Engineering Note:
Staking - Extra Guy out Lines and Stakes [not included]
When high winds or storms are predicted, requisition extra guy out
stakes. This model y has built-in loops at optimal guy out locations. It’s
important to put in the extra time guying out your tent. Correctly done, it
can save your tent during heavy weather.
• Attach parachute cord to the loops and stake them in the ground
three or four feet from the edge of the
tent. If staked too close to the tent, the
wind can cause an upward pull and may
dislodge the stakes.
• Make sure that the top y is securely
attached to the framework underneath.
The hook and loop fasteners sewn to the
underside of the y are for this purpose.
Be sure to use them.
• It is a better idea to run two cords at an
angle from the side of the guy out loop.
This will prevent all movement, except
toward the anchor. The guy lines will
now work together through opposition.
See illustrations.
