USB A–Stecker
Die EX-1304 ist ein Modul zur Umsetzung von USB auf eine RS-232 Schnittstelle mit FIFO
16C550 Port für den Anschluss von High Speed Seriellen RS-232 Peripherie Geräten (z.B.
Modem, Plotter usw.). Das USB Modul ist Hot Plug & Play fähig. Für die Einstellungen der I/O
Adressen und Interrupts sind keine Jumper und Einstellungen notwendig, da die Einstellungen
automatisch vom System BIOS und bei der Installation des Betriebssystems vorgenommen
werden.

Please note the following installation instructions. As there are major differences between PCs, we
can only provide you with general instructions for installing the EX-1304. If you are unsure, please
refer to the operating instructions for your computer system.
1. Connect the EX-1304 to a USB A socket on your PC.
2. Connect the cable with the 9-pin socket to the EX-1304.
3. Now you can start your PC and continue with the driver installation.
LINUX
There are drivers available for Linux. The drivers are located in the folder
“\USB_to_IO\FTDI\Linux x86_64“ on the driver CD. They are supported by the most versions
of Linux. Because each individual distribution and kernel version of Linux is different, sadly we
cant provide a installation instruction. Please refer to the installation manual for standard I/O
ports from your Linux version !
MAC
There are drivers available for MAC. The drivers are located in the folder
“\USB_to_IO\FTDI\MAC OSX or Mac_OS_9_8“ on the driver CD. They are supported by the
most versions of MAC OS. Because each individual version of MAC OS is different, sadly we
cant provide a installation instruction. Please refer to the installation manual for standard I/O
ports from your MAC OS version !

Windows
Once the hardware installation is complete, the operating system automatically recognizes the
adapter and installs it! If the drivers are not installed automatically, you can download them from
our website www.exsys.de or www.exsys.ch. Enter our article number EX-1304 under "Search".
There you will find the drivers and manual. Open the folder "USB_to_IO/FTDI". Now select the
folder of your operating system and install the drivers (see illustration). Follow the installation
instructions and complete the installation. Important! Restart your PC after the installation.
CHECK INSTALLED DRIVER
Open the >Device manager<. Now you should see at „Ports (COM & LPT)“ and „USB-
Controller“ the following new entry:
If you see this or a similar information the device is installed correctly.
DRIVER INSTALLATION
CLEANING
For cleaning please use only a dry fluff less cloth and remove the dirt with gently pressure. In
the area of the connectors please make sure that no fibres from the cloth remain in the connect-
ors. Attention! Never use a moist or wet cloth for cleaning!

Beachten Sie bitte die folgenden Installationshinweise. Da es große Unterschiede zwischen PC‘s
gibt, können wir Ihnen nur eine generelle Anleitung zum Einbau der EX-1304 geben. Bei Unklarhei-
ten halten Sie sich bitte an die Bedienungsanleitung Ihres Computersystems.
1. Schließen Sie die EX-1304 an eine USB A-Buchse Ihres PC‘s an.
2. Schliessen Sie das Kabel mit der 9 Pin Buchse an die EX-1304.
3. Jetzt können Sie Ihren PC starten und mit dem Punkt Treiber Installation fortfahren.
LINUX
Die Linux Treiber befinden sich im Verzeichnis “USB_to_IO\FTDI\Linux x86_64“ auf der
Treiber CD. Sie werden unter den meisten Linux Versionen unterstützt. Da sich die einzelnen
Distributionen und Kernelversionen sehr voneinander unterscheiden, können wir Ihnen leider
keine Installationsanweisung geben. Bitte halten Sie sich an die Installationsanweisung für USB
Ports Ihrer Linux Version.
MAC
Die MAC Treiber befinden sich im Verzeichnis “USB_to_IO\FTDI\MAC OSX oder
Mac_OS_9_8“ auf der Treiber CD. Sie werden unter den meisten MAC OS Versionen unter-
stützt. Da sich die einzelnen Versionen voneinander unterscheiden, können wir Ihnen leider
keine Installationsanweisung geben. Bitte halten Sie sich an die Installationsanweisung für USB
Ports Ihrer MAC OS Version.
USB A–Connector
The EX-1304 is a module for converting USB to an RS-232 interface with FIFO 16C550 port for
connecting high-speed serial RS-232 peripheral devices (e.g. modem, plotter etc.). The USB
module is Hot Plug & Play capable. No jumpers or settings are required to set the I/O addresses
and interrupts, as the settings are made automatically by the system BIOS and during the installa-
tion of the operating system.

Nach Abschluss der Hardwareinstallation erkennt das Betriebssystem automatisch den Adapter
und installiert diesen! Falls die Treiber nicht automatisch installiert werden sollten stehen Ihnen
die Treiber auf unserer Webseite www.exsys.de oder www.exsys.ch zum Download bereit.
Geben Sie bei „Suche“ unsere Artikel Nummer EX-1304 ein. Dort finden Sie die Treiber und
Handbuch. Öffnen Sie den Ordner „USB_to_IO/FTDI“. Nun wählen Sie den Ordner Ihres Be-
triebssystems aus und installieren Sie die Treiber (siehe Abbildung). Folgen Sie den Installati-
onsanweisungen und schließen Sie die Installation ab. Wichtig! Starten Sie Ihren PC nach der
Installation neu.
ÜBERPRÜFEN DES INSTALLIERTEN TREIBER
Öffnen Sie den >Geräte-Manager<. Jetzt müssten Sie unter „Anschlüsse (COM & LPT)“ und
unter „USB-Controller“ folgenden Eintrag sehen:
Ist dieser oder ein ähnlicher Eintrag vorhanden, ist die EX-1304 richtig installiert.
TREIBER INSTALLATION
REINIGUNG
Zur Reinigung des Gerätes verwenden Sie bitte ausschließlich ein trockenes nicht faserndes
Tuch und entfernen Sie die Verschmutzung mit leichtem Druck. Im Bereich der Anschlüsse bitte
darauf Achten, dass keine Fasern des Tuchs in der Buchse hinterlassen werden. Verwenden
Sie bitte zu Reinigung in keinem Fall ein feuchtes oder nasses Tuch!
