important to read, understand and follow all instructions shipped
with the products. In addition, listed below are some other important

• To properly install a light assembly, you must have a good under-
standingofautomotiveelectricalproceduresandsystems,alongwith
prociencyintheinstallationanduseofsafetywarningequipment.
• Beforedrillingintoavehiclestructure,besurethatbothsidesofthe
surfaceareclearofanythingthatcouldbedamaged.
• Youshouldfrequentlyinspectthelightsystemtoensurethatitisop-
eratingproperlyandthatitissecurelyattachedtothevehicle.
• Refertotheinstructionspackedwithrelatedproductsforadditional
precautionsandinformation.
• Filetheseinstructionsinasafeplaceandrefertothemwhenmain-
tainingand/orreinstallingtheproduct.
Failure to follow all safety precautions and instructions may result in
property damage, serious injury, or death to you or others.

Unpacking the Kit
Afterunpackingthekit,carefullycheckallenvelopes,shippinglabels,and
tagsbeforeremovingordestroyingthem.Ensurethatthepartslisted in
Table 1onpage2arecontainedinthepackingcarton.

Installing the Brackets
AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT
Do not install equipment or route wiring in the deployment path of
an air bag.
Failure to observe this warning will reduce the effectiveness of the air
bag, or potentially dislodge the equipment, causing serious injury to
you or others.
IMPORTANT:Planallcableroutingbeforetheinstallation.
1 Removetherear-doorpanelassembly.Forremovalinstructions,refer
tothevehicle’sfactoryservicemanual.
2. Routethewirefromthelightheadthroughthebracket.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN SCREWS/NUTS
To avoid damage to the lightheads do not overtighten the screws
and nuts.
3. Mountthelightheadtothebracket.TheVI p e r EXTmountswithout
the bezel using hardware supplied with the lighthead; the Im p a x x
mounts with the bezel using the supplied 6-32 Phillips screws and
6-32nylonlocknuts.
4. Positiontheassemblyonthereardoorofthevehicleatthelocation
youwant.Thepositionyouselectshouldliewithinthexedareaof
thewindowglass.Usingtheassemblyasatemplate,markthecenters
ofthethreemountingholes.

DRILLING PRECAUTIONS
Before drilling holes, check the area you are drilling into to be
sure you do not damage vehicle components while drilling. All
drilled holes should be de-burred and all sharp edges should be
smoothed. All wire routings going through drilled holes should be
protected by a grommet or convolute/split loom tubing.

holes.
6. ConnecttheIm p a x x orVI p e r exTlightheadsasdescribedinthein-
structionsprovidedwiththelightheads.
7. Replacethedoorpanelassemblyaccordingtothemanufacturesin-
structions.
8. Repeatsteps1through7withtheotherside.
9. Testthelightheadsforproperoperation.
