Installation STEP 1: Ensure cellular signal at fence mounting location
1. Take the monitor to a desired area where it can face South with good sunlight
coverage.Putthemonitor’sswitchintheOnposition.Forabout3secondsthe
monitorwilldisplayastartupsequenceofred,greenandbluelightsthenwill
attempttoconnecttothecellularnetwork.
Connecting to the network:
Themonitorwillblinkwhiteindicatingitisattemptingtoconnecttothecellular
network.(Theamountoftimeittakestoconnecttothenetworkmayvary
dependingonlocation)
No cellular signal:
Ifafterattemptingtoconnecttothenetworkthelightstartsblinkingredthis
indicatesthatthemonitorwasunabletondacellularsignal.Themonitorwill
periodicallyattempttoreconnectandlocateasignal.Ifafterseveralattemptsit
doesnotndasignal,adifferentlocationshouldbefoundoryoucancontactour
customerservicetohavethemdetermineifcellularserviceisavailableinyourarea.
Good network connection:
Ifafterattemptingtoconnecttothenetworkthelightstartsblinkinggreenthis
indicatesthatthemonitorhassuccessfullyconnectedtotheFenceAlarmnetwork
andisreadytobemounted.SeetheinstructionsinStep2.
Ifafterattemptingtoconnecttothenetworkthelightstartsblinkingyellowthis
indicatesthatthemonitorwasunsuccessfulinconnectingtotheFenceAlarm
network.Themonitorwillperiodicallyretryitsconnectiontothenetwork.Ifafter
severalattemptsthemonitorstillblinksyellow,thencontactourcustomerservice
tohelpdetermineifthereisanissuewiththecellularnetworkinyourarea.

*TheFence-Alarm
senses voltage from
bothsidesofaloop-
backfence,soitwill
not send an alert of a
brokenfenceline.It
willhowevernotifyyou
ifvoltagedropsbelow
yourthresholdsettings,
orifyourenergizer
ceases to function.

Onthebackofthemonitorisabuiltinmountingbracket.Facethesolarpaneldue South
(intheNorthernHemisphere),outofthewayoftrees,buildings,andotherobjectsthatwill
castashadowonitduringtheday.Donotmountyourfencemonitorontheground.
–Thisisthecommonmountingmeans.Slidethebackofthemonitorover
thetopofthet-postandthemountingisdone.
Round wooden post–First,putalargeheadednailintothepost.Next,
carefullyslidethenailheadintotheslotonthebackofthemonitor.Lastly,use
thecenterholeinthemonitor’shandleandasmallheadnailtobettersecureyour
monitor.
Wooden wall–Ifyouhaveaatwoodenwallthatfacessouthandgetssunlightall
day,thenyoucanuse2-3nailsintheholesinthemonitor’shandletomountthisona
atwall.

Installation STEP 3: Connect the fence hot (red knob) terminal
Note:EnsureyourelectricfenceenergizerisswitchedOFFbeforemakingthis
connection.
1.Refertotheredfenceterminalknobonthefront/bottomoftheFence-Alarmunit.
Thisistheredknobthatismarkedwithasmalllightningboltonthefrontlabel.
2.Unscrewtheredfenceterminalknob.Placetheredwire’sringterminaloverthe
studandreplaceknob.
3.Removeonewingnutfromtheclamptwinplateandplaceitoveryourfence’shot
conductor.Puttheringterminaloftheredwireoverthestudandreplaceand
tighten the wing nut.
CAUTION:Onlyhand-tightenthefenceterminalknobsonthemonitor.DONOTuse
pliersorothermechanicalmeansbecauseover-tightendamagemayoccurvoiding
yourwarranty.
1. Locateanareaofsoilforplacingthegroundrodthatcontainsgoodconductive
earth(notsandyorrocky).Soilthatismoistthroughouttheyearisbest.
2. Screwonegroundrodintotheother,threadthescrewintothegroundrodandpush
orpoundthegroundrodintotheearthleavingafewinchesofthegroundrodand
thescrewabovetheground.Removethescrewfromthegroundrod.Ifthescrew
isnotdamageditcanbeused,otherwiseusetheextraone.Attachtheground
wire to the ground rod using the screw and lock washer. Ensure that the ground
terminalissecurelytightenedtothegroundrod.Ifyourfencingsystemdoesnot
useagroundrod,butinsteadagroundwire,usetheextraclampincludedto
attach to it.

STEP 5: Normal operating indicators
1. IftheFenceAlarmisnotattemptingtoconnecttothenetworkorhasalowbattery
themonitorwillashthecoloroftheconditionfromthelastconnectionattempt.
Forexample,ifthelastattemptwassuccessfulinconnectingtotheFence-Alarm
networkviadatamodethelightwillbeashinggreen.
Ifnofencepulseisbeingdetectedbythemonitoritwillstillindicatethelast
condition,butatarateofonceevery3seconds.
2. Onceadayoranytimetheunitispoweredonthemonitorwillreceivethe
thresholdsettingsfromtheFence-Alarmnetwork.Soifyouupdateyourthreshold
settingviatheweb,textingortheappitcouldtakeupto1dayforthenew
thresholdsettingtobereceived.Ifyouneedthethresholdsettingtobeupdated
immediatelyturnthemonitor’spoweroffandthenbackon.
Light Indicator Reference
COLOR MEANING
White Connection is being attempted (No action is required)
Green In DATA connection mode (No action is required)
Blue In TEXT connection mode (This will limit status updates)
Yellow Connection was unsuccessful (Unit will try again later)
Purple Battery dead (Charge battery)
Red No cellular signal (Move location to find better signal strength)
Red/Blue Cellular modem error (Contact customer service)
Red/Blue/Green Unit is disabled (Contact customer service)

STEP 6: User Settings
1. UsingTEXTmessagefunctions:
Send“S”or“s”toFenceMonitortogetthelastshownupdatedstatisticsofthefence.
To Change Voltage Threshold
Send“Txxxx”or“txxxx”wherethexxxxisthevalueinvolts.Example:T2500
wouldsetthefencelowthresholdto2.5kV.(0to9900)
To Add User
Send“+”or“-”followedbyaphonenumbertoaddorremoveaphone
numbertosendalertsto.Example:“+1235551234”wouldaddthecellnumber
123-555-1234tothealertmessagecalllist.
2. Usingphoneapp(see Step 6 on the Quick Start Registration)
Yourunitwillautomaticallytextyouoremailyouthesametimeeverydaybasedon
whenyousetupyouruniton.Shouldyouwanttochangethetimeonwhenyoureceive
youralertyouwillneedtoturntheunitoffthenbackonatthespeciedtimeanditwill
reset to start sending according to that time.
SOLAR PANEL MAINTENANCE
Everyfewmonthsuseadampcloth(withwateronly)andadryclothtocleanthe
solarpanel.Thiswillhelpmaximizesolarpanelefciency.Ifsnowgetsonthesolar
panelsimplywipeitoff.Whenthemonitoristobestored(formorethan4days)use
somethingdarktocoverthesolarpanel(topreventitfromoverchargingthebattery).
Whenchargingthemonitor,placethemonitorinstrongdirectsunlightfor2days,every
4months,withtheswitchinthe“CHARGE”position.Putswitchbackintothe“OFF”
positionforstorage.

BATTERY CHARGING
WARNING:Donotchargebatterywitha12Vautomobilebatterychargerasthiswill
damagethebattery.Onlya6Vleadacidrechargeablebatterycharger,orthesolar
panel,canbeused.
EnsuretheswitchisintheOFFposition,andmountthemonitoronapost,facing
SOUTHformaximumsunlightthroughouttheday.(The6-voltbatterycomes
pre-installedandpreconnectedsonoterminalconnectionisneeded).Putthemonitor’s
switchintheCHARGEposition,andallowittofullychargefor3-4daystoensurethe
batteryisfullychargedbeforeyoubegintousethemonitor.Aftereachdayyoucan
testyourbatteryvoltage,andifitis6Vorhigher,thenyourbatteryisfullycharged.
Your6Vbatteryhasanaveragelifeofacoupleyears.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
Thesolarmonitorbatteryispre-installedandalreadytestedandconnectedfromthe
factory.Theeasiestwaytochargethe6Vbatteryistofollowthebatterycharging
instructionsusingthesunlight.Ifyouputthechargerinfullsunfor5days,andthe
batteryvoltageisstillunder5.75V,thenyoumayneedtoreplacethebattery.You
should only have to do this after a couple years of use.Toreplacethebattery
refertothefollowingdrawings.Removethebatterydoor,slidethebatterydoorin
thedirectionofthearrow,andremoveit.Carefullydisconnecttheredandblack
wires(Holdontotheconnector).Replaceitwithanother6V,4.5Ahsealedleadacid
rechargeablebattery.Carefullyconnecttheredwiretothered(+)batteryterminaland
theblackwiretotheblack(-)batteryterminal,ordamagemayresult.Putthebatteryin
thecompartment,putitbackintothemonitor,andtightenthescrew.

FarmAlertLLCguaranteesyourcompletesatisfactionwiththisfencemonitor.Ifyouare
notsatisedwiththisproduct,youmayreturnthemonitortotheoriginalplaceofpurchase
within30daysofpurchaseforafullrefund.Proofofpurchaseisrequiredforarefund.
LIMITED WARRANTY
FarmAlertLLCwarrantsthisfencemonitortotheoriginalpurchaseronly,foraperiodof
twelve(12)monthsfromthedateofpurchase,wheninstalledandusedinaccordance
withtheenclosedinstallationinstructions.Proofofpurchaseisrequiredforwarranty
consideration.Thiswarrantycoversdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanshiptothefence
monitor.
Improperinstallation,misuse,neglect,tampering,oranyotherreasonnotrelatedto
materialorworkmanshipareNOTcoveredunderthe30-DayGuaranteeortheLimited
Warranty.Nowarrantyotherthantheaboveisexpressedorimplied.Impliedwarranties
ofmerchantabilityandtnessforaparticularapplicationareherebydisclaimedunless
thelawspecicallyprecludesthisdisclaimer.Themanufacturerandsellershallhaveno
liabilityfordamages,incidentalorconsequential,resultingfromorcausedbyanyfailure,
malfunctionordefectofanyproduct.

Fence-Alarm/Farm-Alert,LLC(“Fence-Alarm”)isnotasecurityconsultantandcannotaddressallpotentialfencesecurityneeds.Noalarm-alertsystemcanprovide
completeprotectionorguaranteepreventionofloss,damageorinjury.Manyincidentsareunpredictableandcannotalwaysbedetectedorpreventedbyanalarm-alert
system.Humanerrorisalwayspossible,andtheresponsetimeoftheownersand/oremergencypersonnelisoutsidethecontrolofFence-Alarm.Fence-Alarmmaynot
receivealarmsignalsifcommunicationorpowerisinterruptedforanyreason.AccordinglyFence-Alarmassumesnoresponsibilityorliabilityforanyloss,damageorinjury
relatedtotheuseoftheFence-Alarmproductormonitoringsystem.
Fence-Alarmisnotaninsurerandisnotprovidinginsuranceofanytype.TheamountspaidtoFence-Alarmarenotinsurancepremiumsandarenotrelatedtothevalue
ofthecustomer’sproperty,anyoneelse’spropertylocatedatthecustomer’spremisesoranyriskoflossatthecustomer’spremises.Instead,theamountsFence-Alarm
chargesarebasedsolelyuponthevalueoftheequipmentandservicesFence-Alarmprovides.Intheeventofloss,damageorinjury,thecustomermustlookexclusively
totheirinsurerandnotFence-Alarmtocompensatethemoranyoneelse.WithusingtheMonitoringandNoticationServicethecustomerreleasesandwaivesfor
themselvesandtheirinsurerallsubrogationandotherrightstorecoveragainstFence-Alarmarisingasaresultofthepaymentofanyclaimforloss,damageorinjury.
Fence-Alarmcannoteliminateoccurrencesoftheeventsitsequipmentandservicesareintendedtodetectoravert.Fence-Alarmmakesnoguaranteeorwarranty,
includinganyimpliedwarrantyofmerchantabilityortnessforaparticularpurpose,thattheequipmentandservicesprovidedwilldetectoravertsuchincidentsortheir
consequences.Fence-Alarmdoesnotundertakeanyriskthatpersonorpropertymaybesubjecttoinjuryorlossifsuchaneventoccurs.
Fence-Alarmrecommendsthatthealarm-alertsystembemanuallytestedatleastmonthlyandanytimethereisanychangemadetothefence.
