Inspect thewaterheaterforpossible shipping damages.
Checkthemarkingsoftheratingplateonthewaterheatertobecertainthetypeofgasbeingfurnished
correspondsto what the waterheaterisequipped for.
Donotconnectthiswaterheaterto a fueltype not in accordance with the rating plate.
Carefullychoosethe locationforthenew heaterasplacement isavery importantconsiderationforthesafetyof
theoccupantsin the building andforthe mosteconomicaluseof the appliance.
Whetherreplacing anold waterheaterorputting the waterheaterin anew location, considerthe following critical
points:
Read the Safetyguidelinesin the beginningof thismanual.
Theinternalcomputercontrolled regulatorispreset bythe manufacturerandshouldnot be adjusted byuser.
Maintainproperspacearoundtheunitforservicing.Install theunitsothatitcanbeconnectedorremoved
easily.
Theelectricalconnectionrequiresameansforswitching offthe powersupply.
Avoidinstallingtheunitinanareawith high levels ofdust,sand,ordebris.Theseparticlesmayclogtheair
ventorimpairthefunctionof the fan,leadingto impropercombustion.Regularmaintenance isneeded.
Donot installtheunitwherethe exhaustventispointing into anyopening ina buildingorwhere the noisemay
disturb neighbors.
The locationselectedshouldbe ascloseto the ventterminationpointaspossible,andcentered withinthe
waterpiping system forbesthot waterdelivery.All waterheaters can leak.Donot install without adequate
drainage provisionswherewaterflow cancause propertydamage.
If ventedthrough an outsidewallorthroughtheroof using3"vent piping thetotalventruncannot exceed95
feetwith one90°elbow.If more elbowsarerequiredtheventingdistancemustbe reduced 5feet forevery90°
elbow.
Vent piping shouldslopedownwardtowardsthe unit. Horizontalrunsrequireadequate supportat 3½feet
intervalsand verticalrunssupportedat 5feet intervals.
Condensation maybecreated at timesasthe combustion gasesexit the vent cap. Discoloration of surfacesin
proximityto the vent cap mayoccur.

WARNING
Theapplianceshouldbelocatedinanareawhereleakageofthetankorconnectionswillnot resultindamage
tothe areaadjacentto theapplianceortolowerfloors of thestructure. Whensuchlocationscannotbe
avoided, itisrecommendedthat a suitabledrain pan be installed underthe appliance.Thepan mustnotrestrict
combustion air ow.
Theminimum inlet gaspressuremustbewithinthe value speci edbythe manufacturerand the minimumvalue
listedisonlyforthe purposeof input adjustment.
Ifawaterheateris installed inclosedwatersupply system, suchasonehavingabackowpreventerinthe
coldwatersupplylineandathermalexpansiontankisrequired,contactthewatersupplierorlocalplumbing
inspectoron how tocontrolthissituation.
The TemperatureandPressure(T&P)reliefvalvemustbecerti ed asmeetingtherequirement of the Standard
forRelief ValvesandAutomatic GasShut-offDevicesforHot WaterSupply SystemsANSIZ21.22/CAN1-
4.4.The valvemustbemarkedwithamaximum setpressurenot toexceedthemarkedhydrostatic working
pressureofthewaterheater(150 psi) andadischargecapacitynotless than the waterheaterinputrateas
marked ontherating plate.
