Installation STEP 1: Ensure cellular signal at fence mounting location
1. Take the monitor to a desired area where it can face South with good sunlight
 coverage.Putthemonitor’sswitchintheOnposition.Forabout3secondsthe
  monitorwilldisplayastartupsequenceofred,greenandbluelightsthenwill 
  attempttoconnecttothecellularnetwork.
Connecting to the network:
  Themonitorwillblinkwhiteindicatingitisattemptingtoconnecttothecellular
  network.(Theamountoftimeittakestoconnecttothenetworkmayvary
  dependingonlocation)
No cellular signal:
  Ifafterattemptingtoconnecttothenetworkthelightstartsblinkingredthis
  indicatesthatthemonitorwasunabletondacellularsignal.Themonitorwill
  periodicallyattempttoreconnectandlocateasignal.Ifafterseveralattemptsit
  doesnotndasignal,adifferentlocationshouldbefoundoryoucancontactour
  customerservicetohavethemdetermineifcellularserviceisavailableinyourarea.
Good network connection:
  Ifafterattemptingtoconnecttothenetworkthelightstartsblinkinggreenthis
  indicatesthatthemonitorhassuccessfullyconnectedtotheFenceAlarmnetwork
  andisreadytobemounted.SeetheinstructionsinStep2.

  Ifafterattemptingtoconnecttothenetworkthelightstartsblinkingyellowthis
  indicatesthatthemonitorwasunsuccessfulinconnectingtotheFenceAlarm
  network.Themonitorwillperiodicallyretryitsconnectiontothenetwork.Ifafter
  severalattemptsthemonitorstillblinksyellow,thencontactourcustomerservice 
  tohelpdetermineifthereisanissuewiththecellularnetworkinyourarea.

willhowevernotifyyou
ifvoltagedropsbelow
yourthresholdsettings,
orifyourenergizer
ceases to function.


Onthebackofthemonitorisabuiltinmountingbracket.Facethesolarpaneldue South
(intheNorthernHemisphere),outofthewayoftrees,buildings,andotherobjectsthatwill
castashadowonitduringtheday.Donotmountyourfencemonitorontheground.
–Thisisthecommonmountingmeans.Slidethebackofthemonitorover 
thetopofthet-postandthemountingisdone.
Round wooden post–First,putalargeheadednailintothepost.Next, 
carefullyslidethenailheadintotheslotonthebackofthemonitor.Lastly,use
thecenterholeinthemonitor’shandleandasmallheadnailtobettersecureyour
monitor.
Wooden wall–Ifyouhaveaatwoodenwallthatfacessouthandgetssunlightall
day,thenyoucanuse2-3nailsintheholesinthemonitor’shandletomountthisona
atwall.

Installation STEP 3: Connect the fence hot (red knob) terminal
Note:EnsureyourelectricfenceenergizerisswitchedOFFbeforemakingthis
connection.
1.Refertotheredfenceterminalknobonthefront/bottomoftheFence-Alarmunit.
 Thisistheredknobthatismarkedwithasmalllightningboltonthefrontlabel.
2.Unscrewtheredfenceterminalknob.Placetheredwire’sringterminaloverthe
 studandreplaceknob.
3.Removeonewingnutfromtheclamptwinplateandplaceitoveryourfence’shot
 conductor.Puttheringterminaloftheredwireoverthestudandreplaceand
tighten the wing nut.
CAUTION:Onlyhand-tightenthefenceterminalknobsonthemonitor.DONOTuse
pliersorothermechanicalmeansbecauseover-tightendamagemayoccurvoiding
yourwarranty.

1. Locateanareaofsoilforplacingthegroundrodthatcontainsgoodconductive
 earth(notsandyorrocky).Soilthatismoistthroughouttheyearisbest.
2. Screwonegroundrodintotheother,threadthescrewintothegroundrodandpush
 orpoundthegroundrodintotheearthleavingafewinchesofthegroundrodand
 thescrewabovetheground.Removethescrewfromthegroundrod.Ifthescrew
 isnotdamageditcanbeused,otherwiseusetheextraone.Attachtheground
wire to the ground rod using the screw and lock washer. Ensure that the ground
 terminalissecurelytightenedtothegroundrod.Ifyourfencingsystemdoesnot
 useagroundrod,butinsteadagroundwire,usetheextraclampincludedto
attach to it.

STEP 5: Normal operating indicators
1. IftheFenceAlarmisnotattemptingtoconnecttothenetworkorhasalowbattery
 themonitorwillashthecoloroftheconditionfromthelastconnectionattempt.
 Forexample,ifthelastattemptwassuccessfulinconnectingtotheFence-Alarm
 networkviadatamodethelightwillbeashinggreen.
 Ifnofencepulseisbeingdetectedbythemonitoritwillstillindicatethelast
 condition,butatarateofonceevery3seconds.
2. Onceadayoranytimetheunitispoweredonthemonitorwillreceivethe
 thresholdsettingsfromtheFence-Alarmnetwork.Soifyouupdateyourthreshold
 settingviatheweb,textingortheappitcouldtakeupto1dayforthenew
 thresholdsettingtobereceived.Ifyouneedthethresholdsettingtobeupdated
immediatelyturnthemonitor’spoweroffandthenbackon.

White Connection is being attempted (No action is required)
Green In DATA connection mode (No action is required)
Blue In TEXT connection mode (This will limit status updates)
Yellow Connection was unsuccessful (Unit will try again later)
Purple Battery dead (Charge battery)
Red No cellular signal (Move location to find better signal strength)
Red/Blue Cellular modem error (Contact customer service)
Red/Blue/Green Unit is disabled (Contact customer service)


STEP 6: User Settings
1. UsingTEXTmessagefunctions:

  Send“S”or“s”toFenceMonitortogetthelastshownupdatedstatisticsofthefence.
To Change Voltage Threshold
  Send“Txxxx”or“txxxx”wherethexxxxisthevalueinvolts.Example:T2500
  wouldsetthefencelowthresholdto2.5kV.(0to9900)
To Add User
  Send“+”or“-”followedbyaphonenumbertoaddorremoveaphone
  numbertosendalertsto.Example:“[phone]”wouldaddthecellnumber
  123-555-1234tothealertmessagecalllist.
2. Usingphoneapp(see Step 6 on the Quick Start Registration)

 Yourunitwillautomaticallytextyouoremailyouthesametimeeverydaybasedon
 whenyousetupyouruniton.Shouldyouwanttochangethetimeonwhenyoureceive
 youralertyouwillneedtoturntheunitoffthenbackonatthespeciedtimeanditwill
reset to start sending according to that time.
SOLAR PANEL MAINTENANCE
Everyfewmonthsuseadampcloth(withwateronly)andadryclothtocleanthe
solarpanel.Thiswillhelpmaximizesolarpanelefciency.Ifsnowgetsonthesolar
panelsimplywipeitoff.Whenthemonitoristobestored(formorethan4days)use
somethingdarktocoverthesolarpanel(topreventitfromoverchargingthebattery).
Whenchargingthemonitor,placethemonitorinstrongdirectsunlightfor2days,every
4months,withtheswitchinthe“CHARGE”position.Putswitchbackintothe“OFF”
positionforstorage.

BATTERY CHARGING
WARNING:Donotchargebatterywitha12Vautomobilebatterychargerasthiswill
damagethebattery.Onlya6Vleadacidrechargeablebatterycharger,orthesolar
panel,canbeused.
EnsuretheswitchisintheOFFposition,andmountthemonitoronapost,facing
SOUTHformaximumsunlightthroughouttheday.(The6-voltbatterycomes
pre-installedandpreconnectedsonoterminalconnectionisneeded).Putthemonitor’s
switchintheCHARGEposition,andallowittofullychargefor3-4daystoensurethe
batteryisfullychargedbeforeyoubegintousethemonitor.Aftereachdayyoucan
testyourbatteryvoltage,andifitis6Vorhigher,thenyourbatteryisfullycharged.
Your6Vbatteryhasanaveragelifeofacoupleyears.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
Thesolarmonitorbatteryispre-installedandalreadytestedandconnectedfromthe
factory.Theeasiestwaytochargethe6Vbatteryistofollowthebatterycharging
instructionsusingthesunlight.Ifyouputthechargerinfullsunfor5days,andthe
batteryvoltageisstillunder5.75V,thenyoumayneedtoreplacethebattery.You
should only have to do this after a couple years of use.Toreplacethebattery
refertothefollowingdrawings.Removethebatterydoor,slidethebatterydoorin
thedirectionofthearrow,andremoveit.Carefullydisconnecttheredandblack
wires(Holdontotheconnector).Replaceitwithanother6V,4.5Ahsealedleadacid
rechargeablebattery.Carefullyconnecttheredwiretothered(+)batteryterminaland
theblackwiretotheblack(-)batteryterminal,ordamagemayresult.Putthebatteryin
thecompartment,putitbackintothemonitor,andtightenthescrew.

FarmAlertLLCguaranteesyourcompletesatisfactionwiththisfencemonitor.Ifyouare
notsatisedwiththisproduct,youmayreturnthemonitortotheoriginalplaceofpurchase
within30daysofpurchaseforafullrefund.Proofofpurchaseisrequiredforarefund.
LIMITED WARRANTY
FarmAlertLLCwarrantsthisfencemonitortotheoriginalpurchaseronly,foraperiodof
twelve(12)monthsfromthedateofpurchase,wheninstalledandusedinaccordance
withtheenclosedinstallationinstructions.Proofofpurchaseisrequiredforwarranty
consideration.Thiswarrantycoversdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanshiptothefence
monitor.

Improperinstallation,misuse,neglect,tampering,oranyotherreasonnotrelatedto
materialorworkmanshipareNOTcoveredunderthe30-DayGuaranteeortheLimited
Warranty.Nowarrantyotherthantheaboveisexpressedorimplied.Impliedwarranties
ofmerchantabilityandtnessforaparticularapplicationareherebydisclaimedunless
thelawspecicallyprecludesthisdisclaimer.Themanufacturerandsellershallhaveno
liabilityfordamages,incidentalorconsequential,resultingfromorcausedbyanyfailure,
malfunctionordefectofanyproduct.
ThesoleobligationofFarmAlertLLCshallbelimitedtorepairorreplacement,atits
option,ofthedefectivefencemonitororpart.

damage.

Fence-Alarm/Farm-Alert,LLC(“Fence-Alarm”)isnotasecurityconsultantandcannotaddressallpotentialfencesecurityneeds.Noalarm-alertsystemcanprovide
completeprotectionorguaranteepreventionofloss,damageorinjury.Manyincidentsareunpredictableandcannotalwaysbedetectedorpreventedbyanalarm-alert
system.Humanerrorisalwayspossible,andtheresponsetimeoftheownersand/oremergencypersonnelisoutsidethecontrolofFence-Alarm.Fence-Alarmmaynot
receivealarmsignalsifcommunicationorpowerisinterruptedforanyreason.AccordinglyFence-Alarmassumesnoresponsibilityorliabilityforanyloss,damageorinjury
relatedtotheuseoftheFence-Alarmproductormonitoringsystem.
Fence-Alarmisnotaninsurerandisnotprovidinginsuranceofanytype.TheamountspaidtoFence-Alarmarenotinsurancepremiumsandarenotrelatedtothevalue
ofthecustomer’sproperty,anyoneelse’spropertylocatedatthecustomer’spremisesoranyriskoflossatthecustomer’spremises.Instead,theamountsFence-Alarm
chargesarebasedsolelyuponthevalueoftheequipmentandservicesFence-Alarmprovides.Intheeventofloss,damageorinjury,thecustomermustlookexclusively
totheirinsurerandnotFence-Alarmtocompensatethemoranyoneelse.WithusingtheMonitoringandNoticationServicethecustomerreleasesandwaivesfor
themselvesandtheirinsurerallsubrogationandotherrightstorecoveragainstFence-Alarmarisingasaresultofthepaymentofanyclaimforloss,damageorinjury.
Fence-Alarmcannoteliminateoccurrencesoftheeventsitsequipmentandservicesareintendedtodetectoravert.Fence-Alarmmakesnoguaranteeorwarranty,
includinganyimpliedwarrantyofmerchantabilityortnessforaparticularpurpose,thattheequipmentandservicesprovidedwilldetectoravertsuchincidentsortheir
consequences.Fence-Alarmdoesnotundertakeanyriskthatpersonorpropertymaybesubjecttoinjuryorlossifsuchaneventoccurs.
