. Detach the safety cable from the fixture.
d. Remove the cover.

2. Using an adjustable wrench, remove the plugs from the two air valves on the fixture.
•
Do not discard the plugs. You will need to reattach them to the fixture after testing is
complete.
3. Attach the air hose to the SealerAtor by connecting the quick connect plug on the air hose
to the "Pressure/Vacuum to Fixture"quick connect coupler on the SealerAtor.
4. Using an adjustable wrench, attach the fitting on the other end of the air hose to the air
valve located on the fixture upper enclosure.
5. Seal the air valve located on the head of the fixture with the threaded bolt.
a. Insert a rubber washer onto the threaded bolt.
b. Use a flatblade screwdriver to screw the bolt into the air valve.
Perform the Test
1. Verify that the AIR IN/OUT valve on the SealerAtor is free from obstructions so that air can
move freely into and out of the SealerAtor.
2. Insert the microSD card into the microSD card slot on the SealerAtor.
3. Use the provided power cable to connect the SealerAtor to a grounded power source.
4. Switch on the SealerAtor.
5. Engage the pan and tilt locks on the fixture.
6. Using the onboard UI or the PCsoftware, select the necessary test options and start the
test.
7. Upon completion of the test, switch off the SealerAtor.
Disconnect the SealerAtor from the Fixture
1. Using an adjustable wrench, disconnect the air hose from the fixture.
2. Use a flatblade screwdriver to remove the threaded bolt from the fixture.
3. Using an adjustable wrench, reattach the plugs to the air valves on the fixture.
4. Reattach the back cover to the fixture.
a. Attach the safety cable to the attachment point on the head of the fixture.
b. Position the back cover on the fixture so that the screw holes in the cover is aligned with
the screw holes on the fixture.
c. Use a 3.0 mm hex key and the six screws to secure the back cover to the fixture.

Onboard User Interface
You can control the operation of the SealerAtor through the onboard user interface, which
consists of a display and navigational controls.
1. Press the [MODE/ESC] button

Enter button to select a menu item.
3. Modify the selection by pressing the up, down, left, or right navigation buttons according
to the selection.
4. Press the Enter button to confirm a selection.

The content of the user interface is organized into several menus.
Test Menu
Access the Test menu to perform vacuum and pressure tests on a fixture.
Perform an Auto Test
Note:
See Select the Fixture on page 11 to select the profile of the fixture you intend
to test.
Navigate: Main Menu →Test →Auto
The Auto test automatically performs both the pressure and vacuum tests.
•
Start Test starts the test.
•
Back returns to the Test menu.
After you select Start Test, you must specify the serial number of the fixture to be tested in
order to complete the test. Use the up, down, left, and right navigation buttons to enter the
serial number when prompted. The serial number is located on the bottom of the fixture upper
enclosure.
Test results for Auto tests that pass are saved to the microSD card. See
Retrieve Results from
the microSD Card on page13
for information about retrieving the results.

Choose a Specific Test
Note:
See Select the Fixture on page 11 to select the profile of the fixture you intend
to test.
Navigate: Main Menu →Test →Manual Test
Choose to perform either the vacuum test or the pressure test.

navigation button.

recommends that you do not change the values.

Perform the pressure test.
To begin the test, navigate to OFF and press the right
navigation button.
To stop the test before it is complete, press the left navigation

the Pressure window are predefined for your ETC fixture. ETC
recommends that you do not change the values.
Note:
•
The test results for Manual tests that are run from the onboard user interface are
not saved.
•
If the test fails, contact ETC Technical Support for assistance.
Test the SealerAtor
Navigate: Main Menu →Test →Self-Test
Do not use the Self-Test option unless directed to do so by ETC Technical Services. Contact
Technical Services for specific instructions. Refer to
Help from Technical Services on page2
for
contact information.

Personality Menu
Use the Personality menu to select the profile of the fixture you need to test, set the default
display units, and access the service settings.
Select the Fixture
Navigate: Main Menu →Personality →Fixture
Select the profile of the fixture you want to test from the profiles that have been uploaded to
the SealerAtor.
1. Press the right and left navigation buttons to locate the fixture to be tested.
2. Press the Enter button. The fixture's profile is shown.
3. Press the Enter button again to select the fixture.
Set the Display Units
Set the units of pressure.

Access Service Settings
Navigate: Main Menu →Personality →Service Setting
Menu Item Values Description
Password Service Password You must enter the service password in order to access the
other service settings. The default service PINis 050. Use the
left and right navigation buttons to change the password.
Set Fixture

Delete Fixture
View and change the pressure, vacuum, and hold time values
used during testing, or delete a fixture from the SealerAtor.
The test values displayed are predefined for the fixture. ETC
recommends that you do not change the values.
The Delete Fixture option is shown at the bottom of the list
of a fixture's pressure, vacuum, and hold time values. To
delete the fixture:
1. Press the down navigation button until Delete Fixture is
highlighted.
2. Press the right navigation button to select Yes, and then
press the Enter button to delete the fixture.

Return the SealerAtor to its default factory settings.
Info Menu
Access the Info menu to view information about the SealerAtor.
View Software Version
Navigate: Main Menu →Info →Software Ver
Displays the software version installed on the SealerAtor.

SealerAtor Software
Contact ETC Technical Services for assistance in installing the SealerAtor software on a PC.

The SealerAtor software includes predefined profiles for ETC fixtures that are compatible with
the SealerAtor. The software is required to update the firmware on the SealerAtor.
Minimum PC requirements:
•
Windows®7, 8, 8.1, 10 or later
•
A minimum of 52MB free disk space
Install SealerAtor Software on a PC
1. Unzip the contents of the software zip file.
2. Double-click the file named "SealerAtor.exe" to begin the software installation process,
and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Perform a Test
1. Open the SealerAtor software. The home page opens.
2. Select the fixture to be tested. The pressure and vacuum values defined for the fixture are
shown to the right on the home page.
Note:
The predefined fixture profiles provided by ETC include the appropriate
pressure and vacuum values for each ETC fixture that is compatible with the
SealerAtor. ETC recommends that you do not change the values.
3. Select Start Test Run on the home page. The following buttons display at the bottom of the
window that opens:

Start the pressure test Displays when the Manual Test checkbox is selected.
Start the vacuum test Displays when the Manual Test checkbox is selected.

4. Choose to perform the auto test or a manual test.

Select Auto Test to perform both the pressure test and the vacuum test.
•
Select Manual Test to perform either the pressure test or the vacuum test.

5. Start the test.
•
If you selected Auto Test, select the start button.
•
If you selected Manual Test, select pressure test ( ) or vacuum test ( ) to start the
desired test.
6. When the test is complete, save the test results if necessary:
a. Select Save.
b. Navigate to the folder in which you want to save the file.
c. Type a name for the file in the File name field.
d. Select Save.

Retrieve Results from the microSD Card
When you perform Auto tests using the onboard UI, test results for tests that pass are saved to
the microSD card.
1. Eject the microSD card from the SealerAtor and insert it into the PC.
2. Access the microSD card, and navigate to the folder that is named for the fixture whose
test results you need to retrieve.
3. Copy the .kpa file from the folder to a location on the PC.
4. Open the SealerAtor software.
5. Select Open Test Run on the home page of the software.
6. Navigate to the folder that contains the test file you want to open.
7. Select the file and select Open.
Retrieve Results from the PC
1. Select Open Test Run on the home page of the software.
2. Navigate to the folder that contains the test file you want to open.
3. Select the file and select Open.
Upload a Profile to the SealerAtor
Note:
The firmware on the SealerAtor IP tester includes profiles for the ETC fixtures
that are compatible with the SealerAtor. You do not need to manually upload ETC
fixture profiles to the SealerAtor.
You can upload fixture profiles from the SealerAtor software to the SealerAtor IP tester.
1. Use the provided USBcable to connect the SealerAtor to the PC.
2. Power on the SealerAtor.
3. Open the SealerAtor software on the PC.
4. Select the fixture you want to upload to the SealerAtor.
5. Select Upload. The profile is uploaded to SealerAtor and is available to be selected in the
onboard user interface.

Maintenance

To ensure that the device remains in good working condition and does not fail prematurely,
ETC recommends that you perform regular maintenance on the SealerAtor.
Keep the following in mind during regular service and inspection:
•
All parts of the SealerAtor must be tightly connected and must not be corroded.
•
There must not be any deformations to the housing.
•
The power input cable and air hose must not show any damage, material fatigue, or
sediment.
•
If spare parts are required, order only genuine parts from ETC or your authorized ETC
dealer.
Clean the SealerAtor
Clean the SealerAtor regularly using a damp, lint-free cloth. Never use alcohol or solvents.
Update Firmware on the SealerAtor
Contact ETC Technical Services for assistance in updating the firmware on the SealerAtor.

Tools and parts needed:
•
PC on which the SealerAtor software is installed.
•
USB cable (provided with the SealerAtor).
1. Unzip the contents of the firmware zip file.
2. Connect the PC to the SealerAtor using the provided USB cable.
3. Power on the SealerAtor.
4. Start the SealerAtor software on the PC.
5. Select Update on the home page of the SealerAtor software. The SealerAtor Update
window opens.
6. Select Browse, and navigate to the location of the contents of the firmware zip file.
7. Select the .gsd file and select Open.
8. Confirm that you selected the correct file, and select Update. The status of the firmware
update is shown on the PC and in the display on the SealerAtor.
Note:
To close the SealerAtor Update window without updating the firmware,
select OK or the Xin the upper right corner of the window.
9. When the firmware update is complete, select OK to close the SealerAtor Update window.

Troubleshooting an Unsuccessful Firmware Update
If the firmware update is not successful:
1. Power off the SealerAtor for at least 5 seconds, and then power it back on.
2. When the start up procedure is complete and the main menu is shown in the display on the
SealerAtor, repeat steps 5–10 in
Update Firmware on the SealerAtor on the previous page
