IMPORTANT
The LUX and TIME controls are delicate and great care should be taken when making adjustments not to
exceed the limit of the controls.
When the mains power is disconnected, the battery will discharge if the battery switch is left in the ON
position. Once power is restored, the switch may operate erratically until the battery has recharged.
The time to return to normal operation will depend on how long the mains was disconnected and the
frequency of triggering during the recharge period.
Some fluorescent light fittings do not switch reliably with automatic electronic devices such as this PIR
wall switch. A power factor correction (PFC) capacitor may be required. If your fluorescent light fitting
does not switch correctly, we recommend connecting a PFC between the Live and Neutral terminals in
your light fitting of at least 1µF.
This device is not suitable for switching the following:-
• Heating and ventilation apparatus
• Contactors
• Discharge Lighting such as SON or Metal Halide
SPECIFICATIONS
LOAD

EVENTUALLY, YOU MAY WANT TO REPLACE THIS LIGHT FITTING
When your switch comes to the end of its life or you choose to update or upgrade it by replacing it,
please do not dispose of it with your normal household waste, please recycle where facilities exist. When
you need to dispose of this fitting, check with your wholesaler or local authority for suitable options. New
regulations require the recycling of Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (European “WEEE
Directive” effective August 2005—UK WEEE Regulations effective 2nd January 2007). Environment Agency
Registered Producer: WEE/GA0248QZ.
IF YOU EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS
If your switch is defective or develops a fault, please return it to the place where you bought it. You can
call our Helpline for advice. The Helpline will gladly give advice on any aspect of any Eterna Lighting
product but may not be able to give specific instructions regarding individual installations.
If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.

As the buyer, installer and/or user of this
product it is your own responsibility to ensure
that it is fit for the purpose for which you have

This product is designed and constructed
according to the principles of the appropriate
British Standard and is intended for normal
service.
This PIR wall switch can be installed as a direct
replacement for a normal one way wall switch.
The switch body will fit into a standard wall box
using the screws supplied.
Switch off the mains before commencing
installation and remove the appropriate circuit
fuse.
Do not overload the switch; check that the
total wattage of all connected fittings does not
exceed the maximum marked on the switch
and listed below in these instructions.
Disconnect the Switch from the electrical supply
before flash or high voltage testing.
Do not connect to a circuit which also has
inductive loads connected as spikes generated
switching inductive loads may cause erratic
operation.
Suitable for indoor use only.
This product is suitable for use in living areas
(not for areas constantly subject to moisture)
Before making fixing hole(s), check that there
are no obstructions hidden beneath the
mounting surface such as pipes or cables.
Do not attach to surfaces which are damp or
freshly painted.
If the location of your new switch requires the
provision of a new electrical supply, the supply
must conform with the requirements of the
Building Regulations making reference to the
current edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations
(BS7671).
When making connections, ensure that the
terminals are tightened securely and that
no strands of wire protrude. Check that
the terminals are tightened onto the bared
conductors and not onto any insulation.
This switch is double insulated; do not connect
any part to earth.
There is no provision for connection of ring
wires, ring wires should be joined using a
separate terminal block and insulated well.
Do not connect to Neutral, no neutral
connection is required for the correct operation
of this switch. Any neutral wires present should
be terminated separately and insulated well.
You are advised at every stage of your
installation to double-check any electrical
connections you have made. After you have
completed your installation there are electrical
tests that should be carried out: these tests are
specified in the Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
referred to in the Building Regulations. If in
doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
CLEANING
Clean this light switch only with a soft dry cloth.
Do not use any chemical or abrasive cleaners.
INSTALLATION
1) Connect the live supply wire to the LIVE IN
terminal.
2) Connect the live wire from your light fitting(s)
to the LIVE OUT terminal
3) Turn the TIME control to minimum (-)
4) Turn the LUX control towards the sun (
’
)
symbol
5) Turn the battery switch to the ON position
6) Fix the switch into your back or pattress box
using the 2 screws supplied
7) Restore the power.
8) The switch will begin switching as movement
of warm bodies is detected. The PIR will switch
off approximately 5 seconds after the last
movement is detected.
9) If the switch is switching your light fittings
correctly you can then adjust the time setting to
suit the installation function (5 sec to 15 min).
We recommend that a minimum of 2 minutes
be set for fluorescent lights or fittings with CFLs
installed.
10) When the ambient light is at the level at
which you want to PIR to switch on and
off, slowly turn the LUX control until the PIR
switches off. Note that the determination of
ambient light by the human eye is subjective
and approximate, this step may need to be
repeated two or three times to find the most
satisfactory setting.
ADDITIONAL SWITCHES
Additional switches may be connected in parallel.
OPERATION
Once set up, the switch will operate when
movement is detected, the timer set to turn off the
lights will recommence with every detection. The
lights will turn off at the pre-set time after the last
movement has been detected.
The rocker switch on the right hand side of the
wall switch over-rides the automatic function to
maintain the switch in power-on mode until the
rocker is switched back to auto.
“Auto position” the unit works on PIR detection
at the pre-set LUX level and duration TIME.
“ON position” means light will stay on
continuously whether or not the PIR has been
triggered. When the switch has been turned back
to Auto it will switch off after the pre-set time has
elapsed.
