Before You Begin…
EVGA wel omes you to the next generation of ground breaking performan e, the X99
FTW. The X99 platform redefines high performan e with the introdu tion of the first
ever quad hannel DDR4 ar hite ture fueled by Intel’s Haswell-E/Broadwell-E CPU
family for up to 128GB’s of RAM running at a maximum memory speed up to
3000MHz+ (OC), possible due to the 4 layer memory T-Routing design. An Advan ed
8 phase Digital VRM (IR3563B+IR3350) and a CPU so ket with 150% higher Gold
ontent, all rested on a 8 layer Hybrid Bla k PCB to provide industry leading stability for
all your appli ations.
Also, the board is not ONLY for peak over lo king, it is also fully featured to support
any/all peripherals and fun tions available, 4 way SLI support without the need for PLX
hips, 2 Intel Gigabit LAN, Intel AIC with Thunderbolt support, right angle power
onne tors, PCI-E disable swit hes and mu h more!
Lastly, a motherboard is only as good as its BIOS, and we have revamped our GUI
BIOS with a fo us on over lo king, fun tionality, in a lean, straight forward pa kage.
And you should expe t nothing less from a modern enthusiast BIOS.
With the features above and many more, EVGA is going to redefine motherboard
performan e.

Preparing the Motherboard
Installing the CPU
Be very areful when handling the CPU. Hold the
pro essor only by the edges and do not tou h the
bottom of the pro essor.
Note: Use extreme caution when working with
the CPU, not to damage any pins in the
CPU socket on the motherboard!
Use the following pro edure to install the CPU onto the motherboard:
Unhook the left so ket lever by pushing down and
towards the so ket.
Unhook the right so ket lever by pushing down
and towards the so ket.
Gently press the left so ket lever and the load
plate will lift from the so ket.
Open the load plate and make sure not to
damage any of the pins inside of the so ket.
Note: After removing the CPU socket cover, it is recommended to store it in case
you ever need to transport your motherboard. If you ever remove the CPU, it
is highly recommended to reinstall the socket cover.

- 12 -
Align the not hes on the CPU to the not hes in
the so ket.
Lower the pro essor straight down into the
so ket.
Note: Make sure the CPU is fully seated and level
in the socket.
Lower the load plate so it is resting on the CPU.
Press the right so ket lever down to lo k into
pla e.
Carefully lo k the left lever ba k into pla e.
Installing the CPU Cooling Device
There are many different ooling devi es that an be used with this
motherboard. Follow the instru tions that ome with your ooling assembly.

Installing System Memory (DIMMs)
Your X99 FTW has (8) 288-pin slots for DDR4 memory. These slots support
2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB DDR4 DIMMs. There must be at least one
memory slot populated to ensure normal operation.
The Intel X99 hipset supports quad hannel memory; supports a maximum of
128GB of DDR4 and up to
3000MHz+ (OC) in quad hannel
onfiguration. It is required to
populate an odd slot (1, 3, 5, 7)
first. The board will not boot if
only even slots (2, 4, 6, 8) are
populated.
Use the following pro edure to
install DIMMs. Note that there is
only one gap near the enter of the
DIMM slots. This slot mat hes the
slot on the DIMM to ensure the omponent is installed properly.
Unlo k a DIMM slot by pressing the module lips on both sides
outward.
Align the memory module to the DIMM slot, and insert the module
verti ally into the DIMM slot, pressing straight down to seat the
module. The plasti lips at top side of the DIMM slot automati ally
lo k the DIMM into the onne tor.
Note: The memory controller on most Haswell-E and Broadwell-E CPUs runs at a
default frequency of 2133MHz. To achieve memory speeds above 2133MHz+
may require manual setting of the memory timings, frequency and voltages
and/or overclocking of the CPU.
Refer to the memory manufacturer specifications for the recommended
memory timings. For overclocking support you can visit our forums:
