Usethis waterheaterat yourownrisk.The setoutletwatertemperaturecan causesevereburnsinstantly

Theinstallationmustconformwith localcodesor,inthe absenceoflocalcodes,with NationalFuelGasCode,
ANSIZ223.1/NFPA54.
Properlygroundtheunitinaccordancewithall localcodesorintheabsenceoflocalcodes,withtheNational
ElectricalCodes,ANSI/NFPA70.
Thiswaterheaterdoesnot haveapilot. Itisequippedwith anignitiondevicethat automaticallylightstheburner.
Donottryto light the burnerbyhand.
Smellallaround the waterheaterarea forevidence ofleaking gas.Besureto smellnextto the oorbecauseLP
gasisheavierthanairand willsettleonthe oor.
Useonlyyourhandtoturnthe manualgasvalveknob. Neverusetools. Ifthe knob willnot turnbyhand, don't try
to repairit. Calla quali ed servicetechnician. Force orattempted repaircould result ina re orexplosion.
Donotusethiswaterheaterifanyparthasbeenunderwater.Immediatelycallaquali ed servicetechnician to
inspect the waterheaterandto replaceanydamaged parts.

Installation Preparation
Unpack theunit carefully andmakesure that allaccessoriesare put asidesothat theywill notbe lost.

Inspect thewaterheaterforpossible shipping damages.
Checkthemarkingsoftheratingplateonthewaterheatertobecertainthetypeofgasbeingfurnished
correspondsto what the waterheaterisequipped for.
Donotconnectthiswaterheaterto a fueltype not in accordance with the rating plate.
Carefullychoosethe locationforthenew heaterasplacement isavery importantconsiderationforthesafetyof
theoccupantsin the building andforthe mosteconomicaluseof the appliance.
Whetherreplacing anold waterheaterorputting the waterheaterin anew location, considerthe following critical
points:
Read the Safetyguidelinesin the beginningof thismanual.
Theinternalcomputercontrolled regulatorispreset bythe manufacturerandshouldnot be adjusted byuser.
Maintainproperspacearoundtheunitforservicing.Install theunitsothatitcanbeconnectedorremoved
easily.
Theelectricalconnectionrequiresameansforswitching offthe powersupply.
Avoidinstallingtheunitinanareawith high levels ofdust,sand,ordebris.Theseparticlesmayclogtheair
ventorimpairthefunctionof the fan,leadingto impropercombustion.Regularmaintenance isneeded.
Donot installtheunitwherethe exhaustventispointing into anyopening ina buildingorwhere the noisemay
disturb neighbors.
The locationselectedshouldbe ascloseto the ventterminationpointaspossible,andcentered withinthe
waterpiping system forbesthot waterdelivery.All waterheaters can leak.Donot install without adequate
drainage provisionswherewaterflow cancause propertydamage.
If ventedthrough an outsidewallorthroughtheroof using3"vent piping thetotalventruncannot exceed95
feetwith one90°elbow.If more elbowsarerequiredtheventingdistancemustbe reduced 5feet forevery90°
elbow.
Vent piping shouldslopedownwardtowardsthe unit. Horizontalrunsrequireadequate supportat 3½feet
intervalsand verticalrunssupportedat 5feet intervals.
Condensation maybecreated at timesasthe combustion gasesexit the vent cap. Discoloration of surfacesin
proximityto the vent cap mayoccur.

BeforeCommencingTheInstallation
Checkthat itis inaccordancewithrelevant building andmechanicalcodes,aswellasanylocalorstateor
federalregulations.
WARNING
Theapplianceshouldbelocatedinanareawhereleakageofthetankorconnectionswillnot resultindamage
tothe areaadjacentto theapplianceortolowerfloors of thestructure. Whensuchlocationscannotbe
avoided, itisrecommendedthat a suitabledrain pan be installed underthe appliance.Thepan mustnotrestrict
combustion air ow.
Theminimum inlet gaspressuremustbewithinthe value speci edbythe manufacturerand the minimumvalue
listedisonlyforthe purposeof input adjustment.
Ifawaterheateris installed inclosedwatersupply system, suchasonehavingabackowpreventerinthe
coldwatersupplylineandathermalexpansiontankisrequired,contactthewatersupplierorlocalplumbing
inspectoron how tocontrolthissituation.
The TemperatureandPressure(T&P)reliefvalvemustbecerti ed asmeetingtherequirement of the Standard
forRelief ValvesandAutomatic GasShut-offDevicesforHot WaterSupply SystemsANSIZ21.22/CAN1-
4.4.The valvemustbemarkedwithamaximum setpressurenot toexceedthemarkedhydrostatic working
pressureofthewaterheater(150 psi) andadischargecapacitynotless than the waterheaterinputrateas
marked ontherating plate.

Condensate Disposal
Thecondensatedrainmustbe lled and unobstructed to allow owof condensate. Thecondensateshouldnot
be subjected to conditionswhere freezing couldoccur.If the condensateis subjected to freezing orobstructed, it
can leak,resultinginpotentialwaterdamage totheunit and surroundingarea.
The drainline materialmustbe anapprovedmaterialbythe authorityhaving jurisdiction.Inabsenceof such
authority,PVCandCPVCpiping mustcomplywith ASTMD1785orD2845.Thispipemustbeconnected to the
portat the side panel.Theend ofthepipe should drainto laundry tuborto a oordrain.
Overtime, blockageofthetrapbydebrismayoccur;when the condensatecannotbereleased,theunitwillgo into
errorand willshut down. When thisoccurs,thetrap must be cleaned.
CLEAN OUTOF TRAP
Thecondensatetrap must be lledwith waterpriorto usingthewaterheater.
Fill3.0 oz. waterthrough exhaustcollarper gure 1.
Eternalwaterheaterwilltypicallyproduceacondensate thatisconsideredslightly acidic with aPhcontent
approximately3-4.Installa neutralizing lterifrequired byauthorityhaving jurisdiction (See gure2).
Directto drainfromtheunit.
Drain through neutralizerfrom the unit.
Drain tolaundrytub from the unit, inthis casethe unitmust be above the height of laundry tub.
Wheninstalling acondensatepump, ensurethe pump isapproved foruse with condensingappliance.
Thepump shouldbeequipped withanoverow switchtopreventpropertydamage from potentialcondensate
spillage.

Whencombustionairissupplied directlythroughanoutside wallsuchasintakelouversopeningsintothedwelling,
eachopeningshouldgiveaminimumfreeareaofone squareinchper15,000Btu/hourof thetotalinput ratingsof
allappliancesin the enclosedarea.
Whencombustionairissuppliedfrominsidethe building,eachopeningshouldgiveaminimumfreeareaof one
squareinchper3,750Btu/hourof the totalinputratingsofall appliancesintheenclosed area.Theseopenings
shouldneverbe lessthan40sq.in.
Theminimumrequiredinsideairvolume shouldbe50 cu.ft perevery 3,750 Btu/hour.

Eternalwaterheatermust be used assealed combustion type (Direct Vent)where allthe combustionairissupplied
fromthe outdoorsthrough theairintakeandallcombusted gasbyproductsareventeddirectlyto theoutside by
meansof thevent termination.
MOBILEHOME(ManufacturedHome)andRECREATIONALPARK TRAILERS.
This appliancemustbe installedinaccordancewiththeManufactured HomeConstruction And Safety
Standard,(Title24, CFR; Part3280)and ANSIA119.5 forRecreationalParkTrailers.In addition, installin
accordancewith thefollowinginstructions,theinstructionssuppliedwiththe ventingtermination, localcodes,
utilitycompanyrequirementsfortheinstallationofwaterheaters inmanufacturedhomes(mobilehomes) and
RecreationalPark Trailers.Intheabsenceof suchastandard,thewaterheatershouldbeinstalledinaccordance
with the latestedition of the NationalFuelGasCode,ANSIZ223.1/NFPA54andANSIA119.5/NFPA501D.
LOCATIONforMOBILEHOME(ManufacturedHome).
Thiswaterheatermustbeinstalledwithinanenclosuresoastoseparatethe waterheater’scombustionand
ventingsystemfromtheinterioratmosphereof the manufacturedhomeandtrailer.Allairforcombustion mustbe
obtainedfromthe outsideatmosphere.Andthe byproductsof combustedgases(ue gases)mustbedischarged
directlyto the outsideatmospherethrough the gasvent. There must notbe anydoororotheropening into the water
heaterenclosurefromtheinside of the manufacturedhome.Pleaserefertoinstallationdiagrams(Page 21).
Placementof WaterHeater:Locatethewaterheaterasdesired,makecertaintheminimumclearancesare
maintained. Forindoorand outdoorinstallation followentireEternaloperation manual,pleasesee sectionof
manufacturedhome and recreationalparktraileroutdoorinstallation.

Thewaterheatermust beproperlysupported; ifthewallis notstrong enough, besureto reinforcethewall.
Theunit must bemounted on a verticalwalland leveltotheground.

1. Installmounting bracketswith6 screwsontopandbottomback of the unit.
Selecta location on the wallto mount the unit.The includedwallbrackethasbeenpre-drilled foreasy installation
onstandardstud walls.Iftheframingisnotstandardorinstallingonanunevensurface,fasten3/4"plywoodto
thestudwalland thenattach the wallbracket.
Hang the uniton the mountedwallbracketandsecurebottomof theunitto the wallwithincludedwallanchors
and wallscrews.
